  3. It is with a heavy heart that I relay the information that Dick Neal passed away this morning. He was a great historian of this sport and where I have received much of my information and data for our history section. Without his work on the "Echoes of the Elder" book we would not have the state's wrestling history at our fingertips. Dick served on the ISWA board and in almost every role possible within the wrestling community. My favorite memory was seeing him at the Dream Team Classic and the smile on his face the whole night. I am beyond grateful to have met him as he is one of the people in this sport that does not get the credit they should for their impact on the state. I will post arrangement information when it is ready.

  4. The Fort Wrestling Facility should be coming online at the beginning of June barring no construction issues. We are located in Fort Wayne 3 minutes off of I69. We will be hosting live wrestling nights, local academies, meet the coach sessions, open facilities, camps, and clinics. For June and July we have Tom Ryan, Logan Stieber, and Purler camps coming your way and sign ups are open. Check us out at https://thefortwrestling.com. You can also see the progress of the build out at https://www.facebook.com/wrestlefortway and Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/wrestlefortway/ The whole goal is to bring more training opportunities to the area. Any support is appreciated.

  5. Veazy is all offense all the time and that's refreshing to see from a young big man that Wrestles with the speed and Aresenal of a 138 pounder and a gas tank to put a pace on guys, that breaks them and in essence he weaponizes his cardio and pace to break ppl.. I could see him winning multiple state titles and being a world class talent if he keeps on the trajectory he's trending at...I could very well see him having Allred-esque career In HS and who knows maybe even Parris like..I don't want to put too much pressure on a kid or get ahead of myself, but I genuinely see elite talent in many kids in Indiana and he's one of the young gunz I think will be a great Big man. Glad y'all have stud of that caliber coming up and look forward to watching his journey and from what you're saying his father must be a very big influence on his success and overall prowess and development of becoming a great human being.. Scary part is this young man hasn't even begun scratching the surface on his full potential and could be in line to Continue IN success at the highest level beyond HS in college and beyond.

    IHSAA Proposals

My comments are in red 9) WRESTLING COACHES PROPOSALS JD Minch, Gary Myers of Hamilton Heights, and Danny Struck of Jeffersonville, all representing the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association (IHSWCA), spoke to the rules proposals listed below for consideration. Proposal 1: Add Girls Wrestling as an IHSAA sanctioned sport. Common sense Proposal 2: Reduce the wait time between competition from 45 minutes to 30 minutes. (the coaches association withdrew this proposal as this will be part of the NFHS rules change process). No need to have 45 minute wait, but needs to be done at NFHS level Proposal 3: Expansion of state tournament from 16 competitors per class to 20 competitors per class. They would need to have the pseudo wrestle-backs like they did about 8 years ago. Also this could make for some interesting matches at state if the #1 comes in cold and the 4/5 winner gets a match underneath them. Proposal 4: Allow tenths of a pound to be removed from a qualified weigh in. Good, we should not demand kids 15-18 years old have to manage their weight to the tenth of a pound. No decision was made on these proposals but will be considered and voted upon at the June 25, 2021 meeting.

  8. Something to consider is that these guys have a history of saying stuff like this on social media during the off season that later turns out to be them having fun with us. Im not saying that is the case here, but it causes me to be less certain about the IG post.

  14. Added semi-state distances, 133 or 43% of the state is closer to New Castle than any other semi-state. Roughly 77 schools should be attending each semi-state if everything was perfectly equal. 2021 Teams- Reg Distance.xlsx

  17. I put together a nice little spreadsheet for people to tinker with. I have calculated the distance from each school to the nearest eight regionals. I narrowed those down to the top 4 and then put them into this sheet. It is a little complicated, but is easy to play with as far as putting teams in different sectionals and regionals. I did regionals because I highly doubt those will change by much. The bad thing is the Terre Haute area lacks a close regional so about 6 teams have at least an hour drive no matter which way you send them. The downloaded copy is my attempt that fails miserably because our state is not evenly distributed. Feel free to put your favorite alignment up and see how much travel each school has. This is not an easy project and something I am glad I am not involved in. Updated 5/12 9:30am 2021 Teams- Reg Distance.xlsx

  18. FWSS will have a few more placers in the coming years and I’m confident some of the changes that are happening will produce better wrestling as a whole from our SS.
