I think that they should reserve the first couple of rows for parents and grandparents and let the wrestlers immediate family to sit mat side in the finals just like they do at the NCAA's.

Yet....businesses love wrestlers as employees for what they've learned from being a wrestler. The world pays for flash and sparkle and not where the real work is done....sad.

That said, with NIL money in play, it will take a larger financial commitment from the university, as you basically have to bid on top level talent now. Michigan went out and bought themselves a pretty nice team this year.

We are very proud of our new facility (2021). It is on the second floor directly above several locker rooms, training room, and weight room. Huge storage room on the end capable of holding about 8 mats. Currently also houses coaches office, mop sink, meeting area and lockers. A few cardio pieces, small track, benches, timers, incredible sound system. Curtains to divide youth practices. Basically four full size mats. HVAC system is on BMS allowing detailed control of room temp, timing etc. Lots of natural light. We could not be happier given our school size.     

Well Cole Matthews is a formidable opponent & lot better than his ranking & record this year might indicate. He spent a portion of last year ranked #1 at 141.
 
Matthews is pretty much a defensive wrestler who rarely gets bonus point wins but manages to win a vast majority of his matches. Jesse controlled the pace the entire match but couldn't break through Matthews defense. He escaped quickly in the second period & then rode Matthews for most of the 3rd. Unfortunately, he got a little lackadaisical at the end & gave up the last second TD.
 
I'd bet good money Jesse gets him if they meet again.

It's pretty simple...   You can ask two separate questions.

1. Is Nick Lee the best HS wrestler IN has ever produced?
2. Is Nick Lee the best wrestler from Indiana?
Actually you could add a 3rd... Is Nick Lee the best wrestler ever from Indiana that wrestled HS in IN? (this one eliminates any Gable arguments ha ha) 

You seem to be focused on #1 whereas others are focused on #2.  

In my mind, the answer to #1 is no.  The answer to #2 is maybe, but the fact that none of the others in the discussion have 2 NCAA Titles matters.  As FCFighter said, his International resume is far from complete.  I think he can get there, and hope he does, but I'm willing to say he has a shot to be.  

#3 is the same as #2 but eliminates those that want to bring Gable into this.

And as equally important....a solid kid off the mat! The young man is confident yet humble. His dad is too, but lacks the corn hole skills to be at this same level

When Jace beat Gavin, I told my wife that it was going to be Jesse and Jace in the finals. Sad that he didn’t get to finish the tournament. Hopefully he is doing better today. 
 
Jace was the first kid that made Jesse want to train harder. Definitely a dangerous and fun wrestler to watch. Thank you for the nice post. 

Just came across this picture of Montgomery from Brownsburg talking to Heath from Leo after their match. I know a lot of these guys who wrestle each other are practicing together all the time and it’s amazing to see how much they respect each other. Does anyone else have any pictures or examples of instances like this?

And they’re not even letting the kids that just lost collect themselves. This is an emotional sport...it’s not unsportsmanlike. Every single person has been pissed off...try taking a picture when you are! At the very least let them cool off and the emotion die off a bit. 

There should be only one state champ in a weight class, there has been many schools and wrestlers that are still able to compete at a high level from small schools, wrestlings a rare sport that relies on work ethic rather than numbers of bodies at school or athleticism. If you look at the kids doing successful in Indiana it’s not because they’re at a big school it’s because they work their tail off in the off-season as well as during season. Also labeling multiple kids state champs devalues that label as there would always be talk on who was the actual best wrestler in each weight class. If you have a champion mindset every person should be striving to be the best in the state not the best kid in schools population under 200 kids. 🤷‍♂️

That’s good, cause I know Ike and the rest of the 113lbers have been slacking. 

So they have guy from out of the state who live in their district...... people that want to move into our state for our competition and better exposure BRING IT ON!!!  Come and make our state better at wrestling and give us more depth. 

Cam and Woodze have done a great job!! The school has typically been a football supported school and wrestling doesn't get much love....just look at their wrestling room 😕 However, the club and board have supported the growth these two have been able to generate. Hopefully these young men and their parents realize the life lessons wrestling provides and they stay at it.
