  1. We will be live tonight for #IndianaMat Gorilla Radio around 9pm EST to talk about semi-state. We will probably have two shows this week, so a double dose of Mike and Joe! It's like Christmas has come early.

  2. I had a great day and past 3 years coaching my son, although he didn't make it to semi-state, I will always cherish the time I got to spend with him in this great sport. The lessons he learned along the way will help him as he takes the next step in his journey to manhood. I would like to thank all the coaches in the region and state whom I have become friends with. With that being said, anyone interested in a head coaching job at Boone Grove please contact Boone Grove AD. In wrestling Dave Hinkel

  8. New Castle has 20% more wrestlers ranked in the Top 5 & 40% more teams ranked in the Top 20. Personally I would call them damn near a draw in toughness to advance, but I guess using #'s for factual reasoning is an error of mine.

  11. Of coarse you didn’t, why wouldn’t I pick them ? Might be because the second toughest schedule in the State. They wrestled in the toughest Sectional, Regional. They seen the best for the past 3 months, my kids go there, they been tested right . Must be upset I only picked a few of EMD wrestlers to make it. I’d say something to . Go ahead make your own picks homer. The Notorious

  12. Ok.... I agree. Just trying to give Cash some cred. Facts : Now over the decade I’ve been watching these Champs wrestle going all the way back peewee years with Cash & Rooks. The ISWA years through grade school, Middle School years now in High School . I can put $ on it they have wrestled before over that decade and I’m sure Cash has a few wins . This isn’t his first rodeo. As I stated up there Cash knows what’s he’s doing on the mat . Actually my son Asa has been beaten by both these wrestlers threw the years . When I said Cash is a bad draw. It’s because they have a long, long history. I think you got me confused with someone that don’t know what he’s talking about these wrestlers .

  13. The fact that Gibson Southern is bringing the 6th most wrestlers to the Eve SS behind only Avon, Bloom South, Brownsburg, Columbus East and Mater Dei is super impressive! They have picked up a new fan in me and I noticed that they only had 3 seniors out of the nine wrestlers they brought to the regional Saturday (8 of whom will be at the Ford Center this weekend). Tell me they wouldn’t have done some damage at team state this year in 2A.

    EC semi state prediction

*Couple things about each weight 106: roberson vs Cernus is semi finals will be a big match for team scoring 113: 2nd quarter bracket will be the most interesting Tattini vs Armstrong and then winner vs Fogarty 120: both semi finals will be great matches 126: top side quarters can go either way and Peele vs Mendez in Semi finals will drop one of them to a 3 seed causing a potential Friday night match vs Curtis or Watts(FW's runner up) 132: one of the nastiest blood round matches in all semi states Moreno vs Rodriguez 138: Nisely vs Alexander should be a fun semi finals match 145: 2 tough first round matches Hollis vs maldonado and Park vs Watts 152: first round match Hollendonner vs Turley(winner I believe can grab the 4 seed) 160: Washington should navigate the bracket with ease 170: top quarter bracket can go a few different ways with Sneed, Pack, and Streck fighting for a ticket 182: 2nd worse blood round match is Bates for LaPlace. and potentially some revenge matches Castro vs Donahue and LaPlace vs Donahue 195: Akinwumi draws a tough blood round match vs Donovan. Snyder vs Potosky I believe will decide who makes the finals vs Akinwumi/Donovan winner 220: Another great Fowler Bailey rematch is in order 285: 2 tough blood round matches Garcia vs DeVault and Atria vs Austgen

  16. Newman wrestled a Jasper kid in the finals at Big 8 conference 1st period - Newman TD2, Jasper Kid E1, Newman TD2. 2nd period - Jasper kid's choice. Defers. Newman takes Bottom - Newman R2 - Newman NF3 - Newman FALL Just saying, if that Jasper kid was Milanes I wouldn't be betting your house on that upset BUT anything can happen.

  17. I'm going off memory which can be shaky at times, but I swear at EV SS last year the scoreboard had either the weight class or the match number, either which would get you there. I have mixed feelings as well. I like the mat assignments assigned but it is hard if you are trying to write winners in your scorecard when 4 mats are going and you have one mat still at 138, another at 152, another at 160 and the last has jumped all the way to 182. I feel like nearing the end, assignments were moved around to keep mats from being empty, but not until 220/285.

It is very hard to believe but this is Doane's first year on the high school team. He just did the freestyle/greco until now.

  21. Another bracket buster at 160 could be Schank (Southridge), he is a two time SQ. Not sure if him and Deters have wrestled this year, but that could be a good ticket round match.

  22. This is one ticket round match that I think will be really interesting. Carrender when good is great. Anthony is more consistent and way more battle tested at this point in the tournament (wrestled Chundi twice and Crousore). Will be a fun match if they can both get past their first round opponents. Good luck to both!

  35. I 100% agree with this. I think Mason is at a point where he felt like he had to put on weight (to compete with the likes of Stoll, Nevills, Hemida, Jennings, etc) and that he's not where he would be optimally especially with several wrestlers that are more similar to him in style (Cassar, Steveson, etc.). To me, Mason looked more cut than he does now. Personally, I think he'll be much better if he wrestles in the 230-235 range (about 10 lbs lighter) and gets even stronger at that weight. It just seems there may be some extra weight that isn't working for him the best right now. And to be clear, I'm comparing him to Cassar and to what I think Mason will become 2-3 years from now. I may be making it sound more drastic than I mean it to be, but I wonder if he would have been better off staying lighter this year (225-230)? I can't answer that. It's just a feeling I get after seeing him wrestle several times. I look forward to seeing what he can do the next few years. It won't be easy with Iowa adding Cassioppi and Ohip State adding Kerklivet. But my money is MP is right there in the mix with those guys and agree on his upside.

  36. I guess that depends on how you are defining “best”. If “best” means the semi-state with the most state champions predicted by the rankings guy, then perhaps. If “best” means the one with the most hype, then definitely. (The Region seems to be falling down in that area a bit this year. Where is Da Rat and his cohorts been this year?) But if you are defining “best” as “most crowded” with high quality wrestlers (as I think Maligned calls it), then not so much.

Yes, I like Ison at 45, he’s a scrapper. Hope he pulls it out . Very deep weight class, not a good weight to be a freshman . Wouldn’t be surprised if does his thing . He’s good enough ! The Notorious
