  1. Thats funny because...you know...one is a blind squirrel AND ...you know...one is a nut!!
  2. I heard a Ft Wayne SS fan pushed Old Region Fan off that balcony because a region kid was beatin a Ft W kid!
  3. I want to know what Old Region Fan drives(or did drive before he got locked up)? Im sure it has second rate beer stains on the seats from him trying to hold his cigarette and beer at the same time while driving up hill both ways in da region
  4. Thank you grappleapple. That puts things in perspective. I'm not one to be tellin tells outta school, but I am wondering what semi-states are rising, falling and/or staying the same regarding those results?
  5. So any breakdown of state champs/final fours by semi-state from last year? As i recall from last year, there are some quite capable statisticians on this site. If it has already been posted, i missed it from laughing so hard at greco165s "ouch".
  6. No rule changes, just have refs call by the existing rules. Agree that most people want stalling called on those they are rooting against. Thankfully we have this forum to speak freely and call those people out on it
  7. Wrestlers adapt to how the refs call stalling, which is a product of how indiana referees operate now. All i would ask is the refs call stalling by the rules, which is to call it exactly when they see it no matter the period or situation; its clear they dont do that now. And its not always on the feet. When the top wrestler is riding with his hips on top of the bottom wrestlers hips and just staying there, it should be called whether the first match of the year or the biggest match in Indiana's history.
  8. While i dont actually know how many from ECSS are in finals, maybe old region fan was on to something.
  9. Anyone know how many FWSS as compared to ECSS are in finals?
  10. Love announcer on mat 4 on trackwrestling video feed. Pronounced Lukaszka's name 3 different ways during the match(I couldn't do any better), used the phrase "for no apparent reason" when describing a move, talking about the pacers jerseys in the rafters, etc. Very knowledgeable and called em right all night and absolutely a hoot of a commentator!
  11. One way to identify a region fan, especially an old one, is that when you mention "trolling", they start talking about how all the fish in their area are tougher than all the fish in the rest of the state
  12. "I'm not sure you can get AIDS by burning down your house, but I get your point." Jay Billington Bulworth
  13. I don't know the number, but I bet the driver's name is Lloyd. Tell him you are from the region and he will probably ask you "Well! How are things in Hamilton County?"
  14. It's as if the sport will improve if you FORCE people to watch the heavyweights. If the people that usually leave, have to watch the heavyweights, they will be eating popcorn, talking, texting and on Facebook etc. while others are watching and cheering the higher weights. Give the heavyweight wrestlers the credit they deserve. They know people leave early and why. They would know that people wouldn't be there watching them if the weights were different. They don't do it for the fans or to be popular. They do it because they have integrity and no number of fans can give that to them or take it away. They may not dance before the matches or wear shiny warm ups, but they know how much they sweat, bleed and hurt every day of the year and that night. I don't feel pity for them for not being watched by more fans. That would be an insult to them. I feel great knowing there are people that have to work as hard or harder than others without the glory, and continue to do it day in, day out and on that night...for themselves. They are the ones that gain the most out of the sport by putting so much into it knowing they get what s coming to them; their integrity.
  15. When you say "having the last match as something meaningful", you ARE inferring that the others are not meaningful. Otherwise, why use that phrase in comparison between the last match and the others. It seems we are worried about what non-hardcore fans think when we should be looking at ourselves and how we think about our sport. Obviously everyone (including Y2CJ41)posting here is knowledgeable about and cares about wrestling, so it is somewhat telling to use that phrase. Just saying that I got what 1prouddad got out of that statement.
  16. We can do more, just not to that extent. I would just draw the line there.
  17. I agree with many of the points on both sides. However, I favor keeping it the way it is. Wrestlers, regardless of the weight, don't wrestle for the fans. They wrestle for themselves. I just think it would be the wrong message (read basketball like) to alter the system to get more fans to stay and watch to make wrestling more popular. Wrestling isn't for everybody and we should not change just to adapt to others. That goes against what wrestling is about. I like that it is a select group. Those of us who truly appreciate it (wrestlers and fans) will appreciate it no matter who wrestles last. IMHO
  18. Yes. I agree that its a big "if" and i think Red is as good as whathe is ranked. I am a big fan of both wrestlers and like it was said, they have to wrestle. It will be something to watch!
  19. 1.) if the match wasnt stopped, we "might" be talking about one state champ as opposed to a competively high percentage of state champs from FWSS. 2.) if you watch that match on youtube, he was on his back when it was stopped. 3.) IMHO, if Red tries any funk against Lee or gets out of position like he did two years ago, he could very well get caught and not get back up. These are not slams against any of the wrestlers, just observations. They are both obviously great wrestlers with great futures ahead. I like others hope they meet in the finals unlike Vega and Schaeffer did. I dont know if anyone but Old Region Fan rembers that match, but those were two greats that had successful college careers also. While that match seemed a little cautious, i think there will be fireworks when Lee and Red meet!!!!!
  20. Hope FWSS does rise because it is good for all of us. And although I have doubts that it will produce a state champion this year, I would have had doubts that a boy from Fairfield would have had a now three time state champ on his back screaming in pain for the ref to stop the match under the lights...BUT that happened a couple of years ago!!! No other semi-state has produced a wrestler that has done that! So you got that goin for ya
  21. One year they had a good showing? Yes they have had some very good state champions and wrestlers, but overall have had the least champions and final four wrestlers than any other semi-state on a consistent basis. Last year, year before.....? The fact that this thread was even started is saying something about the FW semi-state,
