  1. Where are all of my PRO 1 class backers at? Hahaha, have they gone to the dark side?
  2. I'm unsure of how adding a second class would grow the sport. If young kids are only getting into the sport because they have the possibility of winning a state title because of the size of the school, I think they are getting into the sport for the wrong reason. If I believed adding a class would grow the sport I would be all for it, but I don't think it would add any wrestlers that would not have already been interested. And....yes sir, it is about the matches WE get to see at the state tournament. I understand the thinking behind the class system, I just disagree. I think there are other ways to get young kids involved. I think taking a young child to the state tournament and introducing him to the atmosphere of Fri and Sat and letting them know if you work your butt off that could be you one day will work just as well.
  3. If you want to double the wrestling take 8 from semi-state. Just an example of MY con.....I think it would be an absolute travesty to walk out of bankers life fieldhouse on Saturday evening saying, "I wish I would have got to see 1A Champion Joe Lee wrestle 2A champion Brandon James."
  4. Refer back to my comment that you quoted for my answer. When I said the state will lose fans, I meant exactly what you said. I will probably not go to Indy to watch the state finals just like you, and agree there will be at least 40 people waiting for my seat. I will also not stop following the sport.
  5. I absolutely agree with you there. The IHSAA doesn't care who wins. Its definitely financial for them which is why I think eventually we will probably see multi-class, I just hope we don't.
  6. That's not what I said at all. If all you are looking to do is put more butts in the seats at Bankers life, then allow every wrestler on every team to compete at the state finals. The point single class proponents are trying to make is the point of the state tournament is not to have as many fans there as possible, it is to find the best wrestler at each weight class.
  7. I would respectfully disagree. You believe it would benefit Indiana wrestling and I do not. There have been just as many valid points as to why it would not benefit the state. I believe a single class benefits by showing the best our state has to offer for the next level. Going from 32 state qualifiers from 16 does not double participation. It doubles the amount of wrestlers allowed to compete at the state championship, it does not double the amount of wrestlers in the state.
  8. And posts like that show that you just want to argue. That comment is no more relevant than my post about participation ribbons. Not one person on this thread has said a word about having 1 overall champion. There should be 14 champions. How do you know participation levels are going to increase?
  9. It will be taken in as much as your repetitive posts about making wrestling more fair in Indiana. Other states have class wrestling so they must be right. You get extremely defensive when someone else disagrees with you on this topic. Fact: If Indiana goes to a class system, fans will be lost!
  10. Participation ribbons to all, and free cokes after it's over.
  11. Your logic is flawed. I don't disagree Red is one of the best 2 wrestlers in the state, but you cannot say for certainty that he can jump 2 weight classes and win the title. James has beaten Red.
  12. I'm not taking anything away from Brandon James at all. I think he is a fantastic wrestler and his accolades speak for themselves. I was referencing the "locks." I do not think anyone is a lock. I think Chad Red, Nick Lee, Brandon James, Blake Rypel, etc can ALL be beaten, so in my mind there is no such thing as a lock. I was simply pointing out that James has not been as dominant as the other locks that were discussed. And to answer your question, Nick Lee has beaten..........everyone he has wrestled minus a 3-time state champ.
  13. Let me begin by saying I think Brandon James probably has the best chance to win 138. BUT, he has had 4 matches this year that were decided by 7 points or less. In my mind that is less than dominating. Chad Red and Nick Lee have dominated everyone they've wrestled this year (in the high school season). I absolutely believe Joe Lee and Tommy Cash could bring their A game (which is what it would take) and beat James. I believe 138, along with every other weight class, is up for grabs.
  14. Regardless, this weekend will be a blast from top to bottom!
  15. I have not seen Coy wrestle, but I have a suspicion that no one can compete with Lee. I'm predicting tech or fall in every Lee match.
  16. I would have rather seen Cash and Lee on the same side to possibly face off for a chance at James.
  17. Does it matter if Hammond hasn't won a state champion in 150 years. I would be pretty proud to stand in that wrestling gym as a young man and stare at the pictures on the wall (or whatever form of rememberence they may have).
  18. I don't follow Hammond wresting, but I'd say a school with 27 state champions is pretty successful. Bloomington South is a small school compared to the likes of Carmel, Ben Davis, Warren Central, etc. I was using them as an example to prove that if the enrollment of a school mattered the Carmel's, BD's, and WC's would be much more successful as you are insinuating that they are.
  19. If you add the enrollment of the three most successful schools in IHSAA history (Bloom South, Hammond, MD), they do not equal the enrollment of Carmel. How many exceptions do you need to prove the size of school has NOTHING to do with the talent on the mat.
