  1. Allow me to provide analysis for this weekend with probably the most unbiased opinion on this forum. Let me apologize in advance this will be slanted toward 3 teams who will be battling for the Ship. It is a 3-way race with Warren Central in the drivers seat. Throughout the year the Warriors have proved they are the better overall team than both the Rebels and Falcons. They defeated them at County by a healthy margin, unless we see a few upsets along the way I believe the Warriors will prevail once again. The Rebels defeated the Falcons at County and last week in Sectionals the Fa

The DAC had a bit of a down year, however, as Chesterton and Valparaiso both had relatively down squads this year. Based on the IndianaMat final Power Poll (https://indianamat.com/index.php?/team_rankings.html/2019/power-poll-final-r114/) of the top scoring teams, here are some potential landmines with respect to the race for the team championship. HUGE thanks to @Indysportsfan and his excellent data! *NOTE: Northerners - before you complain... there are not many highly ranked teams (other than Portage and Crown Point) from either the East Chicago or Fort Wayne semistates. Although there are a LOT of compelling matchups at regionals and semistate, I did not see many that would directly effect the te

  4. By JEREMY HINES Thehines7@gmail.com Matt Lee and Eli Dickens are practice partners in the Evansville Mater Dei wrestling room. They are good friends, they are both juniors and they are both ranked No. 1 in their respective weight classes. The similarities don’t end there. The two are soft spoken and humble. They have extremely similar voices, so much so that it’s hard to differentiate them if talking on the phone. They both have a 3.9 grade point average. “On the wrestling mat they both like to push the pace,” Wildcat head coach Greg Schaefer said. “They are both students of the

  8. The problem with today's society and especially message boards is that people want to equate "hating" or "not liking" or "against" with any criticism or opinion at all. In general people's panties get wadded up way too quickly. No one is hating or disliking Boonville. They are just speaking a combination of the truth (level of competition) and opinion (certain matches won't be close). It has nothing to do with one's preference of Boonville. Now is the time, rather than whine on a message board, to step up and prove people wrong. The 3 wrestlers mentioned all have great records and

According to the rules, if all teams practice Friday, no additional weight allowance will be given..seems kinda silly if you miss practice all week but practice Friday not to have additional allowances though

  10. Are there any weights where there is a chance for a repeat of 2009? At 160 that year, 4 wrestlers (One from each SS) came into state finals undefeated. All 4 made it to the semifinals Mark Myers, Briar Runyan, Matt Todd, and Ross Powell. Runyan would win it all has this ever happened since then? Is there a chance this year?

If they would have been able to keep that middle school group together, they would have competed for a state title. They had the Williams kid that lost to Jack Kiser in the finals in OT (moved away). They also had Jordan Slivka, Dallas Pugsley (SQ), Hayden Lohrey (lost to Asa in the finals that year and looking for his 3rd trip to the bank this year) AJ Black 2x State runner up, and Silas Allred (you may have heard of him). John Slivka did a great job building that program when these kids w

  18. I don't think anyone on here thinks Boonville is in the same league (team wise) as Mater Dei. However, Tecumseh and Wood Memorial are in the Castle Sectionals and Boonville would need to compete against them for seed purposes. If you look at opponents outside of their conference and sectional seeding purposes...they compete against Reitz, Union County, Southridge, and Gibson Southern...not to mention Castle (sectional seed). Those teams aren't Mater Dei quality either...but who is in SW Indiana. I see it more through the lens of UCF and Bosie State in NCAA Football. When smaller schools start

  19. I don't think it's necessarily hating on Booneville because the athletes are beating the guys that they are competing against. It's more that the record doesn't always give a fair description of how good or not the athlete will compete against a proven quality opponent.

The alternate may be officially weighed in immediately after the end of the official weigh‐in period. b. The 1st alternate will be the last individual defeated by the champion who did not advance by placing. c. When a 1st place contestant is unable to make weight or weigh‐in and wrestle, th

    Rules question

Keep in mind the specifics of this situation and the rules as quoted directly from the 2018-19 NFHS Wrestling Rules book. Various situations have different criteria for what can be changed and the time line involved, specifically, tournament (this case) vs. duals. The term to focus on is "earned", not, awarded. Again, once the technical fall has been "earned" the offensive wrestler cannot lose. With regard to other near-fall situations, a 2 or 3 point near-fall may be earned, yet, not awarded for various reasons; most often to allow for the near-fall situation to be concluded or possibly

But i bet these predictions come pretty close come Saturday afternoon. you have to look at the competition that MD faces compared to the competition that Boonville faces. Boonville is a good solid team just not in MD's league. You will see Boonville at semi-state making some noise in the 1st round and podsibly the 2nd round depending the draws.

    2015 Middle School State

I noticed a couple kids that competed for their 4th year this year. Must have just gotten lucky because they are only allowed 3 years. Plus they are not supposed to compete twice as an 8th grader, if they were held back their 8th grade year.

Unless there is a huge 1st round upset, one of these two is going to be a #3 seed at New Castle next weekend As these wrestlers will likely finish 1/2/3 out of the Warren Regional - it's highly likely that either the 2nd or 3rd place finisher will have Elliott Rodgers from Cathedral in a ticket-round match at New Castle!
