Lucas Boe was also a National Champion at Kids Nationals in Greco-Roman. Peyton Hornsby was true 2nd Kids Nationals in Freestyle. MatTime Posted February 7, 2023 Share Posted February 7, 2023 Some good matches at MS state. Congrats to the champs and to all those that wrestled to be the best this year. One of the matches that stood out in my mind was the Hornsby v Staples match. Was a great matchup that highlighted the progress of both athletes. They are going to be fun to watch under the lights. Spenser McCammon is absolutely deserving of being officially listed in these rankings. The young man has been solid since he started wrestling and is placing at national events all over the country. To take on the 8th grader dropping down and winning was impressive. Equally as impressive was the 75 lb champ, Connor Maddox. His bout with Spenser was worth the admission cost. Connor has been quietly building his resume and is easily overlooked because he is not flashy, but winning that bracket is deserving of more than an honorable mention. Classy kid. Some other kids that are deserving of more than a nod: Kincaid (MS Champ - 152); Cochran (MS Champ - 70); Carver (MS Champ 80); Kessinger (3rd - 113); Hinchman (3rd - 106; Tulsa Champ). All of these kids have been solid across various weight classes and perform consistently in big tournaments. Great weekend of wrestling. Most of the kids that won their brackets are ranked. Perhaps an adjustment to improve the rankings are in order though to reflect the newest MS information? The level of wrestling in Indiana is getting incredibly high. Bell and Williamson was also a good match at 100.
