First and foremost, another great season wrestlers. Thank you and to our Seniors, I wish you the best in your next journey. You have not disappointed. 106- ACTION Jackson was all business from the get go. This sophomore is going to be fun to watch the next couple years. 113- 4X time state placer and now 2X time CHAMP wasn’t about to be denied. Junior Ruble wrestles hard and as a junior, we will see him again next year for some more excitement. 120-Great hand fighting while on their feet. But Lemley was just too much on top. He had over 3:00 ride time against a solid Frazier. 126-One of the most solid wrestlers collects himself another title. Seltzer was too much for a talented Schoeff whos now been under the lights as a freshman and sophomore. 132-As a southern Indiana guy, this was a tough one for me. One side wanted me to have Freeman win for us southsiders, but I’m not one bit disappointed seeing Montgomery finally put his name in the books. I’ve enjoyed watching him at SS each year. His intro during the face offs showed just how excited he was. I don’t know him personally but you CANT love or root against a kid with that type of character. Best of luck to both he and Freeman on their next journey. 138-MENDEZ MENDEZ MEMDEZ What more can be said other than we are witnessing history again. As only a junior, he’s coming back to join such a small rank in Indiana rich wrestling history. Also coming back is his competitor, sophomore Ruhlman. Great job getting under the lights kiddo. 145-Zionsville collects their very 1st school CHAMP in Wagner who just had a bigger gas tank. Watson came out strong but couldn’t keep up the pace that Wagner was forcing. No knock on Watson. 152- Conway and Ellis has some great scrambles and the 3rd period didn’t disappoint. But they needed extra time to settle the score and Conway gets the takedown and his name in the books. Great match 160- Quite possibly the most exciting match of the night. We seen all the tricks in this epic battle. Some great scrambles. Just when we thought Baumann was going to ease through the match, Majors counters with a spladle or a key lock. Only to see Baumann battle through it to throw a mean lat drop and secure not only his 1st title but clinched the Team title for EMD. EPIC EPIC BATTLE gentlemen. 170- Here we have our 2nd High school East Central capturing their 1st CHAMP. HALL didn’t waste much time and secured the fall in under a minute vs a stout Morril. 182- Sollars was on a mission and showed his SS win in the battle of the unbeaten vs Buchanan wasn’t a fluke. Solid riding with knee blocks helped keep Buchanan grounded. Great news for us fans, they’re both only Juniors and we get to see one more year of them. 195- And yet another school Indianapolis Luthern captures their first CHAMP. FILIPOVICH is a stud and bested another hammer in Carrington. For some big fellas, they were very athletic and had a lot of exciting scrambles. 220- what a display by Ruhlman. Who has jumped 3 weight classes, 50 lbs and comes in to put his name in the record books like Ruhlman just did. I know there’s been wrestlers picking up 15-20 lbs but NOT 50. Am I wrong on this one. Not only did he capture the title, but finished UNBEATEN. 285- Tye big fellas put on a great show. Some power was shown in throws. Athleticism and balance for 285 was put on display in some scrambles And they battled till the final whistle. OL IndianaMats own @Y2CJ41had his big man ready to sit at the top. Muncie comes out in top but I think all us fans win here. In the end, we had 3 schools capture their FIRST EVER School CHAMP. While we’re going to be losing some GREAT Seniors, Indiana wrestling is solid right now. We seen some PHENOMENAL wrestling from freshmen sensations like Ison, Leavell, May, Demarco, Tishner. Then a plethora of Sophomore studs. Thank to the coaches and parents during this troubled year(Covid) to help make all this happen. Job well done.

Congrats to Toby Abbott of Cowan and Hunter Page of Monroe Central for becoming the first ever placers from their schools! Is there any one else that did that this weekend?

