  8. I am still in need of wrestlers to fill these spots. Please contact me if interested.
  9. I am in need of some weight classes filled for a dual team traveling to Battle Creek, MI on Feb 9 & 10 for the NUWAY National Duals. This is a 10 and under team (age as of 12-31-2012). All weight classes get a 2lb allowance. Weights needed are 100, 105, and 110. Spots will be filled on a first come first served basis. Please contact me ASAP at Lauren@contenderswrestling.com if you would like to fill one of these spots. Lauren Rioux
  10. Oh, so here we go again..."signal34" running their chops all while hiding behind a made up screen name. Don't want anyone to know who you are huh? You are obviously someone who has never stepped foot inside Contenders Wrestling Academy (or if you did couldn't hack it). So let me educate you a little bit....CWA was started in 2006 with a group of 4 year olds, who practiced in a garage and kicked some ass at tournaments. While along the way more and more kids joined up they have always been young wrestlers, some are now in middle school, but the largest numbers are still elementary age and those few 4 year olds that started it all...yeah they are 5th graders now. So no we don't have a big showing at high school state, but I'd take notice if I were you that in about 4 years you will see Contenders Wrestling Academy all over that place. Now as far as your harsh words about our coach, I think it is not only uncalled for but just shows the kind of class you have. Ryan is ABSOLUTLEY loved by every single one of those boys. There is not one kid in that room that wouldn't do anything he asked of them out of complete love and respect. He is by far the best youth coach in the state, I think the 7 team state championships and 56, yes I said 56, individual state champions that he has produced proves that without question. LAUREN RIOUX #nobodylikesawinner
  11. I am still in need of all the weights listed above for next weekends Nuway Duals in Battle Creek, MI. Please contact me ASAP at Lrrioux@yahoo.com if interested.
  12. I am looking for the following weight classes to fill teams for the Nuway National Duals on Feb 11 &12 in Battle Creek, MI. Spots will be filled on a first come basis. Age is as of 12/31/2011 and there is a 2lb allowance for all weights: 8u- hwt(80+) 10u- 115 12u-120 & HWT (145+) If interested please email me at Lrrioux@yahoo.com
  13. OK we get the point...you were a good wrestler. Thats what you wanted us all to know right?? To answer your question tho, no I was not a D1 wrestler, nor have I trained with Olympians. On the other hand I was also not a .600 wrestler in high school either.......I am a mom! I the mom of 4 wonderful little boys who love the sport of wrestling. And before you go there, no my husband never wrestled either. My oldest son tried it all before he got into wretsling, soccer, baseball, football, even ice hockey, he found wrestling and loves it with all his heart. He works extremely hard and is getting better all the time. We all fully understand that when the time comes a college recuiter is not going to look back and say "hey this kid was a state champion when he was 10, or a national runner-up" However as with all sports to be competetive now a days kids have to start young and work hard. We go to National events becasue that is what my son chooses to do, he enjoys traveling with his friends and wrestling the best kids around. It may be "nothingness" to you, but these kids will look back someday and remember all the fun they had as a kid wrestling all over the country whether they are a D1 wrestler training with Olympians or not. Right now, to them ,it is their Olympics!
  14. I can assure you "Signal34" that all the members of the Avon team live in the Avon school district with the excpetion of maybe 2 or 3 kids combined from both teams. These kids live in the neighboring towns. All fairness was given to anyone who wanted to wrestle at this event and wrestle offs were held for all spots where there was more than one kid. My 3 boys all actually wrestled off twice each for their spots and one of them didn't make either team. Matt's own son even had to wrestle off for his spot. As stated above you may not see everyone at local events due to alot of wrestling at a national level. Dual season is not just a local thing, my oldest son has already been to 3 national dual events this year and has atleast on more to go. Not to mention individual national tourneys that have been recently. ie: BorderWars, Tulsa Kickoff, Dixie...to name a few. In order for our children to better themselves they need to compete at this level. Avon is not the only team who had kids missing at one or more local dual meets, I know for a fact that several kids from other teams missed some of these. They were with us out of state, I won't name names but they know who they are. As for practicing with the team, I'm not sure where you are getting your information from, but as far as I know everyone on the team has been to practice. We may not make to every single on but we get there once or twice a week for sure.
  15. Congrats to all Indiana place winners at the Dixie National Championships Dec 29th. All Indiana wrestlers made a great showing and wrestled great. Champions- Brock Bobzien Nathan Walton Mason Parris Runner-Ups- Hayden Watson Raymond Rioux Alex Mosconi 3rd- Breyden Bailey 4th- Cayden Rooks 5th- Graham Rooks I'm sure there were more placers, these are just the ones I know off the top of my head. I apologize if I missed someone. Congrats again to all who wrestled.
  16. Are all of the videos posted? I still cannot find my sons, he was on mat 8 bout 111. Intermediate 55
  17. I believe you may have missed Garrett Williamson he won at Bantam Folkstyle 65, Freestyle 70, and Greco 75.
  18. I don't think you have to register on Trackwrestling for freestyle state. You are automatically registered when you quailfy.
  19. Marci is so right on!! Ryan you are the absolute best! On top of everything else I don't know any other coach that would go out of their way to come pick my kids up so they didn't miss practice. You are truly great. My boys as well as all the boys look up to you and aspire to be just like you. Can't wait for the next 18 years!! (You're stuck with us for a while..lol) Lauren Rioux
