Is there a "medical forfeit" in high school wrestling? In Trackwrestling can a match be labeled with that as a result?

In high school (NFHS) it is simply a default,  if after the match has started; or a forfeit, if prior to the match. Trackwrestling does have Medical Forfeit as an option, however, technically that is not the correct language/terminology for high school.

Jim, do we know why that is the case? A forfeit counts as a loss on a record whereas a medical forfeit does not. I had a kid carted off to the hospital and now those matches count as losses on his record which the idiot coaches down here will pay too much mind to when it comes to seeing our big competitions.

Per Indiana rules from Robert Faulkens only the first loss counts on the record.

Here are a couple scenarios.

Quarter-Finals with full wrestle-backs kid is injured while wrestling, but continues and wins the match. He does not wrestle in the semi-finals or consolations. He is assessed 1 loss on his record, not 3.

Quarter-Finals with full wrestle-backs kid is illegally slammed and wins the match due to the illegal slam. He does not wrestle in the semi-finals or consolations. He is not assessed any losses on his record due to winning by disqualification.

Semi-Finals with full wrestle-backs kid is injured while wrestling and does not continue the match. He does not wrestle in the semi-finals or consolations. He is assessed the 1 loss in the semi-finals, but not the 2 consolation losses.

In all the cases above the winners of those matches do count the matches as wins, however it is a forfeit win and not a head to head over the particular opponent.

Once again these are the rules that Robert has communicated with me on a couple different occasions.

Because the system is set up to be used at all levels. It is important that the table help understands the appropriate designations and only use those applying to that level. Forfeits should not count as losses, in that, there is no contest. That is the rationale behind no longer counting them as "matches" in an event toward the number allowed per day. Y2's answer is spot on, however, you'd be better off asking someone in your state for clarification and/or assistance in your case.

Generally though, NFHS does not recognize "Medical Forfeit" as a result (see here the only result designations per NFHS). The only other option in your case would to attempt to have the result changed to "Default", which is not technically correct, as, defaults do count as losses; however, may be different in your state. My argument would be that "Medical Forfeit" does not exist in the high school (NFHS) scoring chart, therefore an incorrect result was noted and should be adjusted. However, Rules 6-6-4 & 5 require any correction of errors be made within 30 minutes of the conclusion of a dual or the posting of team scores respectively.

Hopefully this helps and best wishes on another successful season!!!
