  1. I'll try to remember that and from what I've read we have to do it like 5 times a match, right?
  2. Two wrestlers from the same regional can not meet in the ticket round. The could meet in the semis though.
  3. Damon Kuhn - Junior from Evansville Reitz just beat #3 ranked Jacob Brown of Castle for the Castle Regional title. Is that one of the Juniors you are talking about that isn't any good? Kuhn has been ranked anywhere from 4th to 8th this year.
  4. Any shot at seeing an Evansville Semi-State preview article?
  5. Close losses don't mean as much as wins do. Have either one of them beat anyone ranked? Do they have many common opponents that one may have beaten and the other not? I think it's much easier to keep it close and lose to someone than let it all hang out and win a big one. Show me you can win, not that you can lose a close one. I have no idea who may win this, but I would rather know who they have beat, not who they have lost to. If I had to guess though I would say Burlison. Just a hunch.
  6. Blue Bolt, I will be at the Ford Center this Saturday. I can't wait!!! I already have my singlet on. That is what you call those things, isn't it? Anyway, I will be rooting for all of our wrestlers from the Castle Regional. I hope to see some high finishes by our guys next weekend at Banker's Life Fieldhouse (yes, I will be there too). By the way, I have matured beyond the point of Ski. Maybe you could join us sometime at the Hilltop for a fishbowl of your favorite. I'm sure I will have a lot of questions for you after watching all of that wrestling. Hey, if you're looking for me this weekend my singlet is the reversible blue/red type and I've got some sweet Addidas shoes some kid left at regionals. I'm thinking of going red side out in the morning and afternoon and then blue out for the finals. You know, blue for champions. Great idea huh?
  7. Everyone is the semi-state is beatable. These are predictions and just that. They do it every Sunday on TV when they try to pick NFL winners. Are they wrong some? Yes, they are. But, people use their minds and make educated guesses as to who they think might win. Just because a person picks a guy to win doesn't mean they are saying that person is unbeatable. People shouldn't get so upset just because their kid or teammate isn't picked to win. There are reasons why some kids are chosen while others are not and past results has a lot to do with it. Remember, everyone is beatable at some point. It's just that with some wrestlers you have to go a little further to try to find someone who can do it.
  8. Pantherfan, we are all just having a little fun here. Blue Bolt came on here and started insulting other people's picks and whether or not they had ever seen a wrestling match (namely my picks and me). I know we won because we were supposed to and I also acknowledge that the Castle Sectional has many fine wrestlers involved. As a matter of fact, as Coach Harmon pointed out, they have had more top end talent than the Evansville Sectional for a few years. I think we all realize this is in fun. I would hope we continue to show the kids on the mat respect and from this point forward I know I will be rooting for ALL the Castle Regional wrestlers to advance as far as possible. I think the SIAC is the best conference in the state and southern Indiana has many more outstanding wrestlers. I hope they all bring their A games to the Ford Center on Saturday and the week after to Banker's Life Fieldhouse. I am sorry if anyone was offended.
  9. My $ is on Rueger winning it all at 152. He is a great kid and a machine on the mat. I would love to see him do it.
  10. That being said, Lahue is not your ordinary wrestler either. If I remember correctly there were some strange things happened in that 113 weight class at the Holiday Classic. If Lahue is good enough to beat Shepherd I don't see Stock having much of a chance. But, if he wrestles like he must have against Whitley, Stock has at least a shot at him.
  11. Hook, I would have rubbed it in more, but honestly after a beat down like that it didn't seem like much fun. It's like when you were 17 and you could pick on your 11 year old brother, but it wasn't really that much fun anymore. You know what I mean? If it was close maybe I could brag a little, you know, talk a little smack. When you just really embarrass somebody like that it's not that much fun to gloat. Oh well, maybe next week. Yours truly, 94% Accurate Wrestleman
  12. What makes you think Gettinger will beat Boston? Didn't he just lose to an unranked Holwager at team regional? Would be quite an upset I would think.
  13. I'm not sure what the best match will be, but I know there will be several great ones. 106 with Micic/Boston will be awesome. At 120 it could be any of the top 4 and will be a great showdown. 126 Ayersman vs. Crume/Lecount/Philips (I still wouldn't give it to Philips). Obviously 132 will two returning state champs in the field. 160 should be fantastic and so should 195. No question it will be a great two days of wrestling and I, for one, can't wait. First we have to get through semi-state though and nothing beats the anticipation of the ticket round there.
  14. At this point I guess we all would agree Batts was ranked a little too high, but he did have an outstanding record and a quality win. Maybe Jamison is ranked a little low, but he has lost to some of the guys ranked above him hasn't he? Has he wrestled Vanhook, Wedding, Pierre or Broukal this year and what was the outcome if he did? Where do you think he should fall into the rankings?
  15. This thread is CP vs. Perry, not Mater Dei.
  16. I agree. It doesn't bother me too much that we don't have wrestlebacks. We have them at sectional to try to make sure the best 4 move on to regional. I know we don't always get the best 16 to state, but that wouldn't happen anyway because of geography. I do think we probably come really close to getting the top 8 on the podium. Having said all of that, I would love to see the periods all be 2-2-2. I have never understood why we should shorten the first period just because these kids have lost a match in the tournament. They are all trying to get to the same place and should all be treated equally in their quest. I've seen a lot of scoreless first minutes of matches, especially as the competition grows, so why not give them all 2 minutes?
  17. What was the score in the 126 final? Broukal vs. Holwager
  18. I'll take Lecount. Will be a barn burner I'm sure.
  19. Pierre beat Jamison twice last year and won Jeff Classic where Jamison placed 6th, I think. Pierre also beat Holwager 11-4 at Jeff Classic. Pierre has also beat Broukal this year and is coming on lately. Only losses at 126 in Indiana are to Wedding (4x). I know nothing about Batts other than he finished 4th at his regional. I would say this one is Pierre's to lose.
  20. We ALL get worked up over kids wrestling or none of us would be on this site. It is fun to argue a little though.
  21. I would agree. It would be tough to give 1 and 2, but they were separated and facing one another. I have seen escapes given for less, but it was almost one continuous motion. Tough call, but definitely at least the 2 point reversal. He should have racked up another 10 seconds of riding time. BTW, does riding time continue into OT in college? Can that be a factor in determining the winner in OT? I have no idea, just thought I would ask.
  22. Thank you very much. You are too kind. I hope this shows Blue Bolt that I have actually been witness to a wrestling match.
