If you are talking from the beginning of season to what you want to wrestle that is fine. But if you are naturally weighing 10 to 15 pounds more than you wrestle then honestly that is a problem. That is the whole reason the rules got put in place so kids didn't do that type of cut. I did that cut in high school and even worse in college. I would hope that people are not cheating the fat charts and allowing wrestlers to still do this.

Andy, I agree with you, particularly, in theory, but there too many incentives and workarounds. Any good wrestler whether kid, coach, or parent has two things in abundance: competitiveness and wherewithal.

What is the disincentive for a wrestler (or coach/parent) who is able to successfully cut that kind of weight even though they shouldn't? What if they can make State versus struggle to place at Semi-State in higher weight? They all know who their competitors are, what they weigh, and what they are up against. And, if they don't there is always someone or even this site or Track to inform them.

We all know tons of great kids that are cutting way too much weight. Don't we? And, I suspect we also know they are more successful at that lighter weight. They get recognitive from everywhere including the forums and the rankings. Yep, they'd be successful at a higher weight, maybe even two, but probably not 'as' successful.

That's a hard ask of any kid, coach, or parent. I'm, absolutely, not saying it's the right thing, but I understand the motivation and the difficulty of the problem.

Now I have been on the other side of the coin and can see that that extra 2 pounds will be extremely harmful for some (my 106 weighs 103 on a heavy day and to have to wrestle some 110 guys will be a tall task)

I don't feel sad for those poor frail near-adults that made the decision to cut weight to make a certain class. You can't have it both ways. There is an absolute reason for weight classes.

Ha! My son, starting at 87 lbs, spent 3 years battling kids anywhere from 5 to 25 (no exaggeration) lbs heavier. Until 'everyone' enforces it (whatever 'it' is), you will always have it. Beyond that, their success and recognition encourages them. Why wouldn't they do it?

My son is right sized now, and he has to cut a couple pounds each week, but it's not is terribly difficult. Is that okay or should he jump up and wrestle against kids that are naturally 10 lbs heavier?🤔 (That said, it's a bit late).

Just to be clear, I'm serious about the first paragraph and somewhat less about the second.

No but I do have it on my phone.  It was a good match and Easton definitely wants a rematch.  Tanner was just a bit more savvy and Easton has been working on some stuff to fix some things

He'll get one (probably many times). And, I'm sure it'll be another barn burner. Like Johns and Ocampo, I knew the first was going to be good one. Tanner is very good. Good luck through the series.

Yeah, I think she is making believers out of a lot of people.  My son,  Easton and her had wrestled against each other when they were little so I saw her back then and knew she would be good.  You just don't know until she get on the mat with the high school boys but she has done very well and she is such a great kid too.

Ha! Your son's not damn bad either. That's a couple of young and pretty good drill partners. Do you have that Tishner match on FB too 🙂

She lost to Johns at the Bill Kerbel in overtime.

Yeah. I watched the scoring on Track (you make do). Not much distance between the two, and I think Johns is underrated.

As soon as the dark horse thread appears, he'll be on my list. She can't be a dark horse because everyone already knows about her (or they'd better).

Will we ever see the undercard event again?!.... Speed walking state championship for lower section seats! Thanks Covid!

For the love of God, NO!

Are you using 'speed walking' as a euphemism for 'Panicked Crowd Surge?' I've been one of the first at the front doors five of the last six years. But, after the three gate elbow fests, I'm still beaten by fifteen Chesterton mothers with reams of yellow tape...year after blessed year.

Wrestler 1-(19-2) wins over 2,3,5 no losses to anyone in field pretty clear number 1 (freshman)

Wrestler 2-(15-5) record .75 win percentage has wins over wrestler 4,5

    regional qualifier.

Wrestler 3-(19-7 Record) .73 Has win over wrestler 2 loss to wrestler 5

    semi-state qualifier

Wrestler 4- (7-3 record) .70 win percentage. Has win over wrestler wrestler 5 and loss to Wrestler 2

    semi-state qualifier

Wrestler 5- (10-5 record) .667 win percentage. Has 2 losses to wrestler 4, one loss to wrestler 2 and a win over wrestler 3. (Freshman)

I suspect this is a bunch of 106s. If so, should be an interesting sectional at that weight.
