What a warrior.  Not just my favorite wrestler, he's becoming my favorite athlete in all sports.  Hassan yazdani to me is like messi or ronaldo to football fans.

I just hope he's fine and recover well before the world championships next year, im sure he can still perform at this level for at least 3 more years.

Cadet worlds is supposed to take place in Jordan but the situation in the region places it in doubt

The UWW is meeting soon to discuss how to proceed. Possible it will be postponed and moved to a different location

Kamran ghasempoor will be there for worlds in albania right ?

entry list for U17 Worlds

Adlan Saitiev vs Ahora Khateri at 60kg ... should be fun

i am assuming that he is related to THE saitiev?

i might have to actually watch free for that...

the rayney brother at that weight for the US is a little short on technique but a very scrappy wrestler...

that might be fun...

he is Buvaisar Saitiev's nephew... scary prospect... but I rate Ahora very very highly so should be a fun match. still not convinced he should have moved from 45kg to 60kg in one year but perhaps he just had a big growth spurt.

a lot of people are talking about Amouzad's second day weigh in hurting his performance on day 2

another 65kg wrestler said Amouzad is huge and he doesn't know how he makes 65kg

i wonder if Amouzad plans to move up to 74kg for 2028? he has enough time to do it and he's only 22 so should be possible in theory.

Who is the next Sourian / Movahed?

GR: Esmaeili, Hedayati

FS: Masoumi (I am tempted to include Zare as well, he is already 5 time World/Olympic medalist at 23 but 0 Golds in 2 Olympics hurts)

I think Hedayati will dominate GR 130kg for the next 4 years as there is no Lopez and no Kayaalp (Hedayati already beat Kayaalp 4-0 a few months ago anyway).

Esmaeili is great but easier to see him losing some crazy matches in all sorts of ways.

Zare can also dominate at 125kg with no Taha and 30 year Geno.

Yazdani will have another shoulder surgery.  He also confirmed that he is not retiring yet

at what point does the risk of his injuries recurring become too big to deny Ghasempour? he would have won gold in Paris

in 2028 Yazdani will be 33. nobody wins Gold at that age. Ghasempour will be 31 (and hasn't been wrestling as long as Yazdani). hard to see Yazdani lasting another 4 years with all his injury problems

speaking of Ghasempour, Russian reports say Sadulaev intends to compete at 92kg at non Olympic Worlds later this year. So we might see Sadulaev vs Ghasempour.

This isn't prime Sadulaev any more (inactivities and injuries) and the extra weight cut to 92kg will not help him, but he will still likely be too good for Ghasempour.

I refuse to believe Sadulaev can make 92

Sadulaev at 92 seems optimistic at best…

he did not look very sharp at Russian nationals…

I doubt we ever see him at the pointy end again…

Father Time remains undefeated…

If Taz can make 97kg anything is possible

he still won Russian nationals and is only 28 but I agree it seems he is no longer in his prime
