D2 and D3 Champions back in the NCAA D1 Championship. Good or bad idea?

Alan Grammer from Evansville Reitz is perhaps worth a mention as well.   A DII national champ in '85 and '86 for SIU-Edwardsville, he also placed 3rd and 5th respectively in those two years in the DI tourney.  

 

He lost to Jim Jordan from Wisconsin in the '85 semis and Jordan went on to win the title at 134 that year and also repeated in '86.  I heard he's involved in politics now.  🙂

Nice catch. I missed that they used to be D2. I will add that to my data.

We all know someone in the lower level ncaa classes that would definitely AA in the big tournament.
