Well looks to me like they were trying to grab at least one BIG school when they were building that sectional. They kinda had to skip past Lebanon, reach out and scoop up Zionsville. I can see the challenge they were facing for sure. Brownsburg would actually make more sense to pull into that sectional than Carmel if they were hankering for another big school there in that sectional. Again, it doesn't necessarily bother me. I can just see the original reason the question was asked.

As for class wrestling, I believe I have come to the personal conclusion that more postseason success for more kids equals more kids leave wrestling with a good taste in their mouths and a positive view of their experience. Which they then pass on to their progeny and whatnot. As a tiny 1A wrestler, I will always take pride in my relatively meager accomplishments, my sectional championship wins meant more to me knowing I was up against the big dogs. I know I would have most likely been a placer in class wrestling, but it doesn't necessarily hurt me or make me feel less happy about my career. But I am also obsessed with the sport and frankly, kids are different nowadays. I know for sure we would have better retention if these kids saw more tangible success, however "empty" that success may seem.

Maybe that PSU team with DT, Ruth, quentin wright ETC, the Minn team with 10 AA? But this team here is dominant.  (FYI)- I have only followed closely last 10ish years.

Announcers tonight are saying this is possibly the best Penn State team ever and the best collegiate wrestling team assembled? Thoughts? If not who could compete with them ?

Not trying to be confrontational, but I believe pretty much every team/wrestler in the country who was up 6-0 with riding time secured would cut their opponent in an effort to get the major.

One could speculate that because Penn State has had the studs to win 8 of 9 titles is a big part of why they are often in position to go after those bonus points. But Cael Sanderson is a big part of why those studs all seem to maximize their potential as well.

Maybe I have simply become a Penn State/Cael Sanderson fan, but isn't Iowa & the Brands brothers aggressive/in-your-face style a little hard to take? Just as most Penn State wrestlers take on Sanderson's calm & confident demeanor, many of Iowa's wrestlers seem to adopt Brand's cocky/abrasive personality.

I'm not really trying to make this an Iowa bash thread. They have one stacked team this year, & I recognize what they have accomplished & the quality program they have built. But to me they come off coarse & even annoying at times.

Michigan does it for the state tournament.  I like that if you can't fill one weight but have 2 stud seniors stuck together you can get them both in the tournament.  There were 2 state finals matches between teammates this year I believe.  Some kid who may have not had a chance to compete came home a state-runner up.  Can't argue the kids deserved it if that's where they placed.

I would like to see a riding point.
If you ride a wrestler out for an entire period, 1pt will be added. You can only earn 1pt in a match. No need for riding time clock.
A wrestler should be rewarded for a ride out. Most of the time the are called for stalling at some point.

Unpopular opinion: decrease the number of weight classes to 12. It makes the sport more competitive across the board; prepares kids for the next level (10 weight classes) and makes it easier for schools of all sizes to field a FULL team.

Overall a great weekend of wrestling but the biggest rule change I would like to see happen is the college out of bounds rule tab state. I feel like there are too many judgment takedowns and would love to see that implemented there.

I don’t know how many times i said this last weekend.  So many nearfalls and takedowns that one ref calls and another calls out.  Make it same as college and there is very little variance, very little room for error, less room for more ref determining the outcome.  Also have more action, scoring and less  breaks

In speaking with my son Silas about the head but......he made a great point.  Mind you, Silas knows Carson well and they’ve travelled together competing on the same squad numerous times.  Silas’ perspective.....
”Dad.....Carson likes to establish head position.  Even if he’s got wrist control or in the tie, he looks to position his head.  If I’m trying to do the same thing.....and I head but a kid, the slow motion video will undoubtedly make it look intentional.  It’s like in baseball, if a pitcher accidentally hits a batter.  When they show it in slow motion, to the naked eye it could appear that he threw it right at the guy.  When actually.....he just missed his spot.”
I think Carson deserves a lot of credit for psychologically staying strong.  Getting thrown Laplace on Fri after last years issue with Mahan.....put his mental toughness to the test immediately. And the young man passed with flying colors.

I was kind of disappointed they showed the replay of the headbutt and even more that the interviewer referenced it in the interview.  Sure, the wrestler shouldn’t have head butted his opponent, whether it was intentional or unintentional.  But the referee made the call and penalized the kid.  So I didn’t think the booing was necessary.

Guys it’s fine. Again.. he really don’t care. He’s here at Indy nationals coaching the underclassmen and soaking up being a state champ.
With that said... please don’t do it to other kids. It may crush them. But as far as Carson goes he’s been through enough that one mistake or boos weren’t going to ruin a great season.

I’ll never understand boos to a kid. A KID! Sure boo the coaches or staff. But not a kid. It was an unintentional headbutt. There is no need to boo any kid in high school.

the boos speak to how ridiculous those ppl are putting down a hs kid and don't reflect on how most feel about Carson.. He didn't deserve that treatment even though he can handle it.

Again, I don’t know the ref or how he calls pins.  But to be blunt, if any ref calls a pin in high school without waiting for two full continuous seconds, then he is, quite frankly, breaking the rules he is being paid to enforce.  Consistently wrong is still wrong.

I don’t know the ref.  Do you mean he calls the pin as soon as the scapulae touch or he calls it when he sees the scapulae pinned for two seconds continuously?  Consistency is great if he is consistently correct but not so good if he is consistently wrong.

great win.   he was probably a little over hyped at the start of the match. I was embarrassed by the boos.  left a bad taste in my mouth for a champ that didn't deserve the boos.  #pb&j

When I asked “was the ref in position?”... I meant did he see the scapulas on the mat for two seconds?   Which is the rule.

Watching the video on Track....  :49 cradle is in position the pin was called in and the ref is up on his feet... by the time :48 hits the clock he is smacking the mat.  Assuming he had full view even if he saw it when he was up on his feet, it still couldn’t have been a two count.

And when they release, you can see vidyua’s left shoulder was on top of garcia’s chest.

This is the type of call that needs to be reviewed, imho

There was no tarnish on that win.  Maybe a little ugly with all of the breaks?  Maybe that's the same thing....
I wasn't a fan of all the boos.  Carson got a well earned State Championship.  Donahue showed heart and battled hard despite adversity.  Kudos to both.