Although I’m disappointed I didn’t win the fastest thumb and acquire tickets to championship Saturday, the first time in over a decade, I’m proud to be a part of supporting, encouraging, teaching, coaching and influencing the sport of wrestling. Proud to be a mentor. Proud to be a role model. Proud to be involved in a sport and lifestyle that carries on well past the day they wrestle for a championship, or the day they get their first win, but the day they are proud of themselves, the day they gain the confidence to face their fears and overcome their insecurities. Win or lose on the mat, I know these wrestlers will be better prepared, better equipped and more confident to set higher goals to achieve in their path. So as I watch from the comfort of my living room this year, I will watch with a full heart, a sound mind and a proud soul that I am blessed to be a small part of these young athletes lives. Wrestle hard, wrestle smart, enjoy and remember this day. You are creating memories.

Another great match for Sollars and Mater Dei. Gabe has wanted this since his freshman season. He watched Matt Lee win his freshman year and Blake Boarman and Eli Dickens get one of their own last season. I think he decided it was his turn. He is alot of fun to watch. CONGRATULATIONS GABE!!!!!

There are more people in suits than wrestlers and coaches on the floor. They took away the parade, doing this with medals, and they don't have cameras going this round on the jumbo screen. The IHSAA sucks.

Definitely “could’ve” done more, but didn’t have to. Alexander should’ve done more. Jones wrestled his match, continued upper body action trying to work in his trips off his ties. Alexander got up early and tried to kick it in cruise control. They can only wrestle it out if there’s 2 guys trying to actually wrestle.

I hope it’s eastern time because I find people on “Indy time” tend to be a good 20min. late for most occasions.

I addressed the security guard as führer multiple times. He did not find it amusing.

Correct me if I am wrong but this is what I show. Evansville comes out on top. New Castle got some great matchups with Fort Wayne that closed the gap.

That was a heck of a match and a nice way to lock up the championship for MD.

And according to the people talking on here all week, he was the UNDERDOG!! Predicted to lose Friday night and had no chance to win a championship again. I’m waiting to hear those people comment back.

A Decade of Dominance Dates back from Neal Molloy starting the streak in 2011 Danville - 2x Neal Molloy, 2x Brock Hudkins Avon- 3x Asa Garcia, Carson Brewer Brownsburg- 3x Brayton Lee, Logan Miller, Dorian Keys, and now Kysen Montgomery continues this streak . Not to shabby streak we got going on in #TheCounty

Baumann was on the verge last year. He lost in SV to JaJuan Anderson Friday night, who ended up being the runner up. Baumann had an early lead and kind of ran out of gas. He's been on a mission this year, with tonight's match the only one that presented any real danger. Congrats to Brody!

These guys wrestled each other today in close contact over several minutes. If something got spread then someone already has done it to much of the group. They can probably deal with standing beside each other for a couple minutes to get a medal, especially if they are wrestling a mask most of the time. My only thought is the IHSAA is hoping they and their family will leave the building after rather than stay for the finals. That would just make it even emptier for the finals though.

Why is it annoying when it was a shot at a dumb comment by a PM fan in another thread earlier? It wasn't you, but I'm sorry I annoyed you. It had nothing to do with the kid, just an earlier dumb comment. That said, telling me to shut up won't get you very far.

Boarman hung in there. Thought he should have been hit with a couple more stall calls but he wrestled smart and Mendez tried to ride the whole first period. He gave Boarman a lot of respect.

Gabe really hasn't been challenged all year. He's been on a mission. Now we'll see if he can beat Buchanan for a 2nd time! Gabe's rise is similar to Tristan Ruhlman. Last year they battled at 170, in a trio with Rob Deters of Castle. Sollars beat Ruhlman a few times, then Tristan got his revenge in the consolation at state. Ruhlman finished 5th and Sollars 7th. This year both, have been unstoppable!

The Lees did it. Joe won but Nick lost to Chad Red.

Team Race is up in the air ? Anyone Trophy now, going to come down who wants it more and play spoiler. Placement points will play a factor .

Will Chesterton start pulling away ? Will Warren and his Falcons pull closer ? Will Mater Dei catch them both ? WE ABOUT TO FIND OUT !
