Information Here is a little side project I've been working on. I've done it in previous years with just some friends and family, but this year I decided to open it up to anyone. The idea is pretty simple. You're given a certain amount of "money" and you are then able to "buy" one wrestler in each weight class. Everything was based off of the Indiana mat brackets with rankings. The accuracy of the pricing is only as accurate as the rankings provided. The winner may receive a small prize, but no guarantees. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know. (Especially if there are major mistakes and/or problems) Pricing: The pricing of wrestlers was determined by a Monte Carlo simulation of the entire tournament that was ran 1,000,000 times per weight class. The price is based on the average placement of the wrestler, causing some interesting outcomes. To be honest, this was probably overkill, but I enjoyed it. Personally 5 seats ok but rows is unacceptable.. people who get there early and stand in line should be able to sit anywhere and not be denied because someone is trying to save seats for people who feel they can get there whenever they want.. Just my honest opinion..

I think there is common etiquette that should be followed. Trying to save 100 seats so every extended family member and friend you have ever known can sit together is BS. I once had a father trying to save 20 rows get super mad that I dared sit in his imaginary kingdom that was over 50% empty. I still consider that guy one of the biggest dopes I have ever ran across.

We have 13 wrestlers that enter Friday without a loss on their record. However, the other 209 wrestlers have a combined 1030 losses between them. Most of the losses are to state level competitors. 2 of the nicest kids you will ever meet. We have competed against them since 5/6 grade and not only are they great wrestlers, but outstanding kids. I always enjoy talking to them and wish them the best this weekend and at Indiana Tech.

Unless you are married to "your coach" then I wouldn't get comfortable on them or enjoy. someone could get fired or end up in jail

Also it seems many teams are seeking some very good out of state competition. There are a few kids who are undefeated within the confines of the Hoosier state.

I love the rush of trying to get seats low even when you’ve waited in line but would love even more to pay extra ahead of time to show up twenty minutes early and have a seat all ready. The IHSAA can have my money for that luxury!

Chesterton every year lol

Ive ripped down caution tape multiple times. Every time it was a school from the region. I fight with someone from the region about seats once a year minimum. Anyone have similar experiences?

I hate that we have to evacuate after the Saturday morning session and reenter for the evening session. Why not have the IU vs Purdue dual during that down time? Everyone could watch some BIG10 wrestling before the evening Finals.

Madison used to wrestle and practice at their junior high. Back in 1989 I think they added onto the high school gym and built our 100x50 practice room above weight room and football locker room. Added a few touches to it since I got here in 2010.

25 years ago we would stand in line between rounds so we could get lower, middle seats. When we would get there, there would be Tape across several rows and newspapers over many seats left from the round before. I would do my part in cleaning trash from the sections and gather up all the tape and throw away all the discarded newspapers ! ! !

I saw the gimson brothers for the first time at ft wayne. They make it look easy. Really impressive.

Nice Job. And THANK YOU for putting the ranking# off to the side of the wrestlers names! During the broadcast on Sunday they did not include the actual rank. I initially thought it was because the rankings may not be officially endorsed by the IHSAA, but Rakestraw and Goebel kept referring to the rankings over and over again. I really think if they would just include the ranking off to the side of their names (like they do in NCAA), it would make the pairings presentation make a lot more sense -- especially to someone who is not otherwise familiar with the wrestlers by name. The proof is in the results year after year -- you all put a lot of time into assigning a rank to a wrestler, and for the most part you are usually spot on.

I personally believe the weekly articles have added a great reason to visit the website every week. On top of that there are some great stories out there beyond the wrestling mat. I know personally I have become a fan of many of the kids from the articles.

Running a tournament is never just a simple thing as many people would expect. I've ran a few smaller tournaments, nothing to the magnitude of the ones you run. The ongoing list of options they have of situating a tournament can easily be over looked. A lot goes into preparing for such tournaments. Mistakes happen and you owned up to it. I think I can say it on behalf of many folks here, we certainly appreciate all the work you do to get these things situated and running. Trackwrestling is a gift and a curse sometimes, but doesn't take away all the hard work the tournament staff and directors put into it. With a bunch of fun going Evansville fans this past Saturday, it's the first time I've heard the crowd start yelling stalling on a computer. Not sure I ever saw officials warn the computer for the stalling though.

This error had nothing to do with the IHSAA ... they have been busting it on your behalf and are working hard to make this a great experience for everyone. If you have to throw someone under the bus throw me. Mark Durham. The buck for this TW mistake has to land somewhere. They were built this morning while I was in transit from some Evansville events back to Indy ... I should have pulled over at the Exit 87 Country Mark gas station on I69 south and checked them before they went public. I didn't. As it turns out they were set-up correctly, but there is a little check-box at the bottom of the build screen that says, more or less, "use saved lines instead of default lines" ... well, it needs to be checked and wasn't. And you know the rest of the story. Again, I am sorry. The "Show" was fantastic.

