  1. Team Indiana Heartland Duals Both the middle school and elementary teams were pre-selected by the Heartland Committee. The pre-selected members can be challenged to a wrestle off. Wrestle off will be held March 1st (Evening) or March 2nd(Morning). In order to challenge you must be able to make both days. You will be notified which day your wrestle off is, it is at the discretion of the committee. Challenges will be held at Contenders Wrestling Academy in Brownsburg, IN. Anyone challenging must beat the blue team member in a best 2 of 3 series, unless there are multiple challenges in which a bracket will be formed. If you would like to challenge, a request must be submitted VIA EMAIL to ryan@contenderswrestling.com by February 23 at 6:00pm EST. The tournament will be held March 28-30th in Council Bluffs, Iowa. 2. ***disregard as I see this has been answered by MattyB the ref said the arm slipped out and the lock was illegal and thus no NF points can be awarded while in an illegal hold. (that was the explanation given) @Ahap88
  3. I do not always agree and or see eye to eye with the comments posted by @GenHeavyHandz but man its funny to see how quickly people react to his posts/comments. People just don't like the guy and that makes for some good msg board reading.
  4. sorry @ENoblewrestling just seeing this post. We have done this in the past with a wrestle off challenge date for all spots. It started off well attended and then with timing wise people stopped coming due to conflicts with FS wrestling and spring breaks and they also started to figure out they could still get on team even if they did not come and we had to call people to fill spots. We decided to form a committee this year of 2 ISWA board members (Myself--Kids director & Ryan Parrish--folkstyle development director). We then took the elementary duals team state large division coach and small division coach, the Middle school team duals winning coach. (Garland Cooper--New Pal; Cameron Harris--Leo; Doug Strayer--CP) We then looked at the state representation for all those people and had 2 at large spots for any other part of the state not represented or a person who just knows kids in the state (for those we had Matt Kelly and Dustin Bentz) With this group of guys we had 3 zoom calls and used the last years Folkstyle State, National level events, MS state, elementary duals results, MS duals results, head to head results and also just common sense and we all agreed who are the 2 best kids 6th grade and under for elementary and 6th grade to 8th grade for MS. We then listed the team and opened it up for any challenges by non selected kids for the selected spots and we did have about 10 of those on a Friday/Sat at a centrally located facility with an IHSAA/ISWA mat official. There was only 1 instance that I can think of that the selections made were changed. Bottom line is people in the know always know who the kids are that are the best at each weight for these teams. In the past we were not always getting them due to vacation and other conflicts and kids coming to the wrestle offs to wrestle off were getting the spots but maybe not our best kids at that weight. If this process does not seem like it worked then we will look to modify or tweak it again because our goal is to send the best Team IN teams we can out to Heartland to represent the state. Thanks for your question and if you have any others please do not hesitate to reach out.
  5. All teams updated for current roster spots. Challenges for spots on elementary are this Friday and Sat and MS will likely be next Friday. We have some challenges so these spots could change. Stay tuned as we continue efforts to try to send the best kids available at each weight out to Heartland 2023 to represent Team IN !!!!
  6. Every parent out there will automatically say their favorite name said in the Mr. Whitehead voice is their own kid's name after being announced a state champion to stand at the top of the podium. I literally can still hear the echo of that voice & announcement in my head to this day like I was in Bankers Life listening to it live. This will be a tough act to follow for someone for sure. Thanks for all your time and dedicate and we look forward to 2 more days of this !!!
  7. elementary is 6th grade and under and MS division is 6,7,8. there are also age limits (those are listed on the Heartland Duals website)
  8. Feb 29th 2023 at high noon. We can do it in my garage as the current #1 seed gets choice, also I get to set the weight and I say no allowance and we will need to be scratch at 119 so if you are not able to make that then you will FF. Rules are rules sir
  9. I have seen better write up's and better work (by better people..... I kid). I did enjoy the family/sibling section and the shout out to Jmill was real nice. EVSS still triggers me so I will not be in attendance this wknd, but I want to say to all kids wrestling best of luck and bring your best to reach your goals. Dreams can come true for all the hard work you have put in all season. To all the parents in the stands, enjoy the heck out of this day and the experience of your kids on a huge stage experiencing something that most people don't get to experience. These are memories you will have for a lifetime I promise you all that. Lastly @TripleB I guess if I am being honest that write up was slightly above average and a decent read & from Jmill that is about as big of a compliment as one can get (love ya brother and glad your healthy) P.S. Best of luck to all my purple DOGS this wknd !!! (stay alert for those headlocks)
  10. I will say 1st, good luck to both kids & then I will say that Reese is wrestling very differently than he was at the beginning of the year so that earlier result will likely have nothing to do with this wknds match.

