  1. I agree with D. Mills. My son thought is was great. 4 Avon wrestlers attended. Asa Garcia, Nathan Conley, Tyler Conley and Gunnar Larson. All thought it was great. They got to meet and be able to learn from Coach Ward. Counting Ty Mills that makes 5 from Hendricks County that attended.
  2. Gunnar picked Wrestling over Football. He will not play Football at Army.
  3. What a great kid and family! Congratulations.
  4. On 9-11 Gunnar was on his official visit to West Point and committed to Coach Ward. He will join Cael McCormick and Ben Harvey as a Black Knight. God Bless America.
  5. Nathan Conley (DB) Caden Hubner (LB) and Gunnar Larson (DL) Starting on the Avon Defense.
  6. I believe he has an offer from Western Illinois and Northern Illinois is very interested. Also he is very good.
  7. Biddle at Plainfield will sign a D1 FB scholarship
  8. Parris weighed 214 at VB. Larson weighed 216. Larson weighed 206 at Grand River Rumble. Both playing FB under 220.
  9. Brownsburg EMD - Depends on Nick? Portage Avon PM 220- Parris, Larson, Crider, Haire 285 - Ellis, Samuels, Biddle, Scroggs I am not as sure about other weight classes? Tonte looked great at VB and Disney at 195. I do see Wilderman during the season and he is very good at 195.
  10. Mason, Gunnar and Evan each have 2 State medals. It will be hard to get by them to win a championship.
  11. My son wrestled on the Juniors Team last year, both styles. Went 13-3 over all. These are the reasons we did not send him this year. 1. Cost, went to VB (Team wrestled 11 matches) went to Disney (Team wrestled 13 matches). Flew to both. Disney rooms were paid for as well as 3 meals a day. Tulsa trip cost more than both combined and it is an 11 hour bus ride each way. The Illinois and Washington parents last year told me what they paid and it was a fraction of what Indiana kids had to pay. 2. Dr. would not release my son to wrestle until 2 days before the Wabash dual's. From State Tournament until 2 days before Wabash, NO wrestling. Could not do qualifiers. 3. Was not on the first list posted of who made the team, even though he was on the team the year before. 4. Already has narrowed his choice to 2 Universities and both came to VB to watch him wrestle.
  12. Congratulations to Asa Garcia and Gunnar Larson. They were both named to the NHSCA Academic All American Team. A total of 138 kids from 30 states and 13 different sports were named.
  13. Larson from Avon went 13-0, Conley 12-1, Brewer 11-1, Garcia 11-2, Williamson (Zville) 11-2, Clark 10-3. Those were the best records for Avon. They were 8-5 in Dual Meets. Drew Williamson from Zionsville replaced Caden Hubner who was at Football Camp. The rest of the kids were Avon kids. Rioux 106 and Henson 285 were not released from Dr. to wrestle yet. They did not make the trip.
  14. I watched every match of the High Roller Black Team at VB. They were awesome. Congratulations to Coach Cash, Coach Vaughn, Brandi and the kids. The record was 10-1, 5th place and won a medal. Beat the team that beat them last year. Only loss was to Kong who won the tournament. I did see several other IN teams wrestle. Indiana kids won many matches at VB. 3 College coaches told me how impressed they were with the IN kids, Army, Air Force and Old Dominion. I had my husband explain the 1 class to them and the No wrestle backs in our Regional - State Tournament. Where at State the kids who finish 2,3 and 5 all are 3-1 in the same grouping of 16. One of the coaches told me that if that was the State of PA, bad things would happen, :-). Just an FYI, they were all in favor of classed wrestling. I'm not sure that I am? IN can be proud of all the kids that went. The top 8 teams were elite. The others that made the top 32 were very good. We had 2 IN teams make the top 32. Lots of those kids will be wrestling at Disney in the All Star Division, Large School Division and Small School Division. Good luck to all of the kids. I will be there watching and cheering for the Indiana Teams.
  15. Duke will be at Avon June 1st running a 1 day camp. It is on the Avon RTC post
  16. I would disagree with the 2 teams. Just 1 one weight class (220) the past 4 years, having 2 teams would have eliminated Kobe Woods, Gunnar Larson and Evan Ellis. I know there are many more examples, but keeping these 3 out does not seem right. All 3 wrestled for the Gorilla's because they were not picked by IHSWCA. All 3 are multiple State Medal winners.
  17. You should contact everyone to verify seeding information. Team Indiana Blue has already posted incorrect information on every kid, records are wrong.
