This error had nothing to do with the IHSAA ... they have been busting it on your behalf and are working hard to make this a great experience for everyone. If you have to throw someone under the bus throw me. Mark Durham. The buck for this TW mistake has to land somewhere. They were built this morning while I was in transit from some Evansville events back to Indy ... I should have pulled over at the Exit 87 Country Mark gas station on I69 south and checked them before they went public. I didn't. As it turns out they were set-up correctly, but there is a little check-box at the bottom of the build screen that says, more or less, "use saved lines instead of default lines" ... well, it needs to be checked and wasn't. And you know the rest of the story. Again, I am sorry. The "Show" was fantastic.

Our mats were really old and they could not be re-conditioned so my AD replaced them all. 2 full mats plus an extra section. The goal is to never pick these up. We left the old sections below to stop the mats from sticking to the floor. My AD is super supportive and my principal use to be the head coach!

Overall Rankings are always a heated debate amongst wrestling fans. Over the years we have always locked our rankings before sectional and let them ride throughout the state series. Every year we lose kids due to unforeseen circumstances and even the death draws at semi-state. However, they always prove to be quite accurate. This year we had the most ranked wrestlers in 175 or just under 78% in our final rankings. On top of that 206 of the wrestlers were in our state or semi-state rankings. My picks: 1. Cathedral - they only bring 5 this year, but they are all high potential scorers. Mosconi (145) and Slivka (160) have relatively good paths to the finals. Seltzer 2nd round match will be a good one but otherwise I think he makes the finals. Rodgers (152) and Walendzak (126) are the keys - especially Rodgers 2. Mater Dei - Matt Lee (145) and Eli Dickens (152) have good paths to the finals although Cooper Noehre could be a roadblock for Dickens. Parkinson (170) could make top 4. Freeman (106) is on the wrong side of the bracket - he should make top 4 but then hits Cottey in semis. Boarman (120) vs Bettich in quarterfinals is winnable - that’s a big one. Any other points would be considered bonus points, with some bad 1st rd matchups 3. Avon - Garcia and Brewer are prohibitive favorites to win it all. I also like the draw for Rioux at 126 in his quarter bracket but further points would be a challenge. Both Conleys have very tough draws in first round. The key for Avon will be the young Garcia (106) and Reynolds (138) they need some additional points at both 4. Brownsburg - Lots of wrestlers, lots of talent - but I don’t see them at the very top end. However, these guys are battle tested and know how to manage a match to keep it within winning range late in the 3rd. They have a LOT of swing matches listed above - I think they are capable of winning any of them but they will need to win MOST of them to get guys into the 3rd/4th place range instead of the 5th-8th or put out in first round 5. Columbus East - Like Cathedral, not many guys but they are top shelf. Rooks and South are favorites - although South has a tough path. Bolte (220) could make it to the finals if he gets hot. Schoenegge has tons of talent but to reach finals would have to likely go through Sam Fair, Brock Ellis *and* Elliott Rodgers - that’s tough! 6. Portage - Moran and Donnell Washington are both guys I expect to see in the finals, and I think they both will win it. Brock Peele is great but draws Brayden Curtis in the 1st round. Hegedus gets Drake Campbell. 7. Roncalli - Only 5 guys, but they have some big potential. Could be among top few if they have a great weekend. Brayden Lowery could win it all at 120, but will have the other Brayden in semis. Alec Viduya (132) could also win it all but Garcia is the favorite and Alec will have to get through 2 other monsters to get to him. Freije actually has a great bracket draw - he should breeze to the final 4 and a good shot to get to the finals. Eli Mahan should get top 4 but would have to beat South or Walker to make the finals. Heavyweight John Harris may be their key Others - Crown Point, Merrillville, Perry Meridian, Warren. All these are solid squads, but other than Mendez for Crown Point, I just don’t see enough of their people going for a top place or getting past all of their early round matchups. They can be the spoilers in many cases for the teams listed higher

Curious as to who has scored the most falls in the state this year - Let's hear some numbers! Is there a state record that anyone knows of? I would guess Mason Parris from last couple of seasons put up some huge numbers - unless he possibly received a lot of forfeits from opponents calling in sick that day

Before the season I was talking with my logansport regional guru @Wrestling Scholar And we discussed how much wrestling AJ had did this summer and how he had solid results. AJ was 6th at the Lafayette jeff sectional as a sophomore and worked his butt off. Saturday he was in the finals at east Chicago that is an amazing turn around. For everyone that is not wrestling next weekend remember keep grinding and improving, hard work will pay off. Great Job AJ and keep it rolling

