  1. Ah a fellow pottery fan, once you're gone glazing and firing that ball, you may want to "gaze" into it and modify your pick. I like Lee's chances, but McIntosh from Portage dominated the other young man you mentioned, so if he were to somehow beat Lee, which is doubtful, he'd also have to close a big gap and avenge a loss from the previous week.
  2. I don't think the guy was knocking MD, but complimenting your program. It's the "Build it and they will come" mentality, basically MD recruits itself with their success. Nothing wrong with that in my opinion.
  3. CP, Portage, and Merrillville do a great job of reloading every year, lots of depth. Lots of hard work goes into building a program of sustained success. LC's new coaches have them trending in the right direction, need more kids to be year round wrestlers rather than part timers.
  4. Not sure, but there's a feature on this site that is referred to as "results", you may find it to be interesting.
  5. If memory serves me correctly, Reitz is the last kid to win Middle School State and follow it up with a High School State Title the following year. Prior to him I think Jason Tsirtsis was last to do it.
  6. If you are referring to Stevenson from Indian Creek, he didn't win, I believe he was 3rd. I was shocked he didn't win it, because he looked awesome early on. If I remember correctly he lost 1-0 to someone in the semi's.
  7. I'm not trying to hijack the thread, but senior Micic verus senior Red would be 2 of the best technicians to ever wrestle. That would be like watching a 125 pound college match, lots of scrambles and great defense. I'm sure that's a match we'll get to enjoy in the next couple of years, assuming they both stay in the 125/133 range.
  8. The beauty in our sport is that there is an easy way to decide who gets the spot, which is a wrestle off. The winner gets the spot. Injuries happen, so despite the fact that one wrestler gets to wrestle the majority of the season, best man takes the spot. I'm not sure how anyone can argue with that.
  9. Thanks for the explanation, makes sense.
  10. We clearly have different definitions of humor, how does the Barbra Streisand picture play here?
  11. I happen to like them in the conference.
  12. Had this same discussion with a friend of mine and it really comes down to where your priorities lie. If your goal is to win a DAC title, then you wrestle the dual as it was scheduled, if you want to have your team get better by wrestling better competition, then you wrestle in Detroit. Portage strikes me as a team that strives for more than a conference title, so in that regard, their team was better off wrestling the stiff competition in Detroit. Congrats to CP on the DAC title, they beat the team in front of them.
  13. What Lee has done so far is great for the sport from a spectator's point of view. None of these kids owe us a thing, but you have to root for a kid who seeks out challenges. I live on the opposite side of the state and have a great deal of respect for Nick Lee, though I was admittedly rooting for Micic when they wrestled. Cosgrove and English are 2 others that chased defending state champions, which was fun to watch. Cosgrove was able to beat McGill a few times and English kept it close against Tsirtsis, from a fan's perspective, it was awesome, just like Lee and Red will be should it happen.
  14. Just because you disagree with me most of the time doesn't mean I lack intelligence, though you are entitled to your own opinion. I'd counter by saying if I were judging a book by its cover, many of the people who post on this site make it pretty clear that they are not mental giants, often times yourself included, with your juvenile name calling. I post to share opinions about the wonderful sport of wrestling, agree, disagree, I'm good either way. Have a good day.
  15. We could play the "What if" game all day long. Bottom line is that Lee has lost in the past, until someone beats Red during the IHSAA season, you have to go with him. If that match happens, everyone in the sport wins, I hope Lee is healthy enough to participate in the State series so this match happens and ends the debate where it should be settled, on the mat.
  16. Is that what we in the Region know as going on a date?
  17. I don't fully understand all of the factors that track uses to determine a wrestler's ranking or standing in the nation, but I believe they take opponent strength into account. Assuming (one day) everyone uses Trackwrestling to keep stats, coaches could use a freshman wrestlers standing in the nation as part of the seeding criteria. Again, don't quote me on the whole thing, but I'm pretty sure that's how it works and another option to help solve the seeding issue.
  18. Haha. Is it any wonder why kids grow up to be d-bags? Apples typically don't fall far from the tree. Just read your post, it's the type of response I'd expect from my 5th grade students. Glad the tournament went off without a hitch.
  19. Didn't complain, just backing up a fact GAT stated. Clearly the weather has been a factor since teams had to cancel practice. Go ahead and educate the hell up before coming at me. Reading and comprehending are difficult things to grasp for some.
  20. An extra hour doesn't solve dangerous conditions, apparently that's a difficult concept to grasp. Regardless of whether or not the teams are traveling today, the coaches are people too and their safety is paramount as well. Safe travels to everyone hitting the toll road from the Region. Has this bad weather hit the rest of the state?
  21. Responsible enough to leave early? How about taking the safety of others into account? Luckily the freezing rain seems to be letting up, but keeping people safe is a bit more important than a seeding meeting. God forbid people use common sense in the meeting if people are unable to attend. Great question GAT.
  22. Portage will run away with the DAC title. Valpo and CP are the 2nd and 3rd best teams IMO, not necessarily in the order I listed them, as I believe it will be close.
