There aren't many ways to know for sure how our state stacks up against others in terms of the quality of wrestlers we're producing. You can count the number of kids we have ranked in national rankings, but that is subjective and our high school travel rules limit our exposure. Some people like to count NCAA D1 All-Americans, but there are so many socio-economic and just practical barriers and advantages in play, that it feels like a limited assessment tool. A broader post-High School evaluation might be this: How many "high quality" college wrestlers is our state producing? It's tough to take into account all redshirts, injuries, flunkies, etc., to create an evaluation like this. However, for the sake of simplicity, we could simply do a count of current-season Division I starters and D2, D3, and NAIA All-Americans (because AA's at those levels tend to perform at a D1 starter level). The cool part? That's exactly 1000 wrestlers in the country (76 D1 programs x 10 starters and 8 small-school AA's x 3 levels x 10 weights). It doesn't take a math degree to know that the average state would earn 20 of those slots in a given year. Indiana has 29 this year: 19 D1 starters and 10 small-school AA's I haven't done the research necessary to know how that stacks up exactly against others, but I know from past research I've done, that more than half of those 1000 "high-quality" college wrestlers would be taken up by only a few states. I'm guessing that 29 number for Indiana would put us in the 10-15 range when compared against other states--a similar spot to where other attempts for assessing our quality have landed. What's your feeling on the current quality of Indiana wrestling?4 points

Wrestlers/Teams Looking for Dual Teams Spring/Summer 2019
QuinnHarris and one other reacted to TysonNisley for a topic
Me (Tyson Nisley, 145) and my buddy (Matt Neff, 170) are looking for a dual team to be apart of this off season and wrestle at some of the bigger dual tournaments. Me and Matt were both semi-state qualifers this year and are looking to see ourselves on the podium at Bankers Life our senior years. We are both willing to be flexible with our weights (maybe not cutting down a ton because we wanna eat) Let me know if you or someone else has spots available for us. I’ve seen it before but not with as much intent as Bo did. He didn’t just flip the guy, he ripped that one. So much so that I believe the opponent was a little upset about it as he wouldn’t let Bo help him up afterwards.1 point

Tonight? That may have caused my earlier "rag doll" reference. Every time I watch Bo wrestle it seems like I see something new. He's a beast and pretty much does what he wants and even the best of the rest can't do much about it.1 point

Wow! Harvey takes out McFadden!! Last-second hands to the face sends it to SV and he gets the takedown to win.1 point

NCAA Championships - Day 1

I know Parris deserved a couple of those stall calls, but that was silly. Stoll didn't take 1 shot, never attempted to turn, only pushes, and is rewarded with 4 points. That is just encouraging ugly no offense wrestling.1 point -

NCAA Championships - Day 1

Watching Bo Nickal (Nolf too) is a beautiful thing. He doesn't look athletic, he doesn't look overly quick or very strong..... until the wrestling starts! Then he pretty much does what he wants. Will miss watching him at the collegiate level.1 point -

Stoll will be an interesting first round match. HOPEFULLY, his lack of mobility will give Parris a bit more of an edge than against Jennings. Stoll and his gunshot knee will try to keep it to a 3-2 match. If Mason can find a way to finish shots, he should be okay. Shots should be there. Just gotta finish!1 point
