Norwell had two starters out, I believe...one for sure, but that being said, it doesn't mean results change, and yeah, Oak HIll deserved in. Oak Hill is always solid and will continue to be solid with the continuity in the program. You'll be back! ... 2a was tough this year top to bottom, which I'm sure didn't make things easy on the rankers/seeders/vote in. IMO it's really hard to seed 2a because of stereotypes, such as "They don't wrestle anybody." Teams can only control their schedule to a certain extent, with conference by laws. How do you compare a 20-0 team who has wrestled teams to be perceived as below average, compared to maybe a 15-4 team, who has wrestled a really tough schedule? It's hard to do. We've been under seeded, and over seeded. It happens. It's a tough job, but I think you all do a great job and I'm happy we have this awesome tournament!5 points

Seeing all those names from the 80s and 90s are awesome. Muncie South had some great wrestlers, and they are still some great guys. A couple years ago a group of them came up to Decatur to play in our Bellmont golf outing. It was a blast seeing those guys.3 points -

Colin Kelly is back for MC. Hopefully we see the rematch with Cody as that was the best match of the meet last year. Last weekend MC's 113 pounder ,Seth Mendoza , chased down the #1 Illinois ranked 126 pounder and beat him 13-5. Will he do it again to face Indiana's #1 ranked Logan Frazier? Sounds like Sergio Lemley may be back in the line up tonight. Does MC spare him the weight cut and let him wrestle up at 152? Lemley vs Rinehart, Sergio would be giving up a lot of size but we know how fearless he is. There is potential for some colossal matchups tonight. I hope the coaches get creative and let the fur fly.3 points -
So on paper looks like a winnable dual for Indiana. Not knowing much about Rutgers, anyway, I’m optimistic here.2 points

Thank you, Coach, for posting the pics. Also congratulations on your season, even though there is a lot of work yet to do. I personally did not take any pics. I recorded the events on my friend's tablet for him so that he and his family could focus on their sons big night under the lights. Galagore, there did not seem to be any safety concerns with the wrestling on the stage. I don't know the exact dimensions of the New Prairie stage, but there seemed to be plenty of room. On a side note, I predict NP to have 4 at state, 3 placers, 1 finalist.2 points -

DAC Predictions: 106: Jones over Haney 113: Jendreas over Tolbert 120: Jackson over Sessa 126: Frazier over Rivera 132: DeMarco over Van Tichelt 138: Cruz over Clement 145: Torres over Bahl 152: Rinehart over Pellot 160: Goin over Shaffer 170: Goodwin over Hood 182: Cruz over Risner 195: White over Veal 220: Clark over McClelland 285: Clark over Meschede Not too many upset picks here, with so many overwhelming favorites, with Jendreas, Jackson, Frazier, Rinehart, Goin, Goodwin, Cruz, White, and the Clarks locks in my book. Mason Jones could certainly be in there too, but Haney had a 6-1 match earlier in the year with Jones, and I feel like any of the other wrestlers in this list won't be making it to six minutes with less than eight points. Not a knock to Jones, of course, but I think Haney could test him. Woods from Portage is also solid and could very well be the finalist over Haney, and probably will be seeded higher, although I think Haney makes the upset. 132 will be the weight class of the tournament, with a rematch of DeMarco and Maldonado potentially happening, although Griffin Van Tichelt has had a great couple of weeks, getting wins like Josh Johnson and Keaton Morton in his few weeks as a starter for Crown Point. Is it too ambitious to think that Van Tichelt will beat Maldonado? Maybe, but I'm gonna pick the upset anyways. 145 could be interesting, but two of the significant wrestlers in the field are iffy on whether or not they will be there. Anthony Bahl may not be in good enough health to compete (hope you get better, man) and Carlos Perez has not competed for quite a bit of time now. This is also a potential weight class of the tournament if everybody shows, but if not, Crown Point's Christian Washington and Lake Central's Neo Cameron are wrestlers with solid results that will make for a fun semis match (went into overtime at Al Smith).1 point -
Nice gif, but I don't quite follow? I was mocking myself and agreeing with him that we never get all the teams 100% right and that I wish we could do an all in event. I was trying to explain the biggest couple hangups because I think there are solutions out there that could get us those next steps forward. Sorry if it was a confusing message. I was trying to agree. Maybe you just like popcorn?1 point

Girls Regional/State Question
djackson0944 reacted to Matt Time for a topic
While still in the growth phase, I'd argue in favor of keeping up to two per weight class . . . at least until we get to a three stage sectional/regional/state construct. Right now this is about building numbers and with the vast majority of competitors in the 113-138 range, it seems premature to limit. My five cents (two cents, adjusted for inflation).1 point -
Team State draw
piscis1956 reacted to maligned for a topic
Ha...very funny. Here's something wrong: Times the qualification process has gotten every deserving team correct: 0% By contrast: Times an all-in event gives everyone a shot: 100% of the time. I'm fully with you for the idea of having a watchlist of teams that can be filtered toward regionalized super duals if they don't get into Team State. I think if zero teams are pre-chosen, it really could end up being more like 25+ teams in some classes some years that want to be considered. That means there would need to be regionalized super dual hosts pre-committed and organized to host something like 50 teams that don't get into Team State. Isn't the challenge that you need hosts and backup hosts (for the "consolation" super duals) set up in case a given host site's team gets into Team State? And then how do you contract officials and plan an invitational site if it's a "maybe" site until mid-December? I think these have been the nature of the hangups when we all start to talk through these ideas every year. How could we get past those issues?1 point -

It has not been posted as yet but we have another great wrestler and coach, Paul Gunsett. I will leave the accolades to my Decatur friends but let me say as an outside admirer, I watched Paul wrestle in the kids program, coached against him in High School and coached against him when he led his alma maters, Bellmont. He has always been a class act.1 point -

Had to resort to the Cathedral oracle on Paul in his honor: He beat Billy Terry 7-3 in 1987 semifinals. Billy was arguably Cathedral's best wrestler to never win the state. His brother Jason won twice and placed 4X. He also beat Coach Sean McGinley 8-5 in 1988 finals at Market Square. Winner of that match would win the IHSAA Team State title.1 point -

HHC might have 1 of the most loaded Conference brackets I can recall ever seeing @145... Seeds/rank as follows with 4 top 15 ranked studs ranging from 6th-15th!! 1. #8 Jack Todd 22-0 of Pendleton who's looked damn good this year coming off a awesome off season and wins over state ranked foes Thrine, Fettig, And Franklin. 2.#6(138) 24-2 Brevan Thrine Nc with his only legit loss coming to Todd 7-6.. They are 2-1 lifetime and had a doozy earlier this season.. Brevs other "loss" was a Mat return vs Rushville that was called as a slam, which I won't even get started on. 3. #14 Kolton Rhonemus 24-3 Delta is comes from a bloodline Of Champions with his father being a state qualifier and Kolton being a hammer himself with many notable wins including 7-1 win over Kiner , we should and could see a Match with Him vs my guy Thrine in the semis! 4. #15 Kiner 24-5 of Mt Vernon is battle tested with only losses to State ranked gamers including a win over the 4th Place medalist Dillon Graham of Cathedral. Kiner vs Todd could be fireworks. To whomever ever wins this this loaded weight, they'll have to Wrestle their tails off!1 point -
