But that’s the thing...they weren’t at Busco.  In three years you’ve sent 6 to state at EN.  I’d bet you send another 12-20 in the next 7 years.  Let’s say you only send another 12.  That’s 18 qualifiers in 10 years.  You had 4 at Busco in 10 years.  You cannot tell me going to a school almost 4x larger doesn’t make a difference.

I still think the info should be posted.  I think people realize this year has some unusual circumstances due to COVID, lineups not at full strength at times, etc.
 
I think the format changes that have been made for qualification are great considering the circumstances.

This is making the wait for Friday more tolerable.

A simple rule change that during the state tournament if you injury default you are not allowed to wrestle the rest of the day would suffice.

I know and understand that Hardcastle has dreams of being a State Qualifier and that is why I said nothing negative about him. What I was frustrated with was that Josh wasn't given the opportunity because of a "Caution" and a questionable one at that. I was not impressed with the Oak Hill coaching staff and how they handled the situation and am pretty sure they are aware of that. I am sorry for the subtle comments I will make them clear!

I appreciate all those comments made. I was at mat side. The referee signaled a false start, the Oak Hill wrestler was tended and their was discussion taking place between the head coach of Oak Hill and the referees along with one of those in charge refs. I am not being critical but what I would have liked to have seen would have been that the ref would have signaled the “false start” on him, given the appropriate “recovery time” and then let the match continue. That would eliminate some of the more negative effects.

The rule was interpreted correctly by the officials. The question of it being a true false start is not so clear in the video. I will try and post video at some point. Just like many things in life it is when the rule or situation is abused. I have coached for many years and never have been put in the situation that the Oak Hill coaching staff was put into on Saturday. I believe in all my heart I know what I would have done in the situation. However the problem and the "unfortunate situation" that this rule caused was that Josh Beeks will never get the opportunity that he has earned by working hard and puttting himself in the best possible situation you can by entering the Semi-State tournament has a Regional champ, will never happen. 30 secs. into the match a "Caution" ended the kids career and his dream of being a State Qualifier. 

There was a rule change a few years ago where if a kid was injured on a false start and couldn't continue that they would win via injury default. It was a good rule change for instances where a false start causes an injury to an opponent.

This is complete false assumption.  First these boys wrestled ALL OUT.  A lack of points does not meet lack of skill, exactly the opposite.  Some really great scrambles to keep the score low.  Additionally, I know for a fact that they did not know about the Walker boy forfeiting until after the match.  

This is a terrible take from someone who has a voice in our wrestling community. That was an extremely hard fought match. By saying something like this you are painting a bad picture of the sport of wrestling in Indiana. You should be embarrassed

It might add some travel time.  I'm not sure how much time, it would take to fix a broken axle.  My moto is safety first.  As Littlevito said allow for extra driving time.

Maybe to the average traveler 31 is an option.  However, the interchange from US30 can be very confusing.  Avoid the construction and confusion, go via Merrillville.

US 40 and/or I70 are good options.  I would suggest going west on US 30 to Merrillville.  Hang a left on I65 , straight to Bankers Life.  This is the best route to avoid all those potholes.

This error had nothing to do with the IHSAA ... they have been busting it on your behalf and are working hard to make this a great experience for everyone.   If you have to throw someone under the bus throw me.  Mark Durham.  The buck for this TW mistake has to land somewhere.   They were built this morning while I was in transit from some Evansville events back to Indy ... I should have pulled over at the Exit 87 Country Mark gas station on I69 south and checked them before they went public.   I didn't.   As it turns out they were set-up correctly, but there is a little check-box at the bottom of the build screen that says, more or less, "use saved lines instead of default lines" ... well, it needs to be checked and wasn't.   And you know the rest of the story.   Again, I am sorry.

Feels ridiculous to me.  Garrett has overshot their expectations the last few years.  Unseeded and placing 7th, with two injured starters two yeas ago. This season we were seeded 4th and placed 2nd losing 37-33 to Wawassee.  So, when in vote in consideration you don't vote the returning runner up who has exceeded expectations the last two, three seasons actually...seems pretty illogical.  The "we want new blood in the tournament" would be a pretty crappy argument.
