  1. I don't know about the other coaches, but I've heard from multiple people that Tanelli is not a fan of Indiana kids.
  2. Brandon Wright still wrestling today. Lost to Dziewa, then bounced back to beat 9 seed and pin Carton of Iowa. He'll face the 4 seed,Preston of Harvard, in about an hour.
  3. Anyone have results, team, individual or otherwise?
  4. I thought Pat was pretty good. Pretty high on the list of all-time falls. Ranked as high as 5th his senior year. NCAA qualifier, 5-0 at Virginia Duals, 1st at Northern Iowa Open, runner-up at St. Louis Open. Changing the weight to class from 118 to 125 probably didn't help him much. He could probably still make 125.
  5. Schwab seems to be doing pretty well at UNI. According to the Des Moines Register, his base salary is 77K.
  6. Most of those guys mentioned in the last few posts, coached before the era of dual tournaments. Take that in account and a rebuilding year or two and they may have not won as many as you think.
  7. You beat me to this Bob. I was going to add a win by fall over one of the Steiner brothers at Southeast Nationals in 87 or 88.
  8. Didn't see the match so I can't chime in on whether it was a bad call. However, the two ref's on the mat is kind of a ridiculous call. Rarely, if ever, have I seen the secondary ref come in to help overturn a call. McClurg definitely made good on his circumstances and set himself up for this week.
  9. Why is this thread still on here on when last week a thread was taken down almost immediately about a bad call at the Perry Regional? That one simply questioned a referee. This has questioned a wrestler, coaching staff, trainers, and a referee.
  10. Coaching a few wrestlers and running a total program are two totally different things. What are these guys doing these days for a living? It seems like a pretty tall order to expect two young guys to come in and run a program like that without having jobs in the building or at least one of the feeders. Even private schools have down years, not to mention they are young and only have a few hundred kids in the building. Greg's doing fine. Give him time.
  11. Wasn't it Indian Creek who had the tuxedo singlets a few years back? I think one of the coaches had on workout gear and wrestling shoes at one point in the tournament.
  12. A lot of wrestling technique is whatever you want to call it. What you call a bow and arrow, I've heard referred to as a Gable Turk. When I hear bow and arrow, I think head in the ribs attempting to lock up an inside cradle(poor technique IMO). What I saw in the video was simply poor technique. He had about 3 things going on top and not doing any of them well. I saw no resemblance of a cross face cradle other than the fact that he did have a cross face. If anything, maybe attempting some sort of butcher?(or whatever you want to call it). When he reached back for the toe, it did nothing to improve his chances of turning his opponent other than inflicting pain. When it comes to back and/or head injuries, the trainer is always going to error on the side of caution. They don't want to get sued and they aren't doctors. Unfortunate way to win or lose.
  13. Oh, OK. I guess it's normal then. I assumed full activities were things like walking and taking a dump.
