Wrestling Coaches,

LAST CALL- we want to make sure the correct and deserving teams are in Team State each year.

I'm sure you've been putting in lots of work even though the season is just beginning. I hope you're able to balance all of the things that a coach has to do, including having a life outside of wrestling.

Over the last couple of years we have been working to better the IHSWCA Team State Championships that will be held January 11th this year. As popularity is continuing to grow, we have worked hard to include more Wild Cards based on in-season results.

The vote will be December 22nd to allow for time to update schedules for teams.

The current teams are:

1A- Adams Central, Alexandria Monroe, Milan, North Miami,  Rensselaer Central, Rochester, South Adams, Tell City

2A- Bellmont, Delta, Garrett, Heritage Hills, Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, Leo, New Prairie, Yorktown

3A- Columbus East, Floyd Central, Hobart, New Haven, Martinsville, New Palestine, Roncalli, Terre Haute South

4A Avon, Brownsburg, Center Grove, Crown Point, Evansville Mater Dei, Indianapolis Cathedral

If you would like to be considered for the remaining Wild Card positions, you need to email our Team State committee member Dane Fuelling ( decbell1@gmail.com  ) and I the following:

Projected Lineup-preferably listing name and grade and last year's varsity record.

Entire varsity schedule

Please post all results on IndianaMat results so we can be as accurate as possible.

Thanks and good luck this season,

Will AC & SA be primarily in the Hangar while the others are in the SAC (field house)?

My guess is that it will be based on the bracket, not the teams participating. The higher seeds will be in the Hangar where there is more seating. I believe there will be two mats in the Hangar and four in the activity center.

Lowell really made a case for an at large bid up at LaPorte Saturday.  Hopefully it works out that they can make the trip because they are a legit contender

Lowell is tough and had some nice wins this past weekend. That Merrillville win was big. That Hobart dual should be fun this week

Mater Dei just might surprise some people this year, lots of studs on that team this year but they definitely have some holes.

Went 5-0 vs Evansville North, North Posey, Zionsville, Trinity (Louisville), and Union County KY. I can't give you scores or individual results, as my memory is on par with a 97 year old woman.

How is this a surprise? They are ranked 5th and typically have studs every year. Are you saying they will finish higher or lower than 5th? Guessing they will finish there or somewhere near there. Always a good team. Nobody’s sleeping on them.

We do notice that it is very typical for EMD not to put results out there. Not sure why that’s still a thing.

True but lately they’ve been doing better at the tournament
