Fewest people I have seen at a State Finals. Makes sense when you move it  to the farthest south west point in the state. IHSAA is actively trying kill off wrestling.                                       Only good thing is the wrestling.

I’ve driven three hours each way to the state finals for 45 years. Quit being a baby.

Good point that getting a bye to Final X matters even more.

Retherford and probably a couple other key 70kg guys will suck down.

If they follow past protocol too, they'd hand a 70kg medal-winning Retherford a bye into the challenge tournament semi's at 65kg. Lee not medaling this year could put him not only in the challenge tourney pool--but needing an extra high-level win to reach the finals.

He’s medaling at Worlds this year.  Book it!

Sounds like Nagao has been asking the other destinations how much $ he can get. Iowa may have just outbid PSU for his services. Has to put a lot of pressure on top of the normal for the young man.

Penn State doesn’t “Bid”. The coaching staff doesn’t get involved in NIL. They talk to recruits and potential transfers about wrestling, that’s all.

Funny coincidence, his childhood home just got approval to be turned into a permanent AirB&B.  Sadly though there is no direct roads to Evansville from the “Small Town”.  So you still have just over a 2.5 hour drive to Ford Center from there.

    And watch that time change.

Bloomington to evansville is 90 minutes on I69

So watched the video on Flo.    The reversal is a tough judgement call as he secures Merkel at the buzzer.

1 The ref melted like butter when EMD coach went to the table, who was at table one second after buzzer.

    2.  After he cancelled his 2 point reversal,  the ref put up a point escape.  Which is obviously the correct call as referenced by HWTDAD pic where it shows loss of control.    See pic below where after the reversal was cancelled, the ref clearly gives the one point escape signal.   Looks like it just gets ignored.    Its not clear, but in the confusion he just gave up on that very relevant one point escape.

    3.  EMD coach was aggressive and screaming and yelling and intimidated the ref.   Owen Valley coaches were cool and calm showing sportsmanship under an emotional situation.  Obviously they didnt get rewarded for that.   EMD coach got awarded.

Coach Schaefer has never yelled and screamed or intimidated a ref in his life. You’re a liar and a moron. Making up stories to fit your narrative. You have zero credibility and should be ashamed.

I missed this match earlier while watching Seng vs Yeager.

Just watched it back on Flo, and I think I must have misunderstood the definition of a stalemate call.

Great match, but kinda like this year’s Super Bowl, in that the official decided the result in the most critical moment.

Thrine is an exciting Freshman; I will be excited to see him wrestle in the finals.

    Horrible stalemate call
