  1. I did get a ticket for 120. Good wrestling. Got to sit in the cornell sectoon. They were pumped up.
  2. Yea, Im doing last second trip to KC to see the finals. Cheapest tix on resell last night were $126. I might have to be patient. Even wrestling is getting expensive
  3. Ill point out that the bad news always gets more attention, so this isn't necessarily so. In my interactions, 99% of the time I see good sportsmanship, good behavior and people enjoying the sport. Just like our news, the negative makes a good story, but it sure doesnt mean that its the norm. Ive been around wrestling for years, and crazy ***potty mouth*** has always happened. Not sure what happened in the IHSAA event, but maybe handled wrong, but the IHSAA doesnt look kindly on stuff described. Im sure this was investigated and acted on. Guns are so prevalent, people love them, but still this is an anomaly. On the ISWa tournament, there was a lot of brotherly wrestling love this weekend. 99% of people were great, appreciative and enjoying themselves. Its like a giant wrestling reunion. Yes, there was some incidents from passionate people whose behavior could have been better. But I dont think the original poster knows the full circumstances of the situation described. I say look at all the good this weekend, kids of all ages learning sportsmanship, making friends enjoying competing. It overshadows any negative, and that crazy behavior is not anything new. Always some bad apples.
  4. Just two matches left, and someonw had to pull the alarm. Jusr a 20 minute pit stop.
  5. Couldnt get the bandwidth at Warren Central and cameras were using to much and knocking track down, so wxecutive fecision made to shut them down.
  6. depends on what weight, but you you should get 2 or 3
  7. It would be cool if we got @Regionrat1, well for the region regionals. And if he spoke in the same accent as he types in. Well assuming he's not too busy in Florida or something.
  8. I see the sarcasm, but to that point: you would get a $25K tax write-off as a consolation and get some of it back.
  9. I agree. College coaches have so many more tools now to recruit kids. There are all kinds of national rankings, big national tournaments, USA Wresling PIn rankings and Flowrestling videos. Its much more of a science now to recruit as a result. Actually, any state tournament event is now outshined and minimized by the plethora of data and video for coaches to use. Class or no class wrestling, it really doensnt mean much to the college coach.
  10. Are we saying we need metal detectors at wrestling tournaments now?
  11. Yea, small schools get the raw deal. But does the IHSAA care? They'll never change its part of the IHSAA "Hoosier" DNA. 50 years from now @Galagore grand kids will be posting on Indianamat futurama on why small schools have such a low success rate at the state tournament.
  12. Geez Zach, do see what you did. @Galagore job productivity went to zero the last two days. For sure he's been saving content for this post all season. We dont want it to go to waste.
  13. I think like in baseball, we can vote them in on the vetetans comittee ballot.
  14. Rebranding!!!!! Briliiiant. Class wrestling sucks. But "Division Wrestling", thats good.
  15. Well similarities are both individual sport, and endurance and fitness are key elements that are affected by injury time outs. You guys got to think outside the box
  16. Yes, just like all other states, they use wrestlebacks to ensure proper placing and that the best guys get through, and not award lucky favorable draws.
  17. Well you can't blame them. What would you do, surf or wrestle? I would be surfing. Remeber, you "either surf of fight", and Indiana dont surf.
  18. Appreciate the recognition, but dang it. Weve been trying to hang with a low profile. .
  19. I heard he went to Fountain Central??? which is close. Lets confirm
  20. Scott Hall, AKA Razor Ramone went to my high school, he played basketball. For real!! But he did a lot in wrestling after high school : You said accomplished wrestler!!! Besides being one of the greatest heals of all time: He won the WCW 60 man battle royal in 1997 and had these championships and accolades: American Wrestling Association AWA World Tag Team Championship (1 time) – with Curt Hennig[16] DDT Pro-Wrestling Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship (1 time)[177] Pro Wrestling Illustrated Match of the Year (1994)[178]vs. Shawn Michaels in a ladder match at WrestleMania X Most Improved Wrestler of the Year (1992)[179] Tag Team of the Year (1997)[180]with Kevin Nash Ranked No. 7 of the top 500 singles wrestlers in the PWI 500 in 1994[181] Ranked No. 72 of the top 500 singles wrestlers of the PWI Years in 2003[182] Ranked No. 40 and No. 98 of the top 100 tag teams of the PWI Years with Kevin Nash and Curt Hennig, respectively, in 2003[183] Total Nonstop Action Wrestling TNA World Tag Team Championship (1 time) – with Kevin Nash and Eric Young[a] United States Wrestling Association USWA Unified World Heavyweight Championship (1 time)[184] World Championship Wrestling WCW World Television Championship (1 time)[93] WCW United States Heavyweight Championship (2 times)[185][186][187] WCW World Tag Team Championship (7 times) – with Kevin Nash (6) and The Giant (1)[76] World War 3 (1997)[81] World Wrestling Council WWC Caribbean Heavyweight Championship (1 time)[23] WWC Universal Heavyweight Championship (1 time)[112] World Wrestling Federation/WWE WWF Intercontinental Championship (4 times)[188][189][190][191] WWE Hall of Fame (2 times) Class of 2014 – individually[4] Class of 2020 – as a member of the New World Order[192] Slammy Award (2 times) Most Spectacular Match (1994) vs. Shawn Michaels in a ladder match at WrestleMania X[193] Match of the Year (1996) vs. Shawn
  21. 1. Tennis has more defined stoppages, and yes they call there injury time-outs after a point. But it really isnt that much different. In wrestling a) the wrestler works through injury until stoppage (out of bounds, end of period, PD,etc )then calls injury T.O. b) or calls injury T.O.during no significant scoring activity which happens a lot c) Or its called during scoring action where uninjured wrestler is awarded points if there is imminent scoring or awarded an additional nearfall point. My point is that just like tennis, a lot of injuries are called after stoppage or occur when no significant action is occuring. But the similarity is where there can be an advantage to the tennis player in catching wind and recovering from exhaustion and/or to change/slow momentum. It is also against the ATP/ USTA rules in tennis to call an injury when no injury has occurred. But there is not a tennis umpire that would call it.
  22. A lot of times the referee stoppage/"wrestler call out" is the same thing. For example, If a kid is yelling, "my knee, my knee". Then the ref susequently stops it for injury, who called the injury time out under your proposed rule?
  23. I try to be inclusive as were comparing individual sports. Its not as ridiculous as billiards, which you apparently can get hurt in. There was some irony intended. But, tennis and wrestling are more similar then you think when it comes to controversies over injuries. They're the two sports where you see controversies over injury timeouts, even more in tennis There's been some a few moments in tennis where some big momentum swings occurred. As documented in the move "King Richard", which was about Serena's and Venus dad, Richard Williams. In Venus' 1st pro tournament, she was playing #1 world player Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario. Venus destroyed Sanchez-Vicario in the 1st set. The veteran Sanchez-Vicario took an extended injury timeout, while the anxious Venus Williams waited. This totally affected the match, and she ended up winning the match.
