  1. Apologies if this looks like it’s copied…I don’t think it does! Kory don’t check the board much so….it doesn’t look it! Lol 125 Lee #1 133 Byrd #10 141 Hardy #4 149 Gomez #15….wildcard 157 Humphreys #5 165 Monday #5 174 Starocci #1 184 Brooks #3 197 Silas #8 285 Hilger #11 i think he thought it was 5 points for any and all seed! Mercy. We ride ….anyway! Thanks for doing this! Go IN dudes!
  2. Is it just 5 bonus points if seed exceeded..or 5 points per seed exceeded ie 10 seed finishes 5 you get 25 points?
  3. Bless you for your service, @crosstownrivals . Let the record show I would not be involved in this sport without this man, for which I thank you. The thread being about growing the sport, let's connect the dots. Crosstown works at just one of three feeder schools in a large school corp that has wrestling tradition and success. He lost 15 kids that had an initial interest and most likely some athletic skill, at his one jr high. So, assume that the other two jr high feeder schools lost the same or similar number due to the same reasons. That's 40-50 kids in one school corp. That's about 3, maybe 4, teams of Fighting @Galagores that we are trying to "grow" by having class wrestling. One might say it would be better and/or more beneficial to make the sport "cool" and try to figure something out to keep these kids. I get the tired classing argument, but as we've seen statistically with hoops...that doesn't seem to be the panacea we class supporters think? I do think that MMA/UFC might have a positive impact on the coolness factor but maybe isn't promoted in the manner needed? I dunno...I just think classing isn't the growth mechanism we think and has been proven thru hoops.
  4. I have seen several notifications on the Twitter machine this past hoop season that some (not many, but more than you would expect) JV and especially freshman games have been cancelled due to low numbers here in the NorthLands. Only thing I can surmise is that, similar to this thread discussion, the kids/parents see that Little Johnny just isn't as good as the others and doesn't see a future and/or doesn't want to make the time commitment to getting better and goes back to the PS5. Yes, I would also assume there are more hoop "programs" but let's be honest, how many of those new programs rosters are made up of kids that would have been on the JV/freshman teams of powerhouse teams? Little Johnny on the JV team as a Junior? Let's move to "insert small/parochial/charter school" here so he can get that varsity letter and make the past 8-10 years of "travel ball" worth it! So it's not like the numbers grow...they just move somewhere they can play varsity and thus you have forfeits at other schools that you would normally not see. Thus watering down the bigger/tradition rich schools moreso than normal and less kids to "step in to replace them" as you state. They don't step in...they step out, to another school. Just a counter theory to your hypothesis.
  5. Ok..and this is why I don't do homework. Maybe my Ball U degree didn't really pay off, but so if I'm reading this correctly...the number of hoops kids playing went down after classing it, but we feel that won't happen with wrestling, in fact, just the opposite. What am I missing? We want to grow the sport thru classing but unless I'm reading it wrong, the evidence, at least in hoops, does not support that hypothesis. Ugh...I vowed not to do this again this year, but here I am. Gimme all the smoke class system warriors! I will die on this hill.
  6. I don't know why I do this to myself every year... I know not the answer to this question, and will not go to the basketball board to look, but are more kids playing basketball now that IN is classed? Or are more kids just getting a trophy? I grew up a big hoops guy, but I haven't been able to name more than one team in the classed finals since they started it and have not felt a need to attend it since. Is attendance for the hoop finals up or down since inception? I'd guess down. I can only formulate an opinion based on similarities, and if you believe that hoops is better in the state since classification, then I guess you can convince me wrestling could have the same result, but I don't feel that way and have yet to be convinced. Now get off my lawn, @Galagore...I blame you for sucking me back into this yearly freakin' thread. Quit taggin' me..I had this thread on IGNORE!
  7. SMH...19 hours of a new Class topic and you dudes only have 4 pages..you all are slackin'! Again, I do not support class wrestling for all the reasons mentioned the past 10 years. I understand and respect your opinions/arguments @Galagore...but you're wrong! This will be my last post on this subject..this year. Carry on, class wrestling supporters!
  8. Embrace the power of punctuation. I ran outta breath reading the longest sentence in board history. I support the kingsmen…but unless certain schools secede from the state, I don’t foresee a state championship scenario. Gotta have hope….in Harper we trust!
  9. You got no friends, bro @Galagore? I'll sit next to you next year....as long as you promise to not start a class wrestling thread the day after Finals! I kid of course...I support @Galagore..but not class wrestling.
  10. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the many Penn coaches/mentors that made the 2016 State Championship possible, long before it came to fruition. These dudes at the middle school level along with all the PWC coaches were, and are, terrific. Dave Manspeaker...Grissom Middle School Raoul Donati............Discovery Middle School assisted by a @crosstownrivalsand Dave Metcalf Tom Dolly.................Schmucker Middle School It takes a village and alot of behind the scenes non glamorous work....it seems as tho wrestling has more of these types than most, but I'm biased. Great coaches, but better mentors. And of course behind the direction of the Xtreme HarpDog!!!
  11. Brooks!!! Great fight. Great win. Happy for him and Robert. LFG
  12. It does not, you must start a new thread so I know to hit the "mark site read" button when I get to it. Now I"d click on this one thinking i was getting relevant info on the EN invite. @MUSKEEWRESTLING is relatively new, he'll catch on after his 85th class thread. Cut him some slack. To stay on topic...I'm glad to see women's wrestling moving forward in the state and especially No Cen IN with a potential EN invite.
  13. Too funny... I was just thinking what a miracle/blessing it's been not having a summer class wrestling discussion but didn't' want to jinx it! To stay on topic, I support women's wrestling. Go Penn ladies!
  14. Wait...is @JMILLMilton from Office Space without the glasses? Who knew?????
  15. I like Cormier on the call but gibbons seems to not say anything and I like what he brings to the commentary.
  16. Just good to know @Dingo Brigadeis still alive and in the garage bunker!
  17. Bummed for Red. That ref was acting like it was a middle school match. Hate to end that way
  18. We need to do an ncaa bracket pick ‘em or point fantasy pool some year like high school. To stay on topic I’ve been a Rayvon Foley fanboy for awhile. Fun to watch.
  19. Can’t wait for the new XNPWC indiana mat handle! Wow