Key matchups: 106 Carlton Perry (WC) vs Logan Miller (BROWN) in the 1st round. With only 5 wrestlers, Warren really needs these points. Brownsburg has to have lots of people advance too. Perry defeated Miller 8-2 earlier this season 106 Blaze Garcia (AVON) vs Suhas Chandi (Carmel) in 1st round. Rough matchup for the freshman - if he can win I consider those huge bonus points for Avon 113 Jacob Moran (PORT) vs Cole Ross (EMD) in 1st round. Brutal draw for Mater Dei - if he wins then Portage is essentially done. If Moran wins as expected then that is a big loss for EMD 113 Zeke Seltzer (CATH) vs KT Nelson (BROWN) in 2nd round. Nelson is hot, but can he control Seltzer? I’m guessing no, which would put Nelson with a 5th place finish as best possible scenario 120 Brayden Lowery (RONC) vs Tyler Conley (AVON) in 1st round. Likely that Avon loses one of their 7 here Lowery is too much 120 Blake Boarman (EMD) vs Chris Stewart (WC) in 1st round. Winner gets Riley Bettich (CROWN) in the 2nd round. What a group of 4! I think Stewart has the chance to pull an upset here but advantage Boarman. Warren absolutely has to have Stewart get to the points rounds to have a shot. Boarman vs Bettich - WOW! Loser can only place 5th at best WOW. Big points swing possible 120 Kysen Montgomery (BROWN) vs Carson Eldred (Westfield) in 1st round. The two have split matches this year. Montgomery has his work cut out for him, but it’s a big swing match for Brownsburg 126 Brock Peele (PORT) vs Brayden Curtis (YORK) in 1st round. Winner gets Lukasz Walendzak (CATH) in 2nd round. Another stacked group of 4. Peele is great but can he knock off both of these? If Curtis wins, can Walendzak score on the solid senior? 126 Kane Egli (EMD) vs Logan Wagner (Zionsville) in 1st round. Another tough first round for Mater Dei. Wagner is very experienced - but I think it’s close enough and Egli could provide the minor upset. Winner gets Hunter Watts in the 2nd round! 126 Jesse Mendez (CROWN) vs Hunter Watts (Jimtown) in semifinals. There’s a huge difference in points (22 vs 13) between 1st and 3rd place. Can Mendez repeat his 5-2 win over Watts? 132 Ricky Hegedus (PORT) vs Drake Campbell (BROWN) in 1st round. Winner gets Alec Vidya (RONC) in 2nd round. Yet another crazy quarter-bracket! Could be a BIG points move if the winner of Hegedus/Campbell can beat Viduya. Viduya has to score big for Roncalli 138 Jaden Reynolds (AVON) vs Dylan Goudy (Western) in 1st round. Goudy will be a tough matchup, but I’d consider these some critical bonus points if Reynolds can win it. 145 Jacob Burford (CROWN) vs Antwaun Graves (WC) in 1st round. Winner has a good chance to get to the final 4 so that would be big points for whoever comes out ahead here. 152 Tyler Conley (AVON) vs Elliott Rodgers (CATH) in 1st round. WOW this is a blockbuster in terms of points because either of these could go a long way in the bracket for some major points. I think Rodgers needs to finish top 2 to give Cathedral a shot at the title. 152 Sam Fair (PERRY) vs Jake Schoenegge (CO EAST) in 1st round. WOW another great matchup! Pretty much a must-win for both teams cause these are high scorers, and without them neither team has the numbers to make it up 160 Peyton Asbury (BROWN) vs everybody. Asbury has a pretty good draw. Can he make it through to the semifinals where he would likely see Slivka (CATH)? A 3rd/4th place finish for Asbury would be nice points 170 Eli Mahan (RONC) vs Thierry Jean-Baptiste (BROWN) in 1st round. Mahan is electric - can Brownsburg draft a strategy to slow him down and steal a win here? I don’t see it happening 170 Nick South (COL EAST) vs Joe Walker (Mishawaka) in 2nd round. South won a 2-1 decision at the Al Smith. Columbus East will need him to win it all to keep in the team race. If he defeated Walker, South could see Mahan in the semifinals 182 Carson Brewer (AVON) is the only one at the weight on one of the teams listed. Should be big points for Avon here 195 Austin Lane (PERRY) and Ethan Potosky (CROWN) both are up against higher ranked opponents in 1st round. Tough for either to advance 220 Lawson Aiken (BROWN) will have a rough 2nd round match against the winner of Kyle Cornwell (Elwood) vs Joey Kidwell (W Lafayette). Aiken knocked off the #1 wrestler at semistate, can he keep the hot hand? 220 Jacob Bolte (COL EAST) vs Drew Webster (N Montgomery) in 2nd round. Webster is a dangerous opponent for Bolte. Columbus East needs every single point it can get 285 Dorian Keys (BROWN) vs Yehezquel DeVault (Penn) in 2nd round. Heavyweight is always so unpredictable, but if Keys can get some big points here for Brownsburg it would be a huge boost for them

I could see Mater Dei with 2 in Lee and Dickens. Possibly another if Boarman defeats Bettich in the quarters and a Freeman upset over Cottey wouldn't surprise me either.

Before the season I was talking with my logansport regional guru @Wrestling Scholar And we discussed how much wrestling AJ had did this summer and how he had solid results. AJ was 6th at the Lafayette jeff sectional as a sophomore and worked his butt off. Saturday he was in the finals at east Chicago that is an amazing turn around. For everyone that is not wrestling next weekend remember keep grinding and improving, hard work will pay off. Great Job AJ and keep it rolling

Bed sheets & caution tape are way past common etiquette. When an event is GA and you want a good seat then show up early. Seat saving should go no further than you sit in one & place your coat over another. Thus if you need 10 seats you then need 5 people there to save them. PERIOD! Last week in E'ville, I arrived at 8:40 am. One particular team had about 6 students (they appeared to be wrestlers who didn't qualify) trying to save about 6 rows in the middle of the stadium. When I sat down, one of the kids came up & politely said this was their schools section. I simply pointed out that it was GA & schools didn't have appointed sections. The encounter ended there but I did witness him convince others to move on successfully. The area they were saving never got over half full.

Big screen TV. Computer with HDMI connection. Open 4 browser windows (one for each of the mats) in your computer. Size each window to fit to each corner of your computer screen. Turn off volume to all but one of the screens. Get comfortable on your coach and enjoy. I’ve done this a few time for some trackwrestling hosted events and it works well.
