grappleapple got a reaction from throw45 in Seeding Meeting Change???
Yes, he would - because they ducked Joe's guy. Had he not forfeited and then wrestled later in the day, who knows.

grappleapple reacted to Y2CJ41 in Seeding Meeting Change???
Here is a scenario that is 100% true and going to happen in a couple weeks.
My kid is 15-6 right now(10-6 with forfeits taken out), other team's kid is 14-6(13-6 with forfeits taken out). We are 1-1 with common opponents. When we wrestled this team they forfeited to our guy so our win doesn't count. The kid wrestled later in the day. So now my kid is being punished for having too many forfeits and on top of that, the other team not wrestling against us and preventing us from a head to head.
How many times will this happen vs. the kid with 10 forfeits snagging a seed?
We had a top 10 strength of schedule last year and we averaged 3.4 forfeits per wrestler and had one with 8 forfeits.

grappleapple got a reaction from FCFIGHTER170 in Hoosier Heritage Conference 1/13/18
Hopefully it pans out and we'll get to see No. 1 vs. No. 2, and a rematch of last year's state championship match between Curtis and Black. Should be worth the price of admission.

grappleapple reacted to Hornet Coach in Too many takedowns(?)
I would compare this to kicking an onside kick, throwing a touchdown pass, kicking an onside kick and throwing a touchdown pass, kicking an onside kick and throwing a touchdown pass etc. etc. (when you're already blowing a team out) to get your QB a TD passing record against inferior opponents. There is nothing illegal about doing this but are these the lessons you want to teach the young men and women you're coaching? If you're coaching strictly for wins and records, you're missing the boat as a coach. Your responsibility is to not only make better wrestlers, but more importantly, better people using wrestling as the vehicle to teach such important life lessons. When these lessons are taught, wins and losses take care of themselves and true growth happens. Just one man's humble opinion.

grappleapple got a reaction from Wrestling Scholar in Too many takedowns(?)
I guess I just don't see the point in a takedown record at all. If you're the superior wrestler, go for the most team points and get the fall. If you can't pin them, tech fall them as quickly as possible. Cutting from the back (illegal), purposely giving up points, etc. is just poor sportsmanship and benefits nobody.

grappleapple reacted to LionsFan in Notable win 1-6
The two teams were in different pools and did not wrestle in the cross over so both coaches agreed to wrestle the match at the end of the day. It’s great to see both coaches and wrestlers want this match to happen. So many times you see people shuffle around to avoid the big match up. Hats off to Zionsville and New Albany!

I've been to hundreds of wrestling matches - but this is the first one I've ever seen charge $10 for single session admission for a Friday night with three rounds.

grappleapple reacted to Johnathan Spencer in New Uniform issues
OK I hate the new uniforms. We were called for numerous technical violations for "grabbing the uniform" where the shirt sleeve is and where the bottom of the shorts are. These uniforms were supposed to be "tight fitting" but they are very loose fabric and kids are getting their fingers and hands stuck in them. I hope they rescind this rule quickly or stop calling the violations due to loose fitting uniforms. Any one else having this issue?

grappleapple got a reaction from FCFIGHTER170 in ** NOTABLE WINS / LOSSES **
I wonder if it is a situation like my son's first meet. He didn't quite get down to 170 (weighed 171), and then bumped up to 195 to wrestle. I'm betting Tucker will be 70 or less at some point this season - but I'm don't know for sure.
