  1. Reminder that we will be moving our location to Lawrence North High School for the next 4-6 weeks, while Cathedral's wrestling room is going under renovations. We want to thank Coach Seltzer for being flexible with his schedule and working it out with us. Tomorrow (Monday) both high school groups will workout together 6-7:30pm at LN. Then we will back to normal workout times and schedule, the only thing different will be the location. Enter through door 11, and there will be someone there to show you where the wrestling room is at.
  2. We are having high school workouts as scheduled today Monday March 25th. We are looking into trying to make up yesterday's practice at a later date.
  3. I'm excited for tonight's workout! Expect a lot of hammers in the room the week of iswa states and all star dual!!! Owner/head coach of CIA Brady Eppert will be in attendance tonight to help me run it. We will split the room into 2 groups and each show technique then rotate. Then we will battle and wrestle lots of live. Check out the new website ciawrestling.com! 2013 IHSAA State Tournament results of the high school kids that supplemented their training with us at CIA..... 31 qualifiers, 21 medalists, 2 runner ups, 5 state champions!
  4. Coach Tonte wanted me to post that all after school activities in Perry Township are cancelled tonight due to the severe winter weather storm warning. No one is allowed in the school after 4pm today. So, no RTC tonight due to weather. We are all bummed out!!!

  6. Coach Eppert might also be in attendance to help me run it. Check out the new website if you haven't already ciawrestling.com 2013 IHSAA State Tournament results of the high school kids that supplemented their training with us at CIA..... 31 qualifiers, 21 medalists, 2 runner ups, 5 state champions! Hope to see a great group tomorrow at 6pm!... Come get a good workout in before the iswa states and IN vs IL all star dual in the upcoming weeks
  7. I think it would be hard to see a 50" screen because that is how big my TV is in the living room. I think it would be awesome though if they finally utilize the jumbotron for the high school state tournament, especially the new 50' supertron they got now. I really wish they weren't calling first available mats, because it is not necessary and will cause unnecessary chaos. It does not speed the tournament up, and it will just cause more confusion to the spectator that does not understand what is going on. The tournament will end at 10pm on Saturday night like always. I also feel for the coaches, because they can not plan on where their kids are going to be. I agree with Coach T... why in the heck would you not count first round semi state and first round at state, especially when this is how you win the ihsaa team tournament series now. I understand why they don't score the first round at sectionals with the unpredictable first round forfeits.
  8. Joe Dad just explained it all to me. It should run smooth. Running team score on the big screen, along with on deck and in the hole for each mat on there. It will be projected in the warm up area as well. Whitehead will announce it all as well and it will be on the big screen. They are running their own wifi line so not everyone gets on it and causes it to crash (like at semi states). I think they learned from last week at semi state and are prepared to run it better
  9. They've said they would do this in the past along with putting the team scores up there.... And they never have followed through with their word.
  10. I've heard this too. And if it is true this is a travesty! A lot of people come to the high school state tournament to watch their school and they might not know a lot about wrestling. I have trouble keeping up with all the matches Friday night with mat numbers on the program let alone first available. It will be impossible for Mr. Whitehead to keep up with calling people to mats on deck and in the hole on top of announcing the winners like he always does. It will also be annoying and frustrating for the fans trying to listen to what mat wrestlers are being called to. It's very difficult to see bout numbers on the scoreboards on the floor, that's why it is so helpful to be able to look in the program at match number and mat number. The state tournament is not supposed to be ran through as fast as you can, it's supposed to be a show... And in my opinion it's the best show in all of high school athletics. BLF is huge, and it is not easy to maneuver around the floor, if you're warming up in the locker room area by mat 4 and you get called to mat 1 it will take awhile to get there. Also certain officials have to officiate certain matches at state (officials are assigned to matches), because coaches scratch refs. My question is how will they get the right official to the mat? My other question is when trackwrestling breaks down Friday night... Will all 17,000+ stand up and boo? (Track broke down at NC and EVille semi states).
