I think it's funny that it keeps being said that Ft. Wayne needs to be strengthened or balanced. People don't care about making Ft. Wayne stronger. Indy schools are hammering each other in January and February and they want to avoid each other until state. There is a rumor that there is a movement in Indy, not sure if it's coaches or AD's or both, for this "restructuring" because some of their better kids are losing early. Restructure because it fits geography, time, etc. You don't restructure because you don't like the outcome you're getting. Us small schools have been told to work harder if we want to be like the big dogs. So, if the rumor is true, then I would say you just need to work harder.

Frankfort is now open as Rich Sallee retires from serving as the head coach. My best to Rich as he begins a new chapter in his life after having a great career in wrestling/coaching !

As mentioned last night we wanted to do the best wrestler of the 2000's with the top 64 wrestlers. Well after looking at the data, we have MANY very good wrestlers since 2000. We have had 64 wrestlers win at least two state titles along with124 wrestlers that are at least a 2x finalist. So thus we are going to make a bracket of 124 wrestlers. The top 44 all advance to the first round. Those are the wrestlers that have been to the finals at least three times. The rest are a mixture based on points that coincides with their state placements. We will have 20 vote-in matches with four wrestlers battling it out and the winner advancing to the main bracket. Unfortunately we had to leave off many very good wrestlers, but that just tells you how many great wrestlers we have had since 2000. Guys like John Sims, Christian Hunt, Ben Sprunger, Marcus Shrewsbury, Adam Chalfant, Noah Warren, etc did not make the cut. I believe Weinzapfel had Tsirtsis on his back for a second in the semi-finals of state that year. I remember wrestling Weinzy at a freestyle tournament when I first started wrestling...he pinned me in about 5 seconds while twisting me up like a pancake. Only match in history where I had physical pain from being manhandled so easily lol. I'll take Coughlin over Nick Lee. Coughlin won state twice and placed 2nd twice compared to Nick getting 1 champ and 1 runner up.
