Apparently he’s only 21 so he has potential no?

Definitely, coaches will probably try to get him to be slightly more strategic/defensive, not sure if he can win matches against the elite with his style, but he is fun.

@wrestfanany idea what happened to Kayaalp and Mirzazadeh?

I wasn't around for few days, let me answer you now

Mirzazadeh is going to the Asian Championship. that's why they pulled him out of this tournament, the original plan was to send the winner of Mojnazi/Yousefi match in Croatia to the Asians but both of them were terrible

no idea about Kayaalp. maybe affected by this horrible earthquake and needed some rest.

I watched his match vs Ramazanov, he was terrible and careless. it wasn't even a quality tournament. Mostafa Ghiasi (79) and Arashk Mohebbi (92) won the gold almost easily.

in another news Thomas Gilman also participated there (at 61kg) and got teched by a random Japanese guy!

Honestly think he has world champion level talent but he just seems to do too much at times. Only 2 points down with 40sec still to go and he goes upper body for a big throw and gives up 2…

Did you watch the match?? Just looked up the result and the Japanese guys a kid, like 18 or 19. Incidentally his dad’s Chikara Tanabe who won bronze in Athens.

I did not see the matches.  If any of you have links to the matches please share them.  Yazdani had four matches, he teched three opponents, and lost one.  I agree he has world class potential, but he I think he lacks the mental discipline. Let's hope with more experience he can improve.  He will not be a factor in the 24 olympics anyway, so perhap in time for the 28 olympics

Don’t know if time stamp works but it’s at around 1:57:30 of this video. His qualifiers and lots of other matches are in the other live links if you feel like digging around.

Thanks for sharing.  Very unimpressive performance.  Even if he had won the match, it would be a terrible performance for him.  Not impressed with his lack of offense at the beginning, and his inability to finish his moves.  He seemed to be a lot slower that he usually is, and he seemed very hesitant to attack.

Btw did anyone else catch Elahi’s performance? He’s young so don’t want to be too harsh but looks like he’s speed running the famed Iranian age group world champ to obscurity pipeline.

Iran fields women in martial arts where they can come up with Islamic approved attire.  The fitting wrestling singlets do not pass their test.

if a new form of government comes in, this may change

Indeed man In Iran, women are allowed to participate in martial arts, including wrestling, judo, taekwondo, and karate. However, they must wear attire that is consistent with Islamic dress codes, which includes covering the head and body in loose-fitting clothing that does not reveal the shape of the body.

This requirement for Islamic dress codes poses a challenge for women who want to participate in martial arts competitions, as many sports require form-fitting uniforms that enable freedom of movement. In the case of wrestling, for example, the standard uniform is a singlet that is designed to fit snugly against the body to allow the athlete to move easily.

To address this issue, Iranian women's wrestling teams have come up with a solution in the form of an Islamic-approved wrestling singlet. The new uniform consists of a loose-fitting long-sleeved top and leggings that provide full coverage, along with a headscarf to cover the hair. The design of the uniform still allows for ease of movement, while also adhering to Islamic dress codes.

However, even with this new attire, there are still some restrictions on what Iranian women's wrestling teams can wear. For example, the traditional blue and red wrestling singlets that are commonly worn in international competitions are not considered acceptable by the Iranian government, as they do not meet Islamic dress code requirements. As a result, Iranian female wrestlers have had to compete in alternative uniforms, such as the new Islamic-approved uniform, which may put them at a disadvantage in international competitions.

It is worth noting that if there is a change in the Iranian government, it is possible that the policy on Islamic dress codes for women in sports could change as well. However, any changes to the dress code policy would likely be subject to extensive debate and discussion, and it is unclear how quickly such changes could be implemented.

Is this from ChatGPT or a human?

Personally I don't care about women's sports and don't think many people genuinely do. But Iranian women should obviously be able to compete internationally and although they already do in many sporting fields, the dress code remains a significant impediment to their ability to compete in some sports (like wrestling). There are some positive changes being made in recent years, though, for example in weightlifting.

You use every opportunity to Khaye Malie Nezam. In this new year, try other ways to earn money.

Asian championship entry list. Lots of interesting match ups.

Are they really sending Amouzad? As expected no first team from Japan so no Otoguro but would love to see Rahman against Anraku and Tumurochir.

Also Japan is sending the half Iranian wrestler I mentioned a while back Arash Yoshida at 92. Very interested to see how his style does internationally.
