We are trying to go a different direction. We are going to take our best girls and put them against another state.

Sounds great! I'd like to be in the loop if possible. alcorntr@mvschool.org

If anyone would like to help put together an all girls dual in the south please reach out!

  2. These sentiments go double from myself and the Mt. Vernon program. Coach Williams was gracious enough to add us to his Hall of Fame Classic and was always hospitable.

    Thanks coach!

  3. It is time for an AD meeting. If we are still committed to moving the conference tourney to Princeton then YOU NEED TO TELL YOUR ADs!!! My AD spoke and said ALL of the coaches agreed to move it and they all shot it down because not all of us spoke to our ADs.

  4. Mt. Vernon (Posey) is looking to sell 2 used Resilite mats in GREAT condition. We have two 40x40 mats that are in great shape and have been used only 2-3 per year recently. The are dark maroon with white lines and print. They have the 9 practice circles on the back and school artwork on the competition side. Nothing is wrong with them at all!! Our HS & JH teams used them before we got lightweight mats. They are now in the way of our newer mats. They have no splits, cracks, etc.

If interested please email me at alcorntr@mvschool.org for pricing or other info.

  5. I will say that overall my dealings with the IHSAA has been very positive.  I like to think they feel the same about the IHSWCA now.  I think overall the proposals were well recieved and after reviewing the Sectional realignment that was handed to us, there are some things that still need to be worked on the next time we realign.  I think several of the proposals have a shot to be passed and there was alot of good convo in the room about our ideas.  I even got a chuckle out of Mr Cox when he asked me if the "use a true third place bracket" was a new way to say wrestlebacks.  My response was "I never said wrestlebacks"  I like the direction the High School wrestling is going in the State of Indiana.  Is it perfect no but I feel it is going in the right direction and I appreciate the open door the IHSAA has given the coaches association.  I think 1, 2 and 4 have solid shots to be passed and I think the others had good discussions for future proposals.

When discussing the use of the same bracket we use at Sectionals at Semi-State I mentioned this would add four matches per weight but a option that can be examined if those four matches are a deal breaker could be looking at going back to only advancing 3 from regionals to semi-state thus removing those 4 extra matches the true third bracket would bring.

When will the next time be?

  6. We (Mt. Vernon) were assigned a new sectional 2 years ago on a whim. It was released the Thursday of the first week of the season. The reason given was ourselves and Tecumseh "in theory" drive past each other to attend our sectionals. Yes, you're right...it had been that way for 4 years...why the change then all of the sudden? Why, if that was a concern, was it not addressed in the original realignment?

So if the logic for moving us was travel & mileage...how do they explain moves like Floyd Central?

These changes are head-scratching. Why change us and Tecumseh 2 years ago AND make this change now? Why not make them all at once?

The coaches at the Castle regional took a "straw poll" and it was a lopsided vote. We voted to KEEP the regional at Castle. But a big-wig in EVSC scratching the right backs in Indy got the Regional moved to one of "his" gyms.

Why the lack of transparency? Why the secrecy?

Unfortunately this problem will not change until the "administration" changes. I have never understood why a non-wrestling person is in-charge of wrestling?

  7. We've been growing this the last 3 years. We had 5 states represented last year!
