  3. For what it's worth to Perry, I was trying to type a thank you message into the comments section of the feed when Egli got the fall. They cut the feed immediately, so I couldn't even send the message. Thanks to those involved with Perry in providing that live stream, the score updates and the match updates. It is much appreciated by those of us too far to travel to be there in person. I know the match didn't go Perry's way, but providing content to as many as possible only helps the sport as well. Kudos!

I think you see the excitement of North Posey and tell city after ihswca team state as proof that class wrestling can build excitement and numbers. I'd leave individual alone. but the problem is the ihsaa doesn't recognize a team state so they really aren't state Champs. i would like to see the coaches association and the ihsaa get this figured out and recognize a team champ as the actual state champ

Not sure if anyone saw it, but he's back on the mat. He is going to be wrestling for Southeastern University, an NAIA school in Florida. It sounds like he may be hitting the mat this semester.

    D1 weekend wrestling

And Brayton Lee.... I'll try and do a more detailed rundown after the weekend on as many wrestlers as I can find. I do know that had Mason lost, Michigan would have lost the dual. He said "I'll have none of that" with a :30 pin.

    Who has the guts....?

Big fish in a little pond or little fish in a big pond. Send Mater Dei and Cathedral to their respective school size groupings throw in the success penalty and in a few years they will both be in 4A.

  13. Kid was Good.. it’s a shame I agree.. This would’ve only been his 4th year wrestling.. just imagine what could’ve been if he wrestled since little..

  15. Love the idea. Makes for a much more competitive tourney at each level, easier to run with 8 man brackets. Two adjustments I would like to see. 1. Private schools are not "community based" teams and as such should be put in 4A automatically. 2. 3A cut off at 1,800. Puts a more reasonable number of teams in 4A. I commend the committee for listening and making a change to the previous format.

    Team State Qualifying

Most schools have to set a schedule and how they will use their current year competition points more than a month or so in advance. It’s just not feasible for the current year teams when the event is held in the middle of the season. We would all love to see it be based on the current years success and likely near the end of the season, but the IHSAA isn’t on board with that yet.

    It’s Time

Some questions for the class wrestling supporters, and a proposal: If you have 3 classes, do the smaller school teams only participate in duals/tournaments versus other small school teams during season? If you plan to have small schools wrestle against large schools during in-season tournaments, then why wouldn't it make sense to do it post-season? The individual wrestlers are at the same advantage/disadvantage. If you plan to only have the small schools participate versus other small schools, then travel budget will increase as the number of schools in a given class will be less and schools will have to travel farther for class-level competition So following this reasoning, and assuming that class wrestling supporters are likely to believe that only the post-season should be classed - my proposal would be: Keep the single-class IHSAA tournament Small schools opt out of two in-season tournaments (4 participation points) After the Regional round of IHSAA championships, hold a regional tournament for those small school wrestlers that were eliminated in Sectional or Regional After the IHSAA state championship, hold a Small School State Championship and seed the small school wrestlers that made it to state/semistate along with the top wrestlers from the Small School Regional tournament. Determine class champions so more wrestlers can gain notoriety. Possibly only allow wrestlers that did not place at IHSAA State to participate (even more people awarded)
