  1. As most of us on here know Indiana wrestling is on the rise... but this is really cool. Maybe our best year as a state ever?!?!? Naia--- Indiana tech finished 4th in the country with 2 national champs (coached by Indiana natives) D3 --- Wabash is currently tied for 1st!! With guys in the finals D2 --- Uindy currently in 6th with 2 in the finals. Still in the hunt for a team trophy. (Also coached by indiana natives) Really neat to see our In-State teams have such success.

  3. Super Danny Williams and the Big Flash Jake O'Brien. Danny was recuperating from a broken ankle (amazing) and had the flu on the day of Semi-State. Jake was recovering from Mono, I think. Can you imagine winning your Semi-State and you draw one of those guys?

  4. Tonight! Last week we had Coaches Frankie Porras, Jason Cook, and Sean McMurray in the room. A combined 6 state championships between them. 9 Finals appearances. We are looking forward to having them all back in the room tonight! Hope we see you there!

  6. Enter through main doors. Must have current USA card. We are lining up some great clinicians. A great opportunity to get better and make fun of arguably the ugliest coaching staff in the state.

  9. How many guys have taken 4th at SS then go on to wrestle for the championship the following weekend? I know it’s rare but I’m curious how rare it is. edit- how about if we remove the med forfeit criteria and only count the guys who actually wrestled and lost both matches in semi state, then came back to win or take second in state the following week.

  16. And I certainly don't fault the kids for leaving the state. In most cases it is a no brainer. If PSU, tOSU, Iowa or Michigan come calling then IU and Purdue are likely not going to get those kids. So that leaves developing the kids that they get that are a tier or two lower. And specifically at IU I don't think that has happened yet.

  17. Agreed. The state is putting out studs. No question. The problem is that those studs aren't staying home and our D1 schools are paying a price in that they aren't seeing success in terms of AA and NC's.

  20. All the participants above have confirmed that they will be there. We are only missing a #2 at 106. Illinois is missing #2 at 120 and 285, but their guys have agreed to wrestle twice and our 106 has done the same. Should be a fun day. $5 admission at the door for spectators. Pictures at noon, introductions and wrestling at 1. All three mats going at the same time, holding weight classes until each is finished. We may have to reorder if 106, 120 and 285 have to wrestle twice.

  26. Separation Criteria is just that. It's designed to "separate" top 4 placers so they don't see each other in the first round. That could look different from bracket to bracket depending how many top 4 placers there are. They have someone on Friday night that goes through every bracket to verify the top four placement in the style being wrestled. There are a lot of people that claim separation criteria who don't have it. Once the brackets are made the program in track separates the wrestlers in the bracket. The ISWA is working with track to have a weighted ranking system for ISWA state events that take several types of tournaments in consideration with one of them being IHSAA State. Now this will be done with a program so it probably won't be perfect either. As MattM stated above, "Probably should be happy they have any sort of separation criteria and regular brackets. Back in the day it was straight luck of the draw and in verticals brackets where if you lost round 1 you were paired with a winner from round 1 in order to help decrease the field quicker." The ISWA is wanting pairing officials so please sign up and make it better. Set up mats, run wifi, take incessant phone calls with people bitching, get yelled at all day by people who have no clue how to run a tournament, get less sleep than anyone in the building, no breaks, and no pay all for the love of the wrestling community. Come get ya some! lol

    Hmmm

Get one thing straight!! XPWC handle has nothing to do with our family! So get your facts straight! In addition, neither myself or any of my family members have made a single comment in regards to Penn on this forum, until now! Tony Carroll P.S. why don’t you try to have a little class!
