Something must have happened when they took out pope from blue river and replaced him with Mosley from northeastern. Not sure why pope is out. He only had 2 or 3 losses on the yea with about 25 win including one over Aquino

that aside, i dont think class wrestling is the way to go for high school...but i dont know what the answer is. something needs to change, but that diminishes the value of the championship

South Dearborns blake griffin placed 3rd at 145 in sectionals losing to franklin countys nolan feller in the semis also finishing behind connersvilles cody house. goes into regionals to place 3rd again behind house and feller but this time losing to house in the semis. goes into semi state as a 3 seed to barely make it to state placing 4th. this time even though feller did place 2nd, house was now out. goes into state as a 4 seed and knocks the 1 seed off first round. wins 2nd match against a 2 seed. loses against corsaro in the semi finals, comes back in consolations to beat faurote for 3rd place. feller placed 7th. so griffin went 3rd, 3rd, 4th, 3rd. it can happen to you!

170 is not only mathematically toughest by records, but its the only weight class where 3 of the 4 first round matches can go either way. all but 1 are semi state ranked. the only clear cut winner is gonzalez. the rest are all so evenly matched and i still say i would not be surprised to see it be all franklin county sectional guys at 170 moving on. with mccloskey out, that really opens up the door for someone at new castle semi state in that class as well.

due to shirkey being out, the only way this match happens is in the finals or the 3/4 match. i take robinson in that one if it does happen

i updated my bracket that is posted with my predictions as well with shirkey out. harper seems to be benefactor. i had harper going to semi state but instead of 4 seed, i now have him a 2 seed going in. does anyone know who placed 5th at 182 that will now be in as the 4 seed going into regionals? my guess is that its east central but i dont want to assume that batesville didnt win that match either.

shirkey will be missed by the fans. i love watching him wrestle. i have no doubt he will be a huge facotr next year coming back 100% healthy. good luck guy and you know my thoughts and prayers are with you for a successfull surgery.
