True second is pointless and a non factor if the kids are properly seeded. The committee that is the IHSAA needs to be wise and listen to counsel. Counsel being the guys that have an unbelievable amount of results and experience to list the rankings.

Nothing pissed me off more this weekend then hearing the crowd boo every time there
was injury time or any other little thing that they did not like.    You should be ashamed
of yourself if you boo a young Man in High school.   He is not out there for your enjoyment.
He is out there working his butt off to win the match.  By this time of year.  Almost everyone
of them are dealing with something, that most of you would call in sick and stay home for.

There should definitely be wrestle backs and true second. I for one wouldn't mind the extra time or extra money for a more expensive ticket. It is hard for some of these kids like Kemper, James, Koontz, Bailey, and B. Lee (at SS) to watch a wrestler they have beaten multiple times step up higher on the podium simply because of a bad draw or one bad match (or injury). No discredit to the other guys who placed ahead of them, but it was very obvious in some of the placings at SS and State that wrestle backs and true second matches should have taken place. It is very heartbreaking for kids who know and have proven they are better than kids placing before them, to watch matches they should be participating in for a place. I also think the brackets should not have the two and sometimes three best kids on the same side of the bracket.

Match was 4-2 when the fall happened, would of been 7-4 if Lee survived and got off his back. Lee was winning but not dominating, looked really tuff though. I was a little disappointed that when Cash was doing his interview that some fans were booing, as if he did something wrong... have a little class

Cash won. Definitely the better wrestler tonight. Great job. Interesting that Cash "caught" Lee, but Lee didn't "catch" James. Truth is.. All three are phenomenal wrestlers and deserved a state title today. Congrats to Cash, Lee, and James for tremendous seasons/careers!

some people are missing the point on the getting a new draw by saying to win you have to beat the best.  There are two problems to this logic.  1. - some kids realistically can't win but they can place with the right draw.   2.  since we crown a team champion from an individual event, teams need to rack up as many points as possible which may mean the difference between losing friday night and placing top 4.   so for anyone saying the draw doesn't matter, just doesn't get it.
 
as far as changing the brackets - do i have this correct - the brackets were correct saturday night but when the ihsaa started putting them together on Sunday they had a different formula.  rather than going back to the original brackets from saturday night, they just kept going with what they had on sunday?   and we are supposed to believe this?
 
1.  if the brackets were not supposed to be released saturday night at merrillville then there should be consequences with that situation.
 
2.  if it was ok to release the brackets, then the IHSAA should have kept it as is.

Why don't they just redo them again and end the madness?

Now that my wrestling career at Avon High School is over I would like to thank all the coaches and people who have helped me become the wrestler and person I am today. Thanks to my high school coaches you guys are a second set of parents to me and helped me through my darkest days. To my teammates you guys stare my backbone and I wouldve never gotten as far as I did without you. And to all my other coaches that I have came to your club thank you for all of the knowledge you have given me to further my wrestling abilities. Finally to every person who I have even talked to at a wrestling tournament and has told me how I wrestled great or tried to help me back up when I was down thank you it really means a lot to know how sto eg of a wrestling family Indiana is as a whole. To all of you seniors wrestling this weekend go out there with no doubt in your mind that you will win don't hold yourself back.

is it possible that the brackets that were posted saturday night were just plain and simple, not properly done, and that the ihsaa did nothing wrong?.....they (the ihsaa) drew the brackets as they always do on sunday and the only one to blame for this mess is whomever put together the brackets saturday and posting something that wasn't right? 

and then the next question is who put the brackets together saturday evening if the ihsaa didn't?.....or did they?

With all the hoopla I can see this weeks Wrestling Wednesday article being on BracketGate and a comparison how the semi-finals & finals are predicted to have shapended up in both versions.  Not that any of them were going to turn out perfect for everyone, but it sured seemed like the original version had a few more fan friendly alignments.

You have 3 for each first round match, but also two added due to having a different possibility of a champion in each quarter bracket.
 
Then throw in the random placement of each quarter bracket there are quite a few different possibilities.

This just shows you that the people in charge get brackets done take a look and if it's not what they want,"eh" just re-shuffle! Ooh! "That's better" let's go with this one!

Now #1-#2-#3 all on the same side. Works out good for Penn and Yorktown

This angers me beyond belief. Yes, knowing the draw before you wrestle most certainly can change the way someone wrestles. In a sport that is based on never quitting, going until you break or you've broken your opponent, fighting for that #1 seed because you've earned the right for that ranking/draw, the fact that anyone was "advertising the draws for coaches to pick up" in the hopes of promoting what I believe to be behavior completely opposed to the whole mentality of wrestling itself, really angers me.

This is not right. I could see a lawsuit coming. Not from me but don't be surprised.

220 was changed and that's a shame because Gurrea and woods #3 should be under the lights not in the semi finals.
