  1. Coming back, regaining composure, and taking something from a loss and then leaving it behind is a mark of any champion in any sport...The difficulty some elite kids have when going to the next level is they did not have opportunity to face adversity or loss and learn how to deal with it...Also, the great thing about our sport is get out of position just a bit and sometimes anything can happen....like getting caught (BTW, much easier to shake off a loss getting caught then a grueling 6 minute match where you simply got beat)

    Injuries

You may not see many takers on this thread....In this sport it is better to keep your injuries below the radar screen for obvious reasons and most kids would rather not have injuries publicized...

    Al Smith finals

Malloy being the defending state champ and winning this match does make him the better wrestler for now or until he is beaten. IMO Hartman and his coach had a great plan on wrestling Malloy and that plan was to minimize the damage that could be done by Malloys aggressive leg attack. It seemed to include making the mat smaller and the out of bounds closer to fight off any deep shots. Hartman's non takedown call could have gone either way. Great match by two great wrestlers. If Malloy stays at 138 maybe a rematch somewhere down the line.
  4. Why would the match not take place next week? Giving credit for "scrimmage" victories is hilarious. Those who have been around wrestling know that there is a major difference in wrestling under practice room "lights" and those that shine on tournament/match days. We all know of "practice room state champs" that are not quite the same once in a real match. Not to take anything away from the freshman who has tons of credentials, and looked great at Al Smith, but let's respect the current high school state champ not speak of practice room victories which are often loose, and arbitrary, in scoring at best. Let's wait until meeting takes place on real match day. Mckinley was undefeated at Disney.

    Live Video

I have followed high school wrestling in several states over the years and still do...Of the "wrestling" states, of which I consider Indiana to be one, the least amount of public video of high school matches that can be accessed seems to be Indiana...There are wrestling websites in most of these states that show a large amount of state and dual meet regular season video on the net...This promotes the sport as well as the kids who aspire to wrestle at next level who definitely need the exposure to college coaches who will never see them otherwise...Not to mention it would be nice for the kids and families of all wrestlers in Indiana...IndianaMat.com is such an awesome site I am a surprised they have not gone to taped video coverages of high school wrestling events...
