I get tired of these "lack of class" posts. The kid was probably the most excited he's ever been in his life. He has had to read for months how he was going to lose. The crowd chanted his opponents name. He was put flat on his back yet he bounced back. He overcame a hostile environment, an opponent that is one of the best in the nation and became a four time champ with an undefeated career in the process. Part of his success has always been his swag. It's not classless - it's just different from the norm. I for one love it that he is a free spirit that doesn't feel like he has to say all the right answers. He won, he silenced the doubters and he went out his way.

Parris is an absolute machine. I know this means nothing this week, but Parris pinned Guhl in 21 seconds last week.

It was an extremely well written article bringing light to a very gifted wrestler. Insulting the writer because he didn't mention another guy in his story, or because he doesn't write a lot about wrestling, isn't needed. Just take the story for what it is - a good feature on a great Indiana wrestler. We all know that the potential Lee matchup could by electric - but it didn't make it into the article. Big deal.

Because I work full time, have a bunch of kids in a bunch of sports, have a wife that expects me to clean up after myself, occasionally I go outside and...mainly..because I don't have the time to research every wrestler and their head-to-head record. I do know that in second grade Worm was a stud - so I'm basing my pick on that. And I'm sticking to it.

Ladies please... We get to watch it go down in like 24 hrs. Also if your wife won't let you out of the house then you can watch it on track. Should be a great day of wrestling for all semi-states!

Personally, I think friendofrunningwriter should be nominated for post of the year, if such a thing existed.  He was blunt and honest - warts and all.  Here's the bottom line: Until you can guarantee more than a few teams have a chance to win, and/or give a crap about the team title NOTHING is going to change.

If you have to force teams to not send their JV or stick around to see who wins the title, why bother?

In a somewhat subconscious way, I think class wrestling is being used as a solution to apathy or a cure for all of wrestling's "ills." More opportunities for kids is never a bad thing, but wrestling has and always be a tough sell; it's an acquired taste and it's not for everybody.

The seating was beyond terrible. Sectionals are several hours long, and when you don't even have enough room to scoot a few inches in the bleachers, it is terrible. I have elderly parents that paid to watch, but couldn't get up the steps to the balcony so had to leave, $12 poorer. Both stairwells were full of people. All of the walking lanes were full of people. Seating simply was not nearly adequate.
I do think the tournament was ran well - but that facility is far too small.

There are four pages on the topic. Not bad considering there probably isn't one weight class that every school has a participant in. Don't get me wrong - I'm interested in the results. But this isn't probably of great interest to most of the state. And I'm sure they put the brackets in as soon as they become available - but they aren't going to go track down every conference in Indiana.
That being said - based solely on the information in Richmond's paper about the top four seeds...here's my guess (and I stress, guess):

    106 - Markley. 113 - Harris. 120 - Hale. 126 - E. Phillips. 132 -Craft. 138 - Phillips. 145 - Coffman. 152 - Michaels. 160 - Oswald. 170 - Dearth. 182 - Calderon. 195 - Haager. 220 - Campbell. Hvy - Minges. (all pretty much top seeds because I know little about most of these guys)

The NCC is worse now. Lafayette is back in the conference. So you go as far west as Lafayette, as far north as Logansport and as far east as Richmond.

We wrestle at the Spartan, wrestle several 3A schools. We plan to strengthen our schedule but right now we have 8-9 freshman in our line up so you also need to balance it out so they don't get too discouraged. Build them up a little too. We work hard in the off season, attend RTC's, camps, and wrestle even thru the summer. Not all of our kids are that committed but the opportunities are there if you take advantage of them.
