Wrestling Scholar got a reaction from SIACfan in What Leasons Are Being Taught Off The Mat
Ill point out that the bad news always gets more attention, so this isn't necessarily so.
In my interactions, 99% of the time I see good sportsmanship, good behavior and people enjoying the sport. Just like our news, the negative makes a good story, but it sure doesnt mean that its the norm. Ive been around wrestling for years, and crazy ***potty mouth*** has always happened.
Not sure what happened in the IHSAA event, but maybe handled wrong, but the IHSAA doesnt look kindly on stuff described. Im sure this was investigated and acted on. Guns are so prevalent, people love them, but still this is an anomaly.
On the ISWa tournament, there was a lot of brotherly wrestling love this weekend. 99% of people were great, appreciative and enjoying themselves. Its like a giant wrestling reunion. Yes, there was some incidents from passionate people whose behavior could have been better. But I dont think the original poster knows the full circumstances of the situation described. I say look at all the good this weekend, kids of all ages learning sportsmanship, making friends enjoying competing. It overshadows any negative, and that crazy behavior is not anything new. Always some bad apples.

Wrestling Scholar reacted to Christopher Bohn in ISWA state finals hot dog review.
This past weekend I attended the ISWA event at Warren Central. I wasn't gonna do a review, but I had more than a few denizens of the Indiana wrestling scene ask me to do one. So, here I am. First, I'm not sure if these are the hot dogs that Warren usually sells, or if these are from an ISWA contracted vendor. Anyways, at first glance, the hot dog did not look appealing. It looked plucked right out of the movie "Nothing but Trouble" that starred Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, and the late, great John Candy(who pulled double duty). I was ready to put buying this hot dog into my worst decisions of my life category, which includes getting married, accepting the Clockwork Orange therapy to avoid a curfew ticket, and eating a hot dog from Hanover Central. Fortunately, it wasn't that bad. It wasn't good, but, it was at least two steps above Alpo. 3 slices of pizza outta 8
Next weekend I'm going to Iowa, and on St Patrick's day, I'll be at Mooresville highschool. Hopefully the luck o' Irish will strike and the hot dog gods will gift me another outstanding experience at the home of the Pioneers. Thank you for reading.

I see the sarcasm, but to that point: you would get a $25K tax write-off as a consolation and get some of it back. 😉

I agree. College coaches have so many more tools now to recruit kids. There are all kinds of national rankings, big national tournaments, USA Wresling PIn rankings and Flowrestling videos. Its much more of a science now to recruit as a result. Actually, any state tournament event is now outshined and minimized by the plethora of data and video for coaches to use. Class or no class wrestling, it really doensnt mean much to the college coach.

Wrestling Scholar got a reaction from jwilly in CA vs. IN
Yes, just like all other states, they use wrestlebacks to ensure proper placing and that the best guys get through, and not award lucky favorable draws.

Yea, small schools get the raw deal. But does the IHSAA care? They'll never change its part of the IHSAA "Hoosier" DNA. 50 years from now @Galagore grand kids will be posting on Indianamat futurama on why small schools have such a low success rate at the state tournament.

Geez Zach, do see what you did. @Galagore job productivity went to zero the last two days. For sure he's been saving content for this post all season. We dont want it to go to waste.

As stated previously this hall of fame is ran by crooked media folks who don't care. All rules are as valuable as the napkin they were written on.

Wrestle backs you say? What an interesting idea.
Please tell me, have any other states implemented these "wrestle backs" , or would Indiana be the first?
