160 and 182 are totally different.. i'm not hating on laplace i'm just saying using a 160 pounder as a indicator for what a 182 monster is capable of is Apple's to oranges.. There's weight classes for reasons and idc if he was p4p #1, 22 pounds of muscle and technique on a nationally ranked guy @182 is way different than wrestling a great 160 pounder.. since we are using wrestling math Brewer teched Bates over the summer and Bates beat laplace...I'm not questioning laplace skills I'm questioning The logic in comparing results vs a 160 and possible outcome vs a Nationally ranked 182.

Some of these comments are comical! I know both wrestlers well. Carson and Jake are both great wrestlers, great kids and the sky is the limit for both. Instead of being on the sidelines or on here talking about how one is so much better...let’s just say they are both great and enjoy a great match! Looking forward to seeing two of Indiana’s best go at it. Only sad point is it’s on a Friday night

Granted, all 3 will have VERY TOUGH semi's... 126: Watts vs. Mendez (Al Smith finals rematch), 132: M.Gimson vs. Viduya, and 138: C.Gimson vs. Rooks (Al Smith finals rematch also)... All three have really stepped up their offense in the post season. Watts beating Curtis 8-5 at FWSS was no small feat. Matt Gimson's only close match all post season was Cottingham. Connor Gimson pinned his way thru the entire FW semi-state. I wouldn't look past any of these three under the lights... they're gonna bring it, guaranteed.

Looking at the Super 32 results again, probably a good indicator who may be under the lights tomorrow.

P4P 8th in the nation is a whole different scenario then a 14th ranked guy in a weight class. It should be a very competitive match. Laplace isnt a typical alternate and was ranked 2 in the state for a reason.

In my personal opinion, this matchup is a toss up. I think a takedown wins the match. At this stage I'd say both get out from the bottom position leaving it to be settled in the neutral position. I think all could agree Mendez is more technically sound on his feet, however they are both incredibly smooth and Littell brings some horsepower to the party as well. Good luck to both studs this weekend!

No one is trying to downgrade LaPlace. It's just the inherent nature of message boards (and to a greater extent our society now) that if you argue against someone's point, you are automatically against that person. The two can absolutely be mutually exclusive yet that is recognized by so few today. And on message boards, when you try to defend your argument of the point, it really makes it seem you are against the person and not the point, and even at times, actually turns you against the person because of how they attack your argument and fail to recognize it in its merit. It was like that with the Boonville before SS. People stated the Boonville wrestlers wouldn't win because they weren't experienced or tested enough. Defenders asked what you have against Boonville. The answer = nothing, I just don't think they'll win because of xxxx....... The response = you don't know what you're talking about/they're good/your argument doesn't mean anything, etc.... It becomes two separate conversations masked as one.
