I'll add to what maligned said....there was also a big recruit at that match watching? Why....if it doesn't matter then sit at home. It does to these kids....I was there too and the smiles on their faces and the talk after the match....they care. Talked to Steiber the next morning....he cares. Said it was one of the most fun matches....endings...he's been a part of.
I get what you're saying and you need to be wrestling your best at the end of the year.....but it means something.
Yet....businesses love wrestlers as employees for what they've learned from being a wrestler. The world pays for flash and sparkle and not where the real work is done....sad.
Could you seed both wrestlers respectively? Have alternate brackets ready to go depending on who wrestles. Limit the team to one or two alternates per team to limit the chaos of bracket seeding already
I just watched Snider and Bellmont on YouTube....what happened during that match? Was it taunting by one of the few Snider wrestlers that won? Hard to really tell.
And as equally important....a solid kid off the mat! The young man is confident yet humble. His dad is too, but lacks the corn hole skills to be at this same level
And they’re not even letting the kids that just lost collect themselves. This is an emotional sport...it’s not unsportsmanlike. Every single person has been pissed off...try taking a picture when you are! At the very least let them cool off and the emotion die off a bit.
National kids picking Penn? There has to be more than that for a reason a family moves!? I think transfers before season are ok but not during the season. Gives the kids that are “put aside” time to work harder (or should’ve been before) and/or adjust. Wrestling prepares you for the real world and although we think of it as a high school sport...these are young men getting ready for the real world. Anyone can take a job if they’ve worked hard and put themselves in the best position to get that job. Helps who you know some times also:) Just my 2 cents.
Cam and Woodze have done a great job!! The school has typically been a football supported school and wrestling doesn't get much love....just look at their wrestling room However, the club and board have supported the growth these two have been able to generate. Hopefully these young men and their parents realize the life lessons wrestling provides and they stay at it.
We were sitting second row center stage for that one and I can remember the look on Samuels face when Rickie picked up that single...a little grin...like it’s on now. Then throughout the match they would smile...they knew they were putting on a show.
Great match and show of support for the effort the big guys gave!
