  1. I'm afraid I have to disagree on the first point. While I agree it is common, I don't think that makes it right. There are plenty of other things that could have been said in that instance. A simple "Wow, I've never seen that kind of raw strength!" would probably get the point across just as well. I completely agree on point 2 though. As a commentator you don't have to agree with the officials. You should be able to give your opinion as long as you can back it up with a rules interpretation that makes sense. Viewers should receive honest, unbiased, educated opinions from commentators.
  2. They did the same thing to Mater Dei this year in the 2A state football finals. Who knew Mike Goebel coached football at Mater Dei? But, getting the kids' names wrong is worse. These kids work so hard to get to the state finals and make that podium. Its sad and disrespectful not to have their names right. I know mistakes happen but damn.
  3. Apparently the expectation of common sense among people has become unrealistic. That is sad but probably can provide some insight as to why our country is headed the direction it is.
  4. I don’t see that happening but you wouldn’t hear me complain either
  5. The number wasn't just beaten, it was destroyed. Crown Point has a special special team. What they did was amazing. Records get broken. Mater Dei held it for almost 20 years. The depth and quality of Indiana wrestling seems to just keep getting better and from a fan's standpoint that's awesome. To see Jesse Mendez, Zeke Seltzer, Brody Baumann, Gabe Sollars and others go out and perform on the big stage was great. I can't wait to see what they do in college. The 2022 Crown Point team is the best ever, for now. That's nothing for Mater Dei to be upset about. Indiana wrestling is growing and getting better every year. We should all be happy about that.
  6. He isn't "ours". He's on an island all by himself.
  7. Who said we would have done more without them? I just don't get your "mediocre" rating of a team that, without Critchfield and May, placed 4 wrestlers and took home 2 state titles. Is reading that hard?
  8. Mediocre? Is that what you call 2 state titles, a fifth place finisher and 7th place finisher? That's what we have without May and Critchfield. I'd be interested to see how you rate your own life. My guess is by these standards its far from mediocre.
  9. All of them! It's my favorite round of the tournament.
  10. So 15 different videos? That's going to take some time. Better get started.
  11. Yes, you also have a guy. Not sure if it's my guy, his guy or another guy, but you have a guy. In the end though, I'll take Baumann over the field and give coach 5-1 odds.
  12. Well I've gotta a guy that's gonna beat his guy before he even gets to Baumann. Of course, I'm not going to say who it is. Just wait though. You will see.
  13. I have no idea who Coach DC thinks is going to beat Baumann when a nationally ranked, Michigan recruit has a hard time keeping it under a major.
  14. Wonder where ole Caliboy is now or what new alias he's using. Sometimes I miss his ramblings
  15. If it's the Evansville semi state shouldn't it stay in Evansville? Anyway, Assembly Hall would be terrible. The Ford Center is a great setup.
  16. Sollars is always going to try to turn or pin his opponent, that's just who he is.
  17. No way we see either one of these two major the other.
  18. It appears Henry has dropped to 182.
  19. I guess the first thing to discern is what number we are talking about. Are we talking 2003 Mater Dei and what their score would have been or are we talking 2021 Mater Dei and 112 points? No way anybody reaches the 2003 team. I'm not sure what that number would have been, but it's out of reach. The 112, while unlikely, is possible. I think CP has the best shot at reaching it. If they have champs at 126, 138 and 152 (all weight classes where they are ranked #1) and they can come up with top 3 or top 4 finishes at 106, 132, 160 and 182 they would have to be close if not over that number. BB and MD have it a little tougher. While both have 2 wrestlers ranked first, they will need some very strong performances by other guys to reach that level. Time will tell.
  20. You are correct on all of the above. The Evansville Semi State will create some horrible draws for people at state, both from Evansville and people drawing into Evansville. Does a semi state champ want to draw into Rioux, Schaeffer, LaRocca or Feeler? Any of these guys could place 4th in Evansville. Even Saturday morning looking at one of these four can't make you feel good. The draw is always a huge determining factor for teams. Winning on Saturday morning for MD is a must for them to have a legitimate shot at BB or CP, but I think Schaeffer, Seng, May, and Ralph all have the ability to do so. I also think if Egli gets hot he has the ability to make it much further than most people think. Remember, he's a semi state champ from a year ago and would have likely placed pretty well had he not drawn into Cottey. I can't wait to see how it plays out, but I agree we could see a record broken this year and I think the state finals are going to be very exciting.