I just love these boys and their parents!!!! What an awesome family!!! I remember meeting little Isaac a few years back and we just struck up a conversation. I was so impressed watching him wrestle that I knew he was going to be good. Then we met Becky & Joe. Jon and my son have wrestled a few times but we are all friends. That Floyd Central room looks sharp. Had the opportunity to view the Brownsburg room. In a word: fantastic. It also includes office and locker rooms. Very impressive. The rest of their school is undergoing a big expansion/remodeling. Their band room was unbelievable. Got the opportunity to see the Merrillville room years ago when I interviewed there years ago. It is jaw-dropping when you walk in there. We are getting a large expansion on our facility at Pendleton Heights. We will have three full mats with a workout space on the one end. Very appreciative to our school administration and school board for their support for the addition. It will be one of the state's finest when it is finished. Drew Hughes senior year pinned everyone except his opponent in quarters or semis at state. He should be pretty high up there. Nasty on top.

I have never had the opportunity to meet Jon, but Joe and Ike are great people so I would have to assume Jon is as well. Above and beyond the great athletic talents of Ike are his ever present smile. If you ever see this kid he is always smiling and has nice respectful pleasant things to say to everyone. Great family for sure !!! Good luck this wknd to both boys

Perry defeated Miller 8-2 earlier this season 106 Blaze Garcia (AVON) vs Suhas Chandi (Carmel) in 1st round. Rough matchup for the freshman - if he can win I consider those huge bonus points for Avon 113 Jacob Moran (PORT) vs Cole Ross (EMD) in 1st round. Brutal draw for Mater Dei - if he wins then Portage is essentially done. If Moran wins as expected then that is a big loss for EMD 113 Zeke Seltzer (CATH) vs KT Nelson (BROWN) in 2nd round. Nelson is hot, but can he control Seltzer? I’m guessing no, which would put Nelson with a 5th place finish as best possible scenario 120 Brayden Lowery (RONC) vs Tyler Conley (AVON) in 1st round. Pretty much a must-win for both teams cause these are high scorers, and without them neither team has the numbers to make it up 160 Peyton Asbury (BROWN) vs everybody. Asbury has a pretty good draw. Can he make it through to the semifinals where he would likely see Slivka (CATH)? A 3rd/4th place finish for Asbury would be nice points 170 Eli Mahan (RONC) vs Thierry Jean-Baptiste (BROWN) in 1st round. Mahan is electric - can Brownsburg draft a strategy to slow him down and steal a win here? I don’t see it happening 170 Nick South (COL EAST) vs Joe Walker (Mishawaka) in 2nd round. South won a 2-1 decision at the Al Smith. Columbus East will need him to win it all to keep in the team race. Aiken knocked off the #1 wrestler at semistate, can he keep the hot hand? 220 Jacob Bolte (COL EAST) vs Drew Webster (N Montgomery) in 2nd round. Webster is a dangerous opponent for Bolte. Columbus East needs every single point it can get 285 Dorian Keys (BROWN) vs Yehezquel DeVault (Penn) in 2nd round. Heavyweight is always so unpredictable, but if Keys can get some big points here for Brownsburg it would be a huge boost for them

I also didn't know that Contenders and Coach Parrish were the only academy...someone may be confused as Contenders is in Bburg and some other joint called Red Cobra is in Avon. To @MattyB point...I cheer for all these kids because I see how hard they work all year long. I'm a Bburg guy through and through but will root on Brewer because I see what he's doing in July when it's 100+ degrees in the sweat-box behind the Thai Restaurant off of Rockville Road. I root for Asa because he has no fear of getting together with other county guys and making each other better. He puts in time doing teaching to the little guys in Snyder's room...because what's good for the sport is good for all and we like to continue to grow what we're doing in #TheCounty. We recently moved, and one of the biggest things I hate is not seeing these kids get after it daily at RC or Contenders. #TheCounty is strong. We truly do pull for each other. I believe it was Jaden Reynolds that said it best...all this rivalry stuff is kinda silly. We've all been wrestling together since we were little and we all work together all year long. So we're all friends. Haters gon hate.

They got a death draw at 113 with Ross having to face Moran on Friday night. Sollars is tough but I feel hes one and done Friday night. Kane Egli faces Wagner on Friday night and I don't believe he gets by him. Clay Egli had a bad day to fall into a 4 vs 1 seed. Tough Friday night

I think Avon has a shot to finish higher than Emd at state. Good luck to both teams. I have been a team leader in many teams with Emd guys. Always tough. Furthermore ALWAYS respectful and funny kids. I really do enjoys seeing these kids have success.

Can't remember the last time I saw 40 points scored in a match... and at 182 lbs??
