    To add more to the dilema. I saw on FB someone complaining about a kid qualifying for 126 and was allowed to register at 120. I did my research and found out that it actually occured. It looks like the "wrestlers will only be able to register for the weight class they qualified for" doesn't matter. I'm not a fan posting kids names, so I'll refrain from posting screen shots.

    You'll want to bring your own chairs. The tournament is held between the field house and main gym. The main gym has typical bleacher seating while the fieldhouse (SAC) has portable bleachers that fill quick and are not comfortable.

    Five Indiana wrestlers traveled overseas to compete in Estonia at the Tallinn Open on March 25 & 26. They all represented their state and country well!     Someone above posted about food/drink spilled everywhere at Carmel. The no food/drink in the field house is to protect the facility. $20 early weigh-ins are standard at most regional/national events. You are not required to weigh-in then. A wrestler can weigh-in for free the next day.

    Reasoning? Same reasoning that other tournaments don’t release the list/matrix. They want you to register without knowing who or how many people are signed up. Event organizers did this religiously pre-Covid and then relaxed it during Covid. Now it’s back in full swing. In my experience, you can change the wrestlers team at the head table before the tournament starts. It shouldn’t be a problem, if they are willing to work with you. I’ve done it plenty of times…parents who sign their kids make mistakes.

    I know some people looking for some BIG wrestling shoes for their kids. They are looking for size 17-20. I’ve seen 18 before and posted a lead a year ago for another coach, so I know they are out there. While I’m on the shoe topic.     Joe is absolutely correct. It will be a nightmare for everyone, even if it is moved somewhere within 50 miles of Indy it would be too expensive to stay in the area. I remember when Indy hosted the Super Bowl hotels were booked for miles around.

    I don't think they have ever had to qualify per se, just participate in two tournaments ahead of time. That was for both freestyle and Greco.

    Sports in general isn't like it was 20 years ago. I think with more athletes specializing in one or even two sports, the amount of work needed has increased. It's not enough to attend a week long summer camp, show up in November, and only have your teammates in the room as your only practice partners. There are outliers that can do it, but not many. I think that if you want to be a state placer, you need to put in the work year round. Practicing at least 3x week, attending your HS open room, traveling to compete, practice at an academy/club throughout the week. I don't think the "average" wrestler has that commitment. They may make their HS varsity team, but I doubt they see any kind of placement.

    Yes. One ticket per wrestler, but Southport doesn’t have restrictions.

    Unfortunately, many teams are forced to buy from a certain suppliers due to contractual obligations established by the school.

    No problem. I looked on the interweb too, but didn’t see anything remotely that size. Also thought about boxing shoes too.

    I reached out to some guys I follow on Instagram that buy and sell wrestling shoes. One guy gave me a lead. They are pricey, but said the seller might take $175. I hope it works out! Let me know if it does.

    Or allow a wrestler who ran out of injury time and ran off the mat to the bathroom and back to wrestle.

    CIA holds their practices a Lawrence North High School. They practice Sunday, Monday’s, and Wednesday’s from 630-800. Cost is $80/mo. They typically have three coaches in the room.
