#1 N Lee over #20 D’Emilio

Major 12-3

Nick Lee might be the only wrestler I can think of that it makes sense if you call his performances business-like.  Maybe workmanlike is a better word to use.

Chad Red vs. Stevan Micic will be the final match of the Nebby - UMich dual, on ESPN now

That included his bonus

I believe the score was 13-3.  There was a late stalling point too and I think they were slow to add on TV.  I thought it was 12-3 initially too.  BTN can be slow to update scores from time to time.

At the MAC Tournament, Jordan Slivka won by TF in Opening round and 5-0 in the Quarterfinal advancing to the Semis against Ben Barton of Loch Haven.  The MAC only has 2 allocations at 157 so he'll need to win his semifinal to be ensured of an NCAA Berth.  At 24-5 I'd guess he'd have a good shot at an at-large bid if he doesn't finish top 2.

Carson Brewer won his opener then fell in the Quarterfinal to top seed Will Feldkamp, 7-1.

Best of luck to the Hoosier Bobcats!

Slivka falls in the semi's in a tight 2 vs 3-seed battle. Because of all his metrics he should get an NCAA at-large bid if he comes back to get 3rd or 4th today.

Brewer needed to win his weight to get the single 197lb allocation.

And Filius takes out Micic in the first round. All eyes on Nick Lee.

Wrestling is hard.

I was working this morning and didn't see the early matches.  Saw the Rooks win on TW but didn't even notice Micic losing.

In other Hoosier related results:
125 - Jacob Moran drops a 2-0 decision to Devin Schroeder of Purdue.  Schroeder then beats OSU's Malik Heinselman in the QF.  Moran awaits Reno of Nebraska in the consolation.
125 - Drew Hildebrandt had a bye, then lost to Michael Deaugustino of Northwestern, 5-3 SV1.  Now we will have a rematch of last year's 3rd and 4th Place match at Nationals in the blood round of the Big Tens. Hildebrandt or Patrick McKee won't place.

133 - Brock Hudkins won his opener 4-1 over Kyle Burwick of WI and dropped his QF match to Lucas Byrd of IL, 10-2.

141 - Nick Lee after a bye, got a 16-0 TF over Josepj Zargo of WI.
141 - Cayden Rooks beat Chad Red in his opener 9-8 as mentioned and lost 8-3 to Jakob Bergeland of MN in the QF.
141 - Red will face MSU's Matt Santos in the consolations
141 Micic will face Danny Bertoni of Rutgers

149 - Graham Rooks won his opener, 9-4 over Christian Kanzler of IL and lost his QF match with top seed Sammy Sasso of OSU.  He'll face Michael Blockhus of MN in the consis.
149 - Alec White from Purdue dropped his opener to Ridge Lovett NE, 8-1.  He'll face Kanen Storr from MI.

Jordan looks great today. Here yelling my guts out for him.

Carsons snake bit season was over when he busted his ankle first round. Battled for three more matches before calling it a season. He will get right and come back better then ever next year.

Until then… Let’s go Sliv!!!!

More Big Ten action.....

165 - Kasper McIntosh and Hayden Lohrey lost their openers.  McIntosh 5-1 to Cam Amine (MI) and Lohrey 3-1 SV1 to Creighton Edsel (PSU).  Lohrey gets a bye in the first round of consis.

174 - Nick South dropped a 6-4 dec to Ethan Smith (OSU) in his opener.

184 - Donnell Washington fell 9-7 to Kyle Cochran (MD) in the first round

197 - Thomas Penola wins 5-0 over Jaron Smith (MD), then dropped a 4-2 dec in the QF against Cameron Caffey (MSU)
197 - Nick Willham dropped a 17-4 Major Dec to Jacob Warner (IA)
197 - Andrew Davison fell 9-2 to Greg Bulsak (Rut)

285 - Mason Parris beat Brad Wilton (MSU) with an 18-3 TF in round 1 and Lucas Davison (NW) 7-2 in the QF.
285 - Davison won his first round match with a 16-0 TF over Boone McDermott (Rut)

Separate note..I feel so frustrated about Parris's seed. Merry-go-round results amongst Kerkvliet, Cassioppi, and Parris. No benefit is given to Parris for having finished ahead of both guys in all competitions last year. He gets the 4 seed and will now finish 3rd at Big 10s after he beats the loser of the Kerk/Cass semi-final--probably by default.

He'll end up with a stupid 4 or 5 seed at nationals too--behind undefeated Schultz who's wrestled nobody and the winner of the mis-seeded Cassioppi/Kerkvliet semi-final. Super frustrating that it's all set up so that he can't get to the national finals without beating Steveson when all logic with full resume consideration should clearly have him as the #2 at Big 10s and the #2 at nationals.

The consolations are bringing some excitement!

125 - Jacob Moran came away with a 13-11 win over Jerimiah Reno in a wild match ending in SV1 with the Nebraska contingent chanting Go Big Red through the 2nd half of the match.  The match ended with a review as it looked as if Reno may have gotten a TD before Moran rolled thru and popped out for the win.

141 - More excitement in both matches.  Stevan Micic has to fight and claw his way to a 9-7 decision over Danny Bertoni (Rut).  Micic got the winning takedown with :05 left in the match.
141 - Chad Red jumps out quick on Matt Santos (MSU) to a 6-0 lead with a takedown and 4 NF pts, including over a minute of riding time.  Then it seemed like Chad lost some of that fire and Santos inched his way back into the match getting to within 7-6 in the 3rd period after a takedown.  Red escapes to go up 8-6 and Santos keeps pressuring.  Then, almost out of nowhere, on a Santos shot, Red locks up a cradle, turns Santos and gets a quick fall to end it.  Red and Micic move on, but not without sweating it a bit.

149 - Alec White bows out dropping a 5-1 dec to Kanen Storr (MI)
165 - Kasper McIntosh falls out losing a 2-1 decision to Andrew Clark (Rut)
197 - Nick Willham lost a heartbreaker, 3-2, TB1 to Michial Foy (MN).  Foy got a reversal with :19 left in the 2nd TB period and Willham couldn't get an escape to tie it back up.

Several IN wrestlers got byes in the 1st round of consolations.

In the Blood Round - all are fighting for top 8 Placement.
Moran gets Drake Ayala (IA)
Drew Hildebrandt faces Patrick McKee (MN) as previously mentioned.
Brock Hudkins will face Jake Gliva (MN)
Chad Red squares off against Parker Filius (PU)
Stevan Micic and Cayden Rooks will face each other.
Graham Rooks takes on Michael Blockhus (MN)
Hayden Lohrey goes against Clayton Wilson (NE)
Donnell Washington faces Isaiah Salazar (MN)
Thomas Penola vs. Michial Foy (MN)
Andrew Davison takes on Gavin Hoffman (OSU)
Lucas Davison faces Zach Schrader (MD)

Lots of IN kids squaring off against Minnesota!

Sadly, Jordan Slivka dropped his 3rd Place match 4-3.

Hopefully that won't knock him out of an At-Large NCAA bid. There are 5 At Large Bids available at 157.  The Big 10 only has 7 and 10th seeded Brady Berge looks to be crashing that party, after beating 7th seeded Garrett Model and 2nd seeded Kaleb Young today.  Not sure how others could play out and who else might be in contention.

At 141 what do you think the possibility is that Riviera beats Eirman in the semi's. Lee beat Riviera by the slightest of margins last year at NCAA's.

Definitely possible.  But to clarify, Lee beat Rivera by the slightest of margins last year at the Big Ten Tournament.  Lee beat Rivera by a greater margin (9-3, I think) at the NCAA's.
