I'm Eric Allred....#3 at 182 Silas' dad. First off, really appreciate your support and confidence in my son @wchew20. He's undoubtedly turned a lot of corners and distanced himself from a lot of guys. The extra training, national competitions....and quite honestly just no longer being 14 has really allowed his strength to catch up to his athleticism and technique. In regards to Elijah Mahan cutting to 170lbs. There's a lot that went into that decision. I stay in periodic contact with Elijah and his family due to my line of work (Evangelism/mentoring/etc). Elijah was a little discoura

  9. Trick question? ☺ That would violate the weight management plan. Neither seem healthier than the other. I get your point and it relates with mine. There are some athletes that need the lighter weight classes just like there are some between 250-285. Neither are a majority but both should have the opportunity to wrestle. No other sport teaches better life lessons and that's what I love about the sport.

    State Suite

I think they would do well to sell reserved seating, just like many other events. You could have general admission for the seats on the upper levels, but (like suites) sell tickets or blocks of tickets for the lower level. Then no more coats and seat saving...

  11. Guys, we can settle who has the best and worst sectional fairly easily. Who offers the best hospitality room, and who offers the worst? There must be a correlation between the two.

  12. All your questions about the Lafayette Jeff sectional answered by the scholar. Question 1: What's new at the Lafayette Jeff Sectional? Answer: 1st of all due to sectional re-alignment we have two new teams, Seeger and Attica. Gone is Benton Central and Frontier. The latter moved up to Twin Lakes and are rewarded with much higher placings. Good for them. Also not there, is Iconic Harrison Coach Scott Vander Aa. He was the winning coach of the last 6 sectionals. Love him or hate him, it’s sad to see him not in the corner. Replacing Scott at Harrison is Coaching prodigy Jonny

  17. I ain' worried about it. Everyone's record isi 0 - 0 now anyway. I do have to agree that it would be nice to see a statewide listing of sectional entries on this board, just to get the kids names out there and recognize them for their efforts

  19. Homer pick... Conley 145. He’s an all-state caliber football player that made it all the way to semi state in football. So... got a late start. Each year, you see athletes that wrestle themselves into shape for a late season run. Kid is wrestling well when it counts. Ranked 11th right now.

  25. Well I do believe their is one more sectional that would win quite a few matches against the winners of all of these sectionals. and a few runner-ups wouldn't do too bad either. 113- Spears 34-0 120- Antunez 27-1 126- C. Rooks 32-1 132- G. Rooks 34-0 D. Craig 26-2(both losses came to Columbus East) 138- Combest 33-1 145- Schoenegge 30-4 160- South 34-1 170- Kleinhenz 33-3 Beineke 26-6

  26. I was watching HBO last night, and "Hoosiers" was on. I hadn't watched in years, and since I live in Indiana I had to watch to understand the essence of the small school underdog mindset in Indiana, since I live in Indiana now. And how is this relevant to this discussion; well it gave me an idea. Lets make a movie. The plot will be an all-star match between Westview sectional champs vs #Juggernaut Avon. We can do what we want in the movie, so for Hollywood sakes, well change the name of the Westview sectional to the Walnut sectional. We'll add some drama, like have a drunk dad

The 2 mentioned Shenandoah kids should both be state qualifiers. Lohrey was 2 years ago and I will be shocked if anyone beats Allred this year. A few weeks ago he tech-falled State ranked #8 20-2, and he was his top competitor in his semistate.

  48. The amount of moves that you can hit as a big guy is much more limited and the room for error is much smaller for big guys. It is much easier to get off your back when you have a 106lber on you than someone weighing 250lbs. Again the nuances of the sport between each end of the weight spectrum are what make this sport great. It's just like saying the linemen in football are just big fat ogres and we could do away with them. Our weight classes are what make this sport so great, eliminating them at either end is a bad idea.
