  1. I wasn’t exactly pleased. (But at least they seedings. )
  2. It was a bit frustrating that the regional I attended had no program with brackets but yet had no internet to be able access Trackwrestling or IndianaMat or IHSAA.org … or even to be able text results results to relatives who couldn’t attend. Grrrrr!
  3. If my count was correct, Cathedral advances 12 with 8 regional champions.
  4. If that’s the case, then why do they call it the NEW CASTLE semi-state?
  5. Well, the drive IS a big downside. What, 5.5 hours from Angola? But it is not the only one downside. A whole lot more people will need to spend an extra night or 2 in a hotel than they would if they could hold it in Indy. Alas, Indy is apparently not an option. Evansville, down in the pocket of Indiana is the most remote place in Indiana possible … aside from maybe Mt. Vernon. But I understand the options for the IHSAA was/is apparently limited. Too bad they could not hold it at maybe a university campus that was a bit nearer the state’s center of population. But it is what it is. I’m sure the Ford Center will be a good experience for those who are able to afford (money and time) to make the trip. I’m going to spend my money to invest in a big screen TV so my family can have a better streaming experience.
  6. Oops, in late 70’s I guess Muncie schools were at New Castle regional (before semi-states existed) so they DON’T count on this thread.
  7. From the 70’s: Bud Palmer IHSAA. Q, 1, 1, led Muncie North to team state title (and a team state runner-up) NCAA D1 2, 3 Junior Greco Roman National 1st Ralph “Jigger” Smith Q, 3, 2, led Muncie South to state team title
  8. That’s fair. I just didn’t want anybody new to Indiana wrestling to get the impression the IHSAA was playing favorites.
  9. Technically, I don’t think it is “the BOYS state series” that does not count any points. I think it is actually a coed event, isn’t it?
  10. When my sons were in high school, they didn’t wrestle Greco much just because there weren’t very many opportunities to do so. I don’t know if that has changed much since then. Both of them placed at Greco State, each finishing 6th … out of 6.
  11. I think blueandgold intended for the comparison to be with Marion County as a whole as opposed to just including the outer rim of the county. For example, he included a wrestler from Cardinal Ritter as well. And including Cathedral as part of “the city” is an artificial construct anyway. Geographically, Cathedral is clearly not part of “the city”.
  12. Point taken. I’m not trying to take anything away from Sara. She is indeed a great woman wrestler. No denying it.
  13. Who is the GOAT … Babe Ruth, Wayne Gretzky, Michael Jordan … or perhaps Ken Jennings?
  14. Of course, it’s apples to oranges. There’s a reason why the males and females don’t compete against each other at the higher levels. Obviously, if someone says Sara Hildebrandt is Indiana’s Best, then they obviously aren’t seriously talking about literally all Indiana wrestlers.
  15. Yeah, I think I could have been an NBA player, too … if I had been 7’ … instead of 5’6” … and if I could dribble and shoot.
  16. Yes, the Purple Hulk was definitely fun to watch.
  17. Okay, I was just wondering because at 12U at 70 they have Jeremy Carver listed.
  18. Just curious, how big was the attendance at Brownsburg?
  19. He just threw an idea out there as something to think about and maybe comment on. He obviously doesn’t have all the details fleshed out. Forgetting a team or two on a quickly drawn up proposal doesn’t seem like a big deal, but I think pointing out lapses would be welcome. I don’t think he meant to offend anyone. Feel free to add some possible meat on the bones if you care to. This blueandgold guy keeps throwing out topics to think about and possibly comment on during a time when the board is mostly dead except for RTC announcements and the like. At least he’s trying to keep the comment board active.
  20. How would the IHSAA handle it? Obviously, they wouldn’t handle it. I don’t think the IHSAA would ever even consider it. Our IHSAA sees their mission to be a lot different than some other states’ organizations.