  11. The score was 2-1 Tatom when he called injury time in the first period. Riley then scored takedown to go up 3-2 at the end of 1st period. Riley chose bottom and got away in the second period to make it 4-2, then got in on leg attack and almost finished but went out of bounds. Score was 4-2 McClurg when Tatom decided he couldn't continue and he ran out of injury time. It's a very unfortunate break for Tatom for it to end like that... it would have been a good one if it could have went the whole 6 minutes. I've had the opportunity to be around Tatom a lot this past year with my job coaching at CIA. John Tatom is a great kid and wish nothing but the best for him in the future. That's a match you wish would have happened at the state finals in the medal matches, because in my opinion they both deserve to be on the podium.
  12. The final score at sectionals was 3-1 this past weekend in Wilson's favor
  13. We are very shocked that Mitch didn't get selected. We figured McCutcheon would be on PA team and he is ranked 1 (Mitch lost a 3-2 match to him 2 years ago at super 32), Mattiace is ranked 3 at 195 and he is wrestling 220 in the dapper dan. Mitch is ranked 4th on Intermat, Berge is 6 on Intermat. The only thing to note that Berge has done outside of Minnesota is getting 2nd at Fargo once. Just some of what Mitch has done outside of the state of IN.... he has won Fargo 4 times, Fila Cadet National Champ, 5th at Fila Cadet Worlds, 2011 Fila Cadet AA, 3rd at 2011 Super 32, USAW Folk National Champ, AA at Fila Juniors (Mitch had to get a medical waiver to compete because he wasn't old enough) and he beat a lot of D1 college wrestlers. To us it doesn't make much sense, and Sliga isn't happy about it. Mitch has already signed with Northwestern and doesn't have anything to prove to anybody. It would have been nice to have been selected, but I am sure he will just use it as motivation and prove everyone wrong at the collegiate level! The bottom line in my opinion is Indiana guys just don't get as much credit as they should.
  14. Due to Super Bowl festivities we will have practice from 5:00-6:30pm for Blue Group this Sunday February 3rd. PRACTICE 5pm-6:30pm just for February 3rd, instead of the normal 6:45pm-8:15pm time.
  15. Cathedral returns Ben Harvey who is only a soph this year and they return Larson as well. And Perry Meridian is losing some really good seniors, but they return a ton of talent and have a solid group of 8th graders because they have a great program. Warren Central only has 2 seniors in the line up I believe this year, so they aren't going anywhere either.
  16. Brian Harvey placed 4 times. You have it listed correctly, then you put placed-3. There aren't a lot of people that place 4 times in the rigorous single class Indiana high school wrestling state tournament. As you can see, only 2 guys (Ayersman, Harvey) from that list of asskickers accomplished the feat of being on the podium all 4 years of high school.
  17. Ben Harvey 5-3 over Chandler Moore Ben Harvey 3-0 over AJ Belden Chandler Moore 4-2 over AJ Belden was the score I believe. Josh Farrell 6-2 over Jackson Bennett
  18. Tonight's workout at 6:45 is cancelled due to the weather. We will resume workouts on Sunday (12/30) like normal. We hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!
  19. It has always been the toughest sectional in the state in my opinion. Probably overall used to be much tougher than it is now every year... NP tough (Wingler days), BG tough, WC tough, FC had a couple studs, GC a couple studs, Roncalli was decent (building with Ellis), Shelbyville, Mt. Vernon, and Triton Central would always have one or two kids that were pretty tough on their team, etc. wrestler60160, Beech Grove has a 132 pounder on their roster last time I checked ;D
  20. In the Jim Nicholson Charger Invite results it says... Hack got 1st in the tournament, and Vaughn got 4th?
  21. Cottey winner by forfeit. Uk winner by fall over Vance Ellis. LeCount win 8-1 against McGinley. McClurg winner by fall over Kieffer.
  22. haha I just felt it needed to be addressed I guess. Nick, only tough guys wear purple... you were already pretty tough, but putting the purple on brought your toughness to a whole 'nother level! Good luck tonight.
  23. Carmel is in Hamilton County. HSE is in Hamilton County. On a side note, congrats to Coach Ed Pendoski. He won his first high school dual meet last night as the leader of Carmel Wrestling against Lawrence North by the score of 39-21.
