Just looking through some of the results again and found a couple of tough outs...

1. Kade Law won his first match, then landed awkwardly being taken down and hurt his knee.  No idea of the extent of it, but he laid on the mat for a couple minutes before needed to be helped off.  He couldn't put any weight on the leg.  Hoping maybe he just hyperextended it and it's nothing major.

2. Brody Baumann lost his first match 10-9 and won 4 straight on the backside, including a couple of wile matches.  He won his 3rd of those four 11-11 on criteria.  The score was changed so many times and there were long breaks, I have no idea if they got the score correct.  At one point they had Brody up 15-4.

In his 4th match on the backside, he was behind early 7-0, then 10-2 before a wild flurry.  Brody ended up winning 16-15 on a takedown and turn with :23 left.  He finished holding onto legs but as time expired rolled over and grabbed his right knee, which was sporting a big brace.  He hobbled as he got up and as he left the mat, not putting much weight on it.  That was his last match as he MFF'd out, two rounds before reaching AA status.  Again, hope it's nothing serious.

Jesse wins 8-4 over the #6 seed to get into top 6 position and lock up a World Team Trials bid. Par for the course that a couple top 6 consi guys now scratched so he's into the 3-4 match in a rematch with DeShazer if it happens

Those last couple guts were clutch.

Would have liked to see Jesse take on Tyler Graff, as Graff is a vet that has been on the senior circuit for awhile and has a long list of International accomplishments peaking around 2019.  In 2019 he was a World Team member and finished 5th in the World.  But both Graff and Seth Gross FF'd out as soon as they were guaranteed qualifying for the World Team Trials.  Instead he'll wrestle DeShazer again for 3rd Place.

Isaiah Schaefer is definitely not a boring watch.  At 51kg, his first two matches have totaled 51 points and he's outscored his 2 opponents 33-18.

He was down 6-0 after the first period in match 1 and caught fire, winning by tech 18-7.  He won his 2nd match 15-11 with lots of back and forth, turns, etc.

A few more results...
1. Joey Buttler got another win before bowing out of the tourney a round before the blood round. He lost 9-4 to Derek Guanajuato of AZ
2. Revin Dickman bounced back from his R16 loss to beat Washington's Brady Byrd 6-0.  A little Hoosier v. Hoosier action there.  Dickman then lost to Tyler Garvin of PA, to finish his tournament run.
3. De'Alcapon Veazy dropped his QF match 10-0 to Daschle Lamer of OR.  He falls to the blood round next.
4. Silas Allred lost to Jaxon Smith of Maryland 12-1 in the U20 92kg Final to finish 2nd
5. Evan Bates finished 6th at the same weight as Allred.  Bates lost his first match and clawed his way back to 6th.
6. Jesse Mendez finished 3rd at 61kg in the Senior Division.  He won his first 2 matches, then dropped a 6-5 decision to Daniel DeShazer.  Then he rattled off 4 straight wins on the backside before getting his last 2 advancements by FF/ID from Tyler Graff and DeShazer.  Nice result for Jesse, one that qualifies him for the WTT.

7. Isaiah Schaefer will join Veazy in the blood round in U17 FS.

Also of note: ex-IU Hoosier Lucas Sheridan is in the senior greco final at 97kg and current Boilermaker Matt Ramos won the senior freestyle 57kg title (many stars were missing, but he positions himself with a very strong seed at World Team Trials)

Early action today....

Isaiah Schaefer got a 6-4 win over Jacob Fitzpatrick of WI in the blood round.  He then lost 20-10, giving up an 8-0 lead to Kellen Wolbert, also from Wisc.  He'll wrestle Elijah Cortez from Cali for 7th Place.

De'Alcapon Veazy also won his blood round match with a 12-2 TF over Dominic Thebeau from IL.  Like Schaefer, he then lost his next match a 12-1 TF at the hands of Jude Correa from PA.  He'll face Cole Han-Lindemyer, from Mason OH for 7th Place

Graham Rooks lost his consolation match at 70kg in the Senior division.  He dropped a 10-2 dec to Cameron Harrell of Maryland.  He finished 2-2.

Sadly, the tourney ends on a tough note for both Isaiah Schaefer and De'Alcapon Veazy, each finishing 8th.

Schaefer lost 10-0 and Veazy lost 5-5 on criteria, giving up a push out with :05 left.
