What’s not good is that you obviously have no idea what you’re talking about

First off I want to let everyone know I usually do not read threads on here and I just now signed up to be able to post because it sickens me to see these “likes” and comments! While I do not condone the issue of using plastics, I also do not know the full story on what recently took place at Carmel High School, nor do any of you! It makes me sad that I see such negative comments towards my high school coach, knowing he has done SO much for many programs and for the state of Indiana. I am not going to sit here and tell you that I have agreed with everything Coach P has done, there have been times we haven’t seen things eye to eye.....But I am not going to forget everything else he stands for and the many improvements he has brought to the wrestling community in Indiana. Nobody is perfect! We all make mistakes, some more public than others. It saddens me to see so many people that have reaped the benefits of his presence in wrestling get on this thread and bash him and “like” derogatory comments about him. Coaching isn’t easy and dealing with most parents does NOT make it fun. One of the fundamental rules I live my life by is “never kick a man when he is down”. I will put aside my thoughts and opinions and I CHOOSE to reach out and anyone who is down I try to help them rise again and become better! One bad decision does not define you!!! It is when you are down you will find your true friends, I am here for P. Writing thoughtless posts on message boards while hiding behind a keyboard is also a great way to burn bridges ..... something else I try very hard never to do! Leroy Vega

got a banged up knee from last week and did what was best for his health.. it's a tall tall task with 2 legs let alone a hurt leg.. nothing to gain wrestling banged up.. survive,advance and rest up the leg..It was in his best interest and I stood behind it 100%.. Congrats to Brewer he looked awesome today.

I totally agree with this statement. 75% of the posts in this forum are sadly about the seedlings of the kids, and I haven’t seen much of anything talking about the health of the athletes. Can we call a spade a spade and acknowledge this is terrible for your body? Do you all think it’s odd that the wrestling community on average is significantly shorter than those outside of it? Do you think it’s just a coincidence or could it possibly be years of depriving your body of nutrients during critical periods of growth?

a forfeit is not a punishment that is a slap on the wrist........................................................

Rules aren't changed from last year except for the one that was announced in all the IHSWCA minutes in the spring: teams have to have 7 guys to be counted toward classification. Classification won't be finalized until all the Forfeit data is finalized after this weekend, as always. No other rules have changed in the last 4 years. Sorry for the delay with Categories. We want them to be as accurate as possible, so we do the tabulations late in the year. We're all volunteers with full-time jobs, so if a key cog is consumed by his full-time life, we sadly get set back. I finally got the last pieces of what I needed at 2am, so we're pushing through to get it done this morning. Good luck today, everyone!

Has nobody learned not to bash people (especially high school kids) until the whole story comes out? I’ve been searching for info most of the day but have only found one vague article and a bunch of people on here ready to execute them. It all seems strange to me because some of these duals were from early December. Who knew about these for most of the season and waited to report it until until the right before sectionals? By everyone’s comments here, that person also put all these kids’ lives in danger for a couple months for not reporting it sooner. The article I read did state that Carmel’s Athletic Dept self reported the violations to the IHSAA as soon as they learned of it. But there was no info on how they were told. I’m going to choose to wait on my judgement and what an appropriate punishment would be until more info comes to light.

Anyone else find it weird that this guy created an account just to call for the suspension of wrestlers?

The 8 wrestlers and the coach should be suspended for the tournament as well as the school be put on probation for all sports due to this not only a state violation but a national one as well

This is a total guess, but maybe the difference is that Carmel High School self reported the violation to the IHSAA? Punishments are usual lower if it is self reported as opposed to trying to hide it from them. Again, I don’t know anything about you or your situation, so this is just a guess not meant to be a personal attack. If the situations aren’t exactly the same, then the punishments probably won’t be either.

i am mad on the punishment and for the health both. this state athletic association just opened a new picture on things. what they now are telling kids coaches and parents is brake the rules and we wont punish you. i will tell you this state has no control and it starts at the top. i don't care what the coaches name is if this was the NCAA and this happened to Penn State in wrestling or Alabama or Clemson in football i would be my life earning that the players and coaches as well as the school its self would be punished... watch out state here comes more rules to be broke by everyone because of the lack of punishment in this situation and the lack of control you goofy looking commissioner has. Some example this states athletic association puts on......... people would be disgusted with the state and with caramel for the lack of discipline but even worse be disgusted by the coach with the credentials and impact he has on the wrestling community to have that little control when he use to run CIA. This just shows you can pay your way out of any rule violation no matter if it is national rule or state way to go Carmel high school and way to go Bob cox and the IHSAA....

What we know is that rules were broken, and there is an acknowledgement by the athletic director, followed by a letter of apology for his wrestling program. My problem with this situation is that privlaged young men are being taught that it’s ok to break rules as long as you don’t get caught. Also that winning is more important than the health and safety of HS student athletes. In today’s world, this can not tolerated. I don’t care who the coach is. Adults working with today’s youth must set a better example than this. Very disappointing.

I’m pretty sure the so called sauna suits were “technically against the rules” even back in the 70’s when “everybody” was doing it. (Or so I was told at the time.) However, it was most generally overlooked kind of like driving a few miles over the speed limit. I think at least a lot of schools were openly handing them out as standard practice equipment. And I think they must have been recognized as being POTENTIALLY dangerous even then or they probably wouldn’t have already been “technically against the rules”. However, I think enforcement became more of a priority after some tragic events occurred (as has already been pointed out). Of course, those tragic events were brought on by some very severe and extreme abuses. Certainly, use of sauna suits can be potentially dangerous as are many rapid weight loss techniques. Sauna suits are against the rules and so should not be used. But if we are talking about potential risk and endangerment and not just about breaking rules, any method of losing large amount of weight rapidly through dehydration is fraught with equal risk. For certain, to be losing 10 pounds via dehydration in a week (or even weekly?) certainly isn’t healthy and can cause not only short term but long term health risks. So if we are castigating Carmel wrestling for breaking rules, okay. But if we are tsk-tsk-ing them for potentially endangering the wrestlers, I think perhaps a lot of people better be wary of their own glass houses.

its showing him that people dnt care if he wrestles or not it looks like they would rather not have him be apart of the sport and if he doesnt want to be apart of the sport he is not trying to get other people into the sport and that means that the sport just lost someone that might of talked other kids or even his own kids into wrestling one day
