Definitely a tough draw for Mastison and it would be an upset should he win, but I would go out on a limb and say he is the toughest #4 in that weight class. I wouldn't want to be the #1 in Davis' group either. Talk about a rough draw. I'm sure he will be on a mission next Saturday.

My mistake. Either way, Stock a 3 and Mastison a 4 sure does sound rough. I don't know if I would want to be the #1 that has to face Mastison or the #2 who faces Stock. Both are very good and will be difficult to beat.

Davis a 2, Mastison a 3, Stock a 4, Geobel a 3, Pierre a 3, Schroeder a 2, Hoehn a 2, Bassmeier a 3, Boehm a 2, Collins a 3. You are right a lot of depth in some weight classes. Can't wait until Saturday. Hope all of the guys have a great week of practice and show up ready to go Saturday.

Evansville Spectator, you have Batts moving on to the state finals and he finished fourth in his regional and did not have one ranked wrestler there in his weight class (other than himself). Do you have some inside information or can you explain that pick a little further. I know the wrestlers in front of him are good, but his first round matchup against Broukal is a tough one and I believe Broukal is a better wrestler than any of the three that finished ahead of him at regionals.

Last year we had it on Saturday. It wasn't even that late in the day.

So you think Mater Dei has an unfair advantage, but not other parochial schools? In what way would they have an unfair advantage and Cathedral, Evansville Memorial, Chatard, etc. would not? They are all bigger schools also. Seems like maybe that is who you should be going after.

Does anyone know if Holwager and Broukal have gone at it this year? If so, what was the result? It was a little bit of a surprise to see Holwager beat Gettinger at Team Regional. He must be wrestling well right now.

I think he should be Top 4 and possible top 2. Can he beat Todd, Petrov or Campbell? I guess that is the big question. Has he ever wrestled any of the three?

This is probably the best post that has been made on the subject. If the IHSAA really wanted to keep the Team series alive they could have with a few minor changes, but they didn't and they placed coaches in a tough spot. For so long the focus this time of year was on the individual series and suddenly it is supposed to be the team one day and the individual the next. Like someone mentioned earlier, if we could have the Team Regional the Wednesday after Individual State the focus could remain on individuals until that portion of the season were over. I don't think the blame can be placed solely in one spot. -

If P14HS is Ben Macri I would hope he would have enough confidence in himself to say he had a shot a winning it and not just at finishing second. I'm sure it's not him.

Easy there Tiger. No need to start throwing insults around, especially if my predictions come true. Obviously you don't think they will, but they just might. I just believe with Hoehn being a Sr. and former state qualifier he will beat the freshman. I know Schnell is good, but I believe Hoehn has the edge. I also feel like Oakley will beat Allen and yes, I have seen both wrestle. I have seen them live and in person several times and I believe Oakley wins. Just my opinion and I may be wrong. You can brag all you want next week if you are right, but I would hold off on the insults for now.