  12. hahahahahaha, now that is some funny stuff @Y2CJ41 I like Joe and would never want to battle him. I have seen a recent pic of @TripleB however and I believe we are in the same weight class now so that guy I have some built up angst for !!!! @UncleJimmy that was COVID times during that pic, I couldn't get out to get a haircut and needed a new shaver after only getting half way thru the job. I have cleaned it all up now and again look more like Tom Cruise again.
  13. I have 1 open roster spot for anyone to contact me to fill @ Jason Miller 219-730-9489. I will post Rosters in next week or so. only open spot: MS blue: 160 Please reach out to me asap to get in on this.
  14. You guy may need the supplementary health insurance that comes with the ISWA State tournament so maybe make it happen there ? I kid of course but maybe not... lololololol; good luck guys
  15. I want to first say thank you to @blueandgold for starting this thread. I was not sure who you were but have been informed and I have huge amounts of respect for you young man so again thank you for the kind words about Logan. To everyone else who has commented on here thank you also so very much. I have been around wrestling for many many years as an athlete, coach, ISWA board member & parent. I have gotten to know lots and lots of kids and families from all over the state thru the many many years Thru all the years I have known this is a great sport that can have heartbreaking endings and results and equally great un-believable outcomes and accomplishments. Logan has had a great career in the sport and has achieved things greater than I would have and could have expected for him. The thing that makes me the happiest of all after everything he has gone thru (especially over the last two years) is how he carried himself after it all came to an end on Saturday. Mom and I were completely devastated and honestly I could not think or rationalize what to do next, but seeing Logan stand up shake hands and then come back out and sit with his team was un-believable to me. I talked to him a few times during the rest of the day and while I was teary he assured me he was OK and he was going to be fine just a little disappointed. Now to address all the above comments (like I said I have made many friends along the way during my time in the sport) and I thank all of you for your kind words. Most of you I do not know personally but please seek me out at some point at any ISWA event so I can fist bump you and thank you personally for acknowledging what I know already is that Logan is an awesome & kind young man. To @Darrick Snyder @mikemorgan what a wild ride its been over 4 years from a state title to a heartbreaking loss and everything in between (thanks to Mike for coming in to help navigate this last run). You guys have been awesome and amazing and I know I will be friends with you guys forever and love you both. Thank you for everything. Lastly to @tiger92 thank you for post and to be honest it does not surprise me that Logan found your son on social media some how and reached out to him to congratulate him and wish him good luck going forward. Unfortunately for me I selected seats in the part of the arena that I had sat in the previous times I had been fortunate enough for Logan to be at Semi-state and did not want to break from tradition even though they were not in the "B-burg section". This turned out to be right next to the Princeton fan section. It was tough to be honest, but I did get to see what I think was mom and dad happy and elated for their son Jared Dunn thru the whole day. To me that is what this sport is all about, as I was devastated they were elated and I honestly could not be mad about that. I hope your son enjoys this experience and has the time of his life. Its a great event being at the state finals and I know he will soak it all in and have great life experiences and take a ways. I hope he makes a deep run and can achieve all he wants and dreams about. To all other kids competing this weekend best of luck, stay safe & healthy and accomplish your dreams and enjoy the moments, soak it all in and never have regrets.
  16. Yes the wrestle offs will be 3-20-22 at Contenders wrestling academy and time slots for each weight division are listed on the ISWA home page under the Team IN heartland duals tab. This also is the same for those kids that place 1-8 at MS state as they will also be invited to do wrestle offs to qualify for the MS Team IN national team.
  17. @mikemorgan makes un-believable life long connections with kids and is great in the room. He has done wonders with my guy this year and has helped him find the joy and love for the sport he had lost !!! Thanks mike, get him to finish line !!
  18. @Y2CJ41 Oh boy this thread has taken a turn............ I feel it coming again for @GenHeavyHandz dangit !!!. @TeamGarcia & @Mattyb and I were just talking yesterday about that pic of him in the hospital bed after he had a very un-fortunate medical situation and how far he has come since then. OK OK OK lets just all take a breath and cool down on this guys..................... The General Loves his guys and other's on here love their guys, lets all just hope this COVID crap doesn't take over and we get to finish the season and the kids all stay safe and healthy along the way.
  19. I don't like to post much just read a lot, but when I see something this stupid I have to call out its utter ignorance. Come on man that was a classless post and I hope you were just trying to post something funny (it didn't work) and it was just totally disrespectful. give it a better positive effort next time. @QuinnHarris is doing great things with a great group of kids lets just all be impressed by that.
